Guys, I am lurking. Been too busy to post lately. But, I did manage to remove the ACV and pump over the weekend and install the dual belt pulley. I need to spend some time and make sure everything is sealed properly. The car is running fine. Removing all that emissions crap is worth about 50 hp - psychologically.

I thought you were a fan of the the rats nest? Besides, I need it for the AC. Last couple of days have been soupy. Time to charge the AC back up.

You know I don't know how to do pictures...

The problem is that these parts come from Europe, and every time I have something shipped here, or back there, it's going to cost me $25. I'd rather keep a set of leaner and richer jets for fluctuations in tuning for winter/summer, and for dyno days like Crit mentioned than pay to get rid of them. It's just that all the old hardware is now working fine after simply reinstalling them the way I removed them.

Well at least you got genuine Italian parts. Those latins cleaned up at Indy. One of the things I really like about carbs is the way they just decide to start working perfectly one day, lot's personality you won't find in a fuel injector.

Mike if I give you a camera and teach you how to post pictures will you post photos?

Hey guys, it's about that time to start planning the 2nd Annual OGTA Lake Day. As before, it'll likely be a Saturday/Sunday during the summer, and it's on Lake Hartwell, at the GA/SC border. Does any one weekend jump out to folks that would be good?

I got lots of trophies, I won a bunch more on Craigslist the other day. I'll post pics when I get a chance. These are the real thing, genuine road race trophies from 1984/1985, very high quality. We need to set up an awards committee for 2nd Annual Lake Day. I nominate Mike and Holly for chair.

Mike, you don't need the nest for AC. You can just keep the one solenoid for the idle bump.

Then, if that solenoid goes bad like mine did, just bump the idle up in the summer.

+1

Why the decision to go to Lake Hartwell? That's in Toccoa where I am from. I haven't seen it in a while, but the last time I did it wasn't in too great of shape.

Kim and I should not have a problem coming this year.

How 'bout Sunday, August 16th? That's my birthday.

Donnie, Crit's House at Lake Hartwell was fantastic last summer, we were out on the lake all afternoon. It was in great condition then, even though the water was low. This year it should be even better.

Here's a page from last year, and some photos:

It's been a long *** day! The Miata has been giving me trouble lately...losing engine power at random times, surging, breaking up... Nearly left me stranded in Marietta off Cobb Pkwy the other night!

Got around to jumping the diagnostic box to see if there were any codes being thrown...None blinked away, so that's good. Figured it may be the almighty spark plug turret trouble so I pulled the plug wires out of the turrets and found the turrets half full of motor oil. Well, that just wouldn't do. Clearly the valve cover gasket was leaking away... Went to autozone and bought a new one.

While I had the valve cover off I cleaned, stripped and repainted my valve cover. I can't believe someone thought red was a good idea! Simple grey did just the trick..looks much better now!

I *think* it fixed the problem...but I'll know when I drive the car more and check the turrets for oil leakage.

Ahh that's the day before the week classes start. I'd be too nervous to make it. On that subject, do you have any helpful tips to a new freshman, Ray? I've been wanting to ask you...

I saw your pictures of that. Looks much, much better. You should've went like crazy neon green or something Kidding...

And on another note, I totally got those wheels! And I justified it to myself this way- I paid $320 for them, and I'm selling the 'vert for $300 and a black S5 wrap around spoiler. I've already profited almost $500 on the 'vert, so I get that plus a set of wheels, a spoiler, the misc. pieces I put on my car, and my spare motor if you think about it. And I could always resell them if I needed to. So good enough for me

And it'll be around a month before they go on, so I've got time to get tires. 215/45/17 seems to be a common and cheap size. The 5-lug I've is good to go besides new pads. The rotors have some surface rust, so either I'm going to drive on the old pads to clean that off then put on the new, or clean them with some wet-sanding. And I think I'll need new lug nuts, too, since these wheels have narrower holes for them than stock.

And they're R1 Racing GTR 5R wheels, 17x7, 40mm offset just like stock, 2 inch lip, and are 5x114.3. They're just like Volk GT-C's too. I'm excitedd

Plus a grad picture... that's my goofy step dad behind me who Billy always reminds me of.

I know y'all don't want to see most of these, but I'm excited that we've gotten through SO MANY of the manuals for Vintage, and some of them make for some cool reading. There's still more to scan, but this is probably 70% complete.

215s is not wide for an FC, go 225 or bigger. Hell I've got 205s on the FB and it's a good 700 pounds lighter than my FC with just 20 more mms of rubber per wheel.

Oh yeah, I forgot that is where Crit's lake house is.

Doing it on your birthday would be nice, but as stated before, thats the day before school starts back. The following morning I have Calculus II at 8am and then calculus based physics later on that day coupled with some other classes. Should be one HELL of a semester

What about August the 2nd or 9th?

Oh yeah, we are on for Tuesday right? I will be there. I am not sure if Kim works or not, but if she doesnt then she will be there also. I am going to try and not get a ticket this time!

Yeah man, Tuesday night. Be there or be square.

FWIW, Lake Hartwell is WAY up, and it's absolutely gorgeous out there right now. We even got the little Maytag engine running on Memorial Day. I don't mind doing it after ZF, but it sure would suck if the water level drops again by then. We'll see.

Y'all keep dates in mind, and we'll figure out the right weekend for a big turnout. Donnie, last time it was a Saturday meet with the offer for anyone to stay the night, though nobody did. There's no reason you can't have Sunday all to yourself before classes start.

Crit-- I won't have Sunday all to myself, I will be working. I haven't had a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday off since Deal's Gap. Before that it was Zoom-Fest last year!! I hate being good at my job and needing the hours. I have to cover for our Parts Pros every weekend becuase they dont want to work. Being broke and in college sucks.

I am down for either Saturday or Sunday. It will just have to be after Zoom-Fest for me. That will be the only way I can afford to take the time off, but I will still only be able to take one day and not the whole weekend.

Anyone been to pull-a-part recently? I am thinkingabout going tomorrow but online it says the Norcross location doesnt have any 7s. I would like to also try to find a dual alt pulley.

They're only 7" wide, so I would be a puss to go over 225. But 225/45 is common, too. Idk, it'll still be a while.

What about August 8th/ 9th? That's 3 weeks after Zoom Fest, but still before classes start. There's my input

EDIT: Ya'll are nuts staying up till 5 in the morning... I don't think I've been up past 1 in months! When do you guys wake up in the mornings, anyways??
