It's too slack from what I can tell. I had to leave it alone so I could work on the Cheeto for a bit. I've almost got it finished, just gotta figure out where some of these damn vacuum lines go.
I know what you mean, I used to switch back and forth between the first gen, the second gen, and the Supra. The Supra felt like a truck compared to the sevens! It's something you never really get used to if you keep switching cars all the time.

I like to reply to a reply haha , yeah , its a great motor , the 84-85 13 b was also durable "3 mm apex seals" and lacking power but becuase of leaky fuel injectors that the seals die more rapidly over time , same for the other years . my next plan is to build a few hybrid 4 port s5 combo engines next year , my hands will be tied with an up comming pp 12a build , in the process of swaping all gsl-se gears , brakes and trany after rebuilding them , speaking of that I need to locate 1-2 more se or other 4 lug second gen wheels . After that its paint and body work , shocks , springs , bars and then scca membership again early next year , though I will take the 4.33 posi to 411 dragway "need to swap driveshaft flanges", " I only go thier because you can actually get 15 runs or so and really dial the car in , then go over to knox drag spank a few unsuspecting v8 owners "gotta love it " - keep on rotating guys ! good luck with all your projects !

Wow... sounds like you've got quite a bit going on there. I hope you can make it out to our next meet. Which I'm assuming will be the autocross at Pellissippi this Sunday.
Also, an old friend of yours keeps telling me that your first gen is really fast...

haha , if you want to steal it for pimp my ride sure , but no tvs and no messed up paint unless its green and orange factory mazda style =P or gay chrome rims , any way I thought it was you , so thats why I kind of gave you the wave and gave it some hell . Now as for Lizard its not really all that fast , just 1/8th mile fast after that it runs flat because of the nikki being mostly a factory carb , deffinately could use more fuel at top end speeds , but low end is good thanks to gross jetting and manual 4 barrel conversion , overall I have alot of work to do , so I am saving up the cash now , I am sure all of us could use more money considering the countries current state of epic fail economy , anyway good to see you guys out thier , we should do lunch sometime ! Keep it rotating !

Hey Jay, I might need to take a look at the limited and see where all these damn vacuum lines are supposed to plug up. I still have a couple missing links after removing the rats nest.
you guys and your first gens...only "first gen" i have is my conquest lol only cuz its only made for 6yrs. But it cant be THAT hard to redo all of the hoses in there with the internet at your side and a haynes manual..can it, i mean I could redo all that crap on the NA if I ever had to and the haynes covers the widebody pretty well for when it gets de-emissioned

Well, the problem is that the Chilton/Haynes only shows the stock routing of the vacuum lines. No good once you've eliminated everything. And the rats nest removal guide is missing some key pieces to the puzzle. So add all that to the fact that the vacuum system has already been tampered with (found a random T-fitting that wasn't even supposed to be there) and you've got quite a mess. I think I'm just going to cap everything off that I can't find a place for, and then try to fire it up and see what happens.
That's a good idea Jimi, though what im gonna end up doing once **** gets capped on the widebody is figure out what NEEDS a vac source (like the distributer and other small things) and only run for them with clean runs of piping.

I have the important stuff hooked to vacuum, like the dizzy and such. But I'm not so sure where to route the #2 anti-afterburn valve after the rats nest removal. Right now it's capped.
Now here's the thing... to my surprise, the engine fired up after minimal gas pumping and cranking, and held idle at 750! But I noticed really quick that there was gas pouring out of the main line where I forgot to tighten the banjo bolt on top so I shut it off. Durf. So I tightened it down, but now it only fires and dies like it has a vacuum leak. Go figure, eh? I'm not seeing anything in the sight glass so I'm guessing it's just not getting fuel now. I might have to blow air through the return line to get fuel flowing again. As for right now, I'm letting the gas-soaked engine bay air out.

oh something i forgot to ask, my FC has a wideopen exhaust, aka, downpipe to midpipe to catback, so obviously its not exactly... emissions friendly... do you guys know of a shop in Johnson City, or near by that'll pass my car?

Oh okay. I'm not aware of any emissions testing in Johnson City. So far around Chattanooga and Nashville are the only places I know of that do smog tests.

Nah, don't believe so. I'd ask FirstRotaryExp to be sure, he lives in Dandridge. Tennessee is still pretty relaxed about what you can put on the road here. Most of us are throwing out fireballs between shifts
yeah but not nearly as expensive as it would be up north...
it seems like TN doesnt entirely care about the whole DOT and EPA thing that the northern states have. Which means that its a ton easier to register, insure and drive so... yeah. xD

OK try this link , and your problems are solved , I set all my customers 1st gens up with a variation of this set up. "Some things like emissions you may want to keep , depends on your personal needs" http://maz_tutorials.ten15.net/Tutorial_1.pdf
I can't figure out where the crankcase vent line for the oil fill tube runs to. I know one runs to the firewall but they never really show where the other one runs to.

Yeah... the bowls just aren't filling at all. I'm seeing nothing in the sight glass. So no idea what the issue is there. I know it's getting fuel to the carb, because I had a nice fountain before I tightened up the banjo. I also tried running air pressure through the return line. No help there. I didn't mess with the float levels, and they looked level and even when I put it back together. So why am I not getting any fuel into the bowls? What say you, Nikki carb gods?
