Old guys with 12As club meeting
Oh, for you racing fans, I should mention that Jim Downing is racing this weekend on Sunday at Road Atlanta in the 2-rotor C-sport. They will be qualifying on Saturday. You should be able to see the car racing around the track sometime before 3PM on Saturday and Sunday.

Congrats Holly, you got our 1,500th post!
Andy let me see if I've got this right. You want to watch the LeMans race, which starts early Saturday morning, right? I don't know much about racing, but isn't that a 24 hour race? That would mean we'd be watching TV for 24 hours. Hmmm....
I watched the Indy 500 last weekend, it was worth seeing but I don't know if I can spare enough time for LeMans!
Speaking of Grand Prix racing, did anybody see Grand Prix, that racing moving from the '60's? Fantastic movie, my older brother, who was a road race freak, took me back when it came out.
Holly I'll be listening for Jim's car this weekend, you can always tell when a rotary is out on the track.

Start this https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...31#post8237731 to get our caravan down to the OGTA lake meet setup. Post there for anything related to the NC crew making its way down to the meet.
Hmm, I thought the lake would be a lot closer than it is from up this way, but thats ok, cause I'm still comin' down. So far its just Stu and me.
Looks like a 3 hr. drive + 1/2 hr for getting lost, turning around a few times and what not.
Michael we can meet up like last time in Spartansburg if your up for it.

Tim, you wouldn't be referring to my Yankee heritage, would you? Ouch!
The other post looks good, I even checked out the map, looks like Crit is way out there in the sticks and that lake goes on forever!
Hope nobody gets lost but it would probably be a good idea to set up a good cell phone network for those (like me) that do.

OGTA -
Yes it is a 24hr race.
I however, have never been allowed to watch the whole thing (wife, life, etc. always gets in the way). I only figure on watching the first few hours, as that's when most of the action happens. My typical MO is to check in every few hours during the day, and then wake up throughout the night to check in online. I usually catch the last couple of hours. I have not missed a finish of Le Mans in 8 years, and don't plan on starting. Mazda's got an entry in LMP2, albeit a piston-powered car.
SpeedTV's first round of coverage runs from 8:30AM to Noon. Two years ago, they cut away from a dicey battle between Aston Martin and Corvette to show Hooter's Pro Cup Qualifying from Michigan. I almost had an aneurism.
SpeedTV's coverage is pretty good, but nothing like what they get in Europe. This year we'll get the first 4hrs and last 3hrs, and probably 6hrs. in the middle interspersed with re-runs of Pinks and Two Guy's Garage. On MotorsTv (Europe/Asia-only) they'll get nearly 100 hours of coverage including the test day (this Sunday), the entire race, live interviews, plus pre/post race in the weeks before and after.

Ah drats, the 7th is the same day the local RX8 club meets up. I am supposed to go pick up some 12a housings from a guy then
Looks like I am going to have to juggle things around.

Can we get a list of who's likely to come and what they can bring? I've mentioned it to the wifey and she's happy to help, but more organized than I. She needs specifics, and if mama aint' happy, ain't nobody happy.
So far we've got:
Crit and Dena - Fuel for the boat and grill, brats, whatever falls through the cracks
Holly - baked beans, cole slaw, Nathan's hot dogs, chocolate cake
Stu and Tim
Dave and Elizabeth - 7layer dip
Billy

I'll add paper plates and some buns for the dogs/burhers and such. Unless Holly has already accounted for the buns for the dogs.
Looks like it will most likely just be me as Elizabeth's brother had a crash while in Charlotte and has to come back next weekend to get it He's fine just some fram bedage and a fender and bumper. Damn crumple zones and plastic cars.

Holly, I feel like I'm being neglected, not that my ego is all that worth salvaging.
This is the third time I've been left off your list!
So I'll repeat, for the third time at least:
I was planning on coming (but is there a subliminal message?)
Second I'm bringing Sea Foam (for the cars - they count too)
Third I'm bringing Red Dogs (those are beers, not hot dogs)
Also I talked with Greg today, he is planning to come, might even bring something to eat if we are nice to him!
Looking forward to an afternoon of sun, fun and rotors! (Anybody bringing sun screen?)
PS, I can bring burgers too but as a frustrated vegetarian they are not my strong point.
Ray (remember me Holly, the little pudgy guy with the white GSL?)

Ray??? Anyone know who this Ray guy is? LOL Ray, I would never neglect you.
Any OGTA meeting has to have you present. I didn't start the list I was working with, Crit did. And, I encourage everyone to edit and add to the list.
Here is it again with Ray's contribution:
Ray - Sea Foam and Red Dogs and maybe some GSLs
Crit and Dena - Fuel for the boat and grill, brats, whatever falls through the cracks
Holly - baked beans, cole slaw, Nathan's hot dogs, chocolate cake
Stu - drinks and utensils
Tim - homebrew

Did we leave anyone off the list? Feel free to add yourself to the list or make any changes.
