-Sigh- I guess I have no other choice at the moment other than to register and insure Sabine. I'll probably see if Ray can follow me to the meet though, *JUST* in case something bad were to happen. If I'm going to be forced to register and insure the car I may as well bring it and show you guys my future D.D. Plus it'll be a good test.
First things first though...gotta get over this thing that's trying to ensure I make no money! I feel like the swelling has gone down a little since yesterday and my fever hasn't yet come back this morning which is good news.
For whatever reason I seem to be missing conversations from this thread. For example, I didn't even notice that .gif of Holly that I found earlier this morning of her smashing out the van window.
I really don't think I'm going to be able to make the Petit LeMans. Even though I really want to, it'd be a financial no-no. Sadly, when reality hits you and then people let you down...and then more reality hits you, you may find yourself struggling for a while.
By the way, I've kicked the smoking habit and I'm happy I have. I really hope it sticks even after I'm not sick. I haven't had a smoke in over four days now and I don't think I felt the effects of quitting cold turkey because I was so ill at the time. It's expensive and unhealthy and it makes your fingers smell like peanut butter and dog ****. Plus, if I do continue my smoke free new-ness I can totally afford more redbull which is MUCH cheaper!

Ok, this has nothing to do with 7s, but it has to do with me pissing someone off, so maybe somebody on here can help me. If not, it's worth a laugh.
My place of employment has started a little program that I (as well as a bunch of others) are against. Not really because of the idea, more because of the person who started it (she wants a new car obviously), and the idea that while we are being yelled at to cut overhead, let's spend money on non-business stuff. Somehow, it got approved.
As part of this "green" movement, our company is attempting to promote a "green" image. So someone decided to start an incentive program for employees to buy more fuel efficient cars to commute in. The basis is, for every mpg over 25mpg your car gets according to the combined rating on fueleconomy.gov, you get $100. Hybrids, etc get an additional $500. Now, I'm sure they were invisioning a parking lot full of Prius' and Insights, but what me and a few other employees are seeing is a parking lot full of late 80s civics, geo metros, and the like, leaking oil all over the place and so forth. No year limitations were set (big mistake).
Scooters, motorcycles, homemade conversions were not considered viable and not eligible, which I think i stupid, especially where some of our other offices are located. The homemade option is being reconsidered though, but has been rejected on the basis that it doesn't "appear green." This annoys me too, since I have been planning an electric 1st gen for a while now, just haven't been able to justify the cost. With a $2500 contribution.......... (If you want details on what you'd need to do it, I pretty much have it all planned, just ask)
Since the wait list on a Tesla is too long (if you don't know what those are, they are full electric Lotus Elises) and the government rates the Elise/Exige terribly (22mpg combined vs the 32 we are currently getting in town. The test guy must have been bouncing it off the rev limiter constantly), I'm looking for another way to make this program look kind of ridiculous. Enter the beaters.
We've found the obvious. Geo metros (the XFI gets 46mpg combined! Good lord), civics. I'd love to do an 80s diesel. Could mess with bio and/or veggie. So I'm looking for something I could break even, or better yet, make money with. Nothing like a $1000 POS that they'd pay me $1500 to drive.
I'm looking for alternatives that people know of. And better yet, if anyone around this area knows of any of these for sale. Running prefered, but other than that, I'm not sure I care at all about condition. I do have to drive it, but I really don't need an interior. Used to not having much of one anyway.

The mercs don't get the fuel mileage, but I like the idea of a turbo. It's based solely on government rating, not on what I do to it afterwards......
Hmm, they make turbos for geo metros even?

Government website only rates back to 1985.
This is one of my problems with it. Better options are out there, but not on a stupid website.
I'd kill to have a Peel P50.....
