Old guys with 12As club meeting
Yeah, it was too many highway miles on a brand new motor anyway. And I needed to get the FB out. Found a coolant leak unfortunately though. Fortunately 30 seconds with a screwdriver will fix it.
Oh, now the reason I came back here in the first place.
I would like everyone to post which day of the week is best for them and their schedules if they wish to come help/observe the actual installation of the manual transmission. I will most likely request off and plan for the day that coincides with the majority.

What the hell? Colin makes 3 posts in 3 minutes, then Collin goes and makes 2 in 3 minutes. Do you guys really have no idea how the edit button works, or are you post-whoring that blatantly?
Weekends are good for me, given some notice.

Meh. It was a matter of convenience at the time. lol Safari happened to plant me at the bottom in the quick reply box and I didn't feel like scrolling up.
Haha thanks Ray. Maybe FCs should start counting as .8 Their plentifulness shows that they're doing something right. And even though Crit hates em, I loved mine and it feels like a whole different car than an FB. FDs are godly, they should count as one 12A point, and SAs are still cool, 1.5 for them. And Ray, you've been counting 13Bs in FBs for a while (Crit and I).
Lastly, my name is Chris Rowe, so that's where the "ROWE2RI" (rotary) comes in.

The problem with the FD points is that so very many of the cars are maintained through shops, rather than owners doing their own tinkering. The allure of OGTA is that it's a group of folks who understand and maintain their cars, keeping these rare gems on the road. Dealer or tuner-serviced cars just don't lend themselves to a lot of cred. When's the last time you saw a dealer or shop even touch a 12A?

That hurts. I do Everything to my FD, FC and FB. The only thing another shop is doing on Friday is my cousin doing an alignment. I even paint our cars
But, i will admit that the vast majority of FD owners do indeed rely on others to change their oil, start and warm up the car before they think of putting it in gear. Make sure the oil temp is precisely 10 degrees within water temps, and then ask 45K for it when the shops tell them it needs a rebuild because they never drive it

Hope to see some of you guys when Elizabeth and I are down there this weekend for the PDX. We are staying at the Best Western at the exit 129. Coming down lateish on Saturday night after I get off work.
*EDIT*: Holly is not included in the vast majority I mention. There are bunch of FD people that work on their own cars. Some with good results.

Crit, I think you are wrong. I can't think of an FD owner that does not work on their own car at some point. Hell even I did. I have changed the oil, changed and cleaned out the air box, installed the metal AST, changed headlight bulbs. Yeah, yeah, not really much to speak of. But seriously they are a bit more complicated, so I don't see how you guys can put yourself on a pedestal. AND I know a few guys that can tear them apart and put them back together with their eyes closed. AND, they don't get paid for it, just want to do the work themselves because no one else can do it to their standards. AND they help other FD owners with their knowledge.

Dave, that wasn't aimed at you at all. I'm just saying, the 12A cars are nearly always the low-buck DIY cars, which is why Ray set the point spread the way he did.
Dave, I didn't see you registered for the PDX - are you in?

And yep, I am registered. Did it about 3 weeks ago.
Thanks for the offer Kent & Micki. I need to stay on the interstate today and be there tonight. I am staying with family in MD & PA. The 10 hour drive is not bad. I really appreciate the offer and the next time I make it up to VIR and traveling up 29, I will contact you guys. Don't feel obligated, just pay it foward to other rotorheads.
Hey Kent and Micki, congratulations on setting the all time record for longest distance traveled to an OG@TA meeting!
Original equipment jack for the 1st gen RX-7, worth 10 bonus points:

High tech aftermarket Type R replacement jack for the 1st gen RX-7, worth 2 bonus points:

I guess we are keeping the old 12A ratings scale:
1 FB = 1.0 12A equivalent
1 SE = 1.0 12A equivalent
1 SA = 1.5 12A equivalents
1 Certified Old School rotary = 2.0 12A equivalents
1 FC = 0.5 12A equivalents
1 FD = 0.333 12A equivalents
1 RX-8 = 0.125 12A equivalents
Don't fret you youngin's with FC's and FD's. Some day your RX-7's will be Old too and nobody will work on them. Their 12A equivalence status could change in a decade or two.

Don't bet on it Chris. Years ago when we had meets, it was mostly 3rd gens. And meets the FB or FCs would dominate. So it just revolves and it just depends on who comes out and what is running. Like Tim, he brings FD or FB, sometimes he doesn't have the choice.

Ray, you are getting soft. I never would have believed you would hand out points for an RX-8. Some one once reprimanded me for considering a car with a backseat.
