Unless you have some custom set-up for actuating the 6 ports I can't think of a reason why it shouldn't work. Can you take a closer shot of where it moounts too? If not swing by the shop again some day and I can take a look at it real quick. What does the front one hook to for a air source? There should be a nipple off of the ACV valve I believe. I'll search for some s4 pics of that area.
well i got the tanabe springs on last night and i picked up the sr motorsports flywheel and a clutch and pressure plate. but i am in need of an s4 automatic trans rear counterweight to finish the deal. so if anyone knows where one is or has one layin around it would be much appreciated. ill be postin pix tomorrow night.
Is it like last time? Does it hit at all or just crank and crank? Does the timing need to be adjusted for the new engine set-up? And finally, have you checked for decent compression? Be it listening for whoosh's or a actual gauge?
On another note, My neighbors fired up their old GTO tonight. The drunk fat brother came over spouting off about jap cars this, rice burners that, Fast and Furious dude!!! So I sat his brother( the tolerable one) in the passenger seat of my so called "mosquito car" And took him for a spin....when we got back he told his brother to shut up until he knows what he's talking about from now on.
He was very impressed with the mighty triangle!!. Actually wants to come check out an engine next time I have one cracked open.( he used to be a mechanic,) He says he always was intrested in the rotary but never could wrap his head around the concept. I'll learn him up. Then, I left a couple black marks in front of his house to remind him of what just happened!!

hey sam got your message about 1030 tonight. damn second job is killin me. and now they are talking about staying open later. damn the things i do to make money. so i was lookin on ebay for a counterweight and the cheapest one is 118 bucks plus shipping, guess ill hold out for awhile till i find one a bit cheaper. the springs are settling in real nice prolly gonna go ahead and reallign it tomorrow, the rear tires look like im about to go run a road race the camber is so far out. neways looks like sam is gonna be bringin my car to the meet again. but ill update you guys as the week goes on.
Compression sounds super strong. Spins....POP!.......Spins some more......POP! Let out a good one that shot a flame that almost caught the carb on fire! I didn't put the rubber plugs in the the corner seals. Only one of the 5 engines I tore down had them. One of the S-3 engines we broke down had them, the other didn't. I know they are supposed to help with startup, but you don't have to use them. I think this is making the first start a bitch!
Went to Chimney Rock in the mountains today. Ran the Nikki Carb with whatever and whatnot done to it. MAN it rocked! I am scared to really get into it on the corners (blame my old celica for that) and got the wheels to squeal in one corner. That corner was a doosey, it tightened up near the end. Just kept the car neutral and started to feed it gas when it understeered, and cleared up.
Vids in the morning!

So is the POP thru the carb? It sounds like timing to me. I know you checked the flywheel, front pulley, etc. However, maybe you have the plugs to the ignitors switched (actually firing trailing before leading). Check that out. You might want to just remove the trailing sparkplug wires to take trailing out of the equation (you don't need it anyway). If it still pops thru the carb, try advancing the dizzy.
Adding a little oil or seafoam down the barrels will boost compression. If all else fails, tie her to Big Blue and pull her until she fires.

As you said, the rubber plugs aren't really a big deal. Most engines lose them over time. I have solid corner seals in mine, so no need to worry one way or another about the plugs.
Yeah Kent, I have tried it with just the leading only. The dizzy was the only thing that has been disturbed in the ignition. None of the wiring has changed. It's not backfiring through the carb. The "pops" have been out the exhaust ports. The "pop" that almost caught the carb on fire was due to the mass amounts of ether. The fire came out the exhaust port and went around the intake to the carb! The engine I got from Stu (Ray's old engine) took me almost 4 days to get fired off the first time. It seems like a long time, but I had an hour or so each day to mess with it. This one will come around. It will just take time....................
