Old guys with 12As club meeting
Details for the next OSJC meeting, Oct. 25 at Lake Lanier, from Dave's website, should be lots of fun:
What A Great Turn Out
Thanks for taking some time to check out the Zerogarage website, and thanks to everyone that attended either of the last two meets. The first meet was June 16, 2008 at 3:00 pm called "The Dam Old Skool meet" at The lower pool of Buford Dam. It was larger than we had ever expected. Forty-three cars showed up on a dirt road in the rain. We got many phone calls right at the start of the meet from people letting us know they were not coming because of the poor weather.
In between meets, every other month, we are trying to have a small meet and/or a fun run. We usually meet up at our shop with 15 or 20 cars and ride together to a spot to hang out.
Our second Old Skool Japanese Car meet (OSJC) was at Ft Yargo Park in Winder. We sold a 1983 Rx7 for scrap to buy hotdogs, chips, drinks, and such. (RIP little gray Rx7, enjoy your trip on the barge to China) I never had a chance to count the O/S cars at this meet, but Ashley at Redline photography told me she counted 63 cars, and that might not have been all of the cars that showed up.
We gave away three "Zero Nostalgic Japanese Streetfighter" T-shirts at the meet.
1st shirt went to the oldest car at the meet. It was a 1966 Datsun 1600 roadster, owned by a young lady named Ally. She lurks around in the Import Alanta forums.
2nd shirt, for the longest drive to get to the meet, went to a super nice fellow named Michael. Who drove all the way to Winder, Ga from Spartanburg, SC in a first gen Rx7. He hails from a club called "Old Guy with 12A's" or OGTA club.(in the forums of rx7club.com)
3rd shirt was for the nicest/cleanest car at the meet. It went to Greg with the G-nose 240z signed by Mr. K himself. (If anyone wants to argue about this award. I'd have to fight you...lol) Greg basically said, a person has to be at least a little bit insane to do such a meticulous job of restoring a car. I laughed at his comment, and agreed with him but, I'm sure I can speak for everyone that looked at this car...Absolutely unbelievably beautiful. And when you open the driver's door, a woman's voice starts speaking Japanese to you. Greg told me what she was saying, but I was so flipped out by it that I can't remember exactly what he told me. It was something like "Be careful the carriage might move" or something like that. As far as I know, Greg does not post on any car forums. (He doesn't have time because he's always cleaning and shining up his 240Z)
Our next meet is going to be at Mary Alice park on Lake Lanier on October 25, 2008 Saturday around 12:30 pm. We will have a pavillion, with tables, a large grill, and some nice views of the lake. This meet will probably be our last meet until March so let's see if we can hit the magic 100 car number at the meet. We will have plenty of parking for the O/S cars and spectator cars.
We will continue to do some fun runs through the winter months. If you want to take part in any of these smaller, but sometimes more unruly group runs, e-mail me your phone # to dave@zerogarage.com. I usually call about 20 people a week to two weeks before one of these events so they are kind of spontaneous. This is also kind of a way we are recruiting people to get involved with Zerogarage website. We are looking for people that "live" the Old Skool lifestyle.
We are going to do something for Petit Lemans. We will be there if anyone is interested in meeting up at the Road Atlanta infield.
Thanks again!
Dave Wilson
Our Next Car meet is Oct. 25th. 2008
When: Saturday Aug. 25th 12:00pm
Where: Mary Alice Park, Lake Lanier
What to bring: Any Food and Beverage.

Since the next official OGTA meeting falls on Tuesday, November 2, when some of us might be voting, how 'bout we make the official November OGTA meeting a joint weekend meeting with the OSJC folks?
That might even get Kent down here from Virginia!

Hey Dave, is that the White One in your Zero Garage flier, the FB in the middle? Looks good!

That would make Colin II.
Colin, in order to join, you need to read all 110 pages of this thread. You will find in there, grasshopper, details about the November meeting. (hint: we don't know yet).

Well, I made a 330 mile round trip yesterday in the FB
And I am doing it again halfway..Swapping cars at the customers house in Lillington. Point being , The next OGTA meet I make will be in the FB with the "proper" engine for the groups namesake. It still needs a properly fitted exhaust, and new wheel bearings to start before I present it to the general rotary public
Running well though. Ice cold A/C!

I'm thinking I may sell Grace once the swap with Sabine is done...and once Grace has been de-performanized. With that money I will most likely use a bit of it to pay down my medical expenses (Which isn't much, but right now, it's practically a million bucks) and then buy something like an Escort wagon or Escort GT...or CRX...or something equally economically entertaining. I really am leaning towards the Escort Wagon though...I'd ideally like to find a silver 5-speed LX model. Can anyone say Rally Cross? Plus I have a strange obsession with wagons...I just think they're so....clever...It's like a minivan, only FUNNER!

Seven LOL's for luck!
I've had 4FC switches burn out on me during the 2 years I owned my TII. Mazda sells them for $150 and Mazmart sells it for $90. Good luck.

it's probably like $2, but it'll cost you $10 in gas to drive down there, still you're coming out cheaper than anywhere else
Oh yeah, I got rid of the TII because of El Nino

Hope to see you at the next one.
