If I were you I'd get a TII, or at least swap in a TII. PP's are unreliable, a bitch to tune, and don't last very long. Where as a TII with a BNR turbo and supporting mods (fuel/exhaust/etc.) can make 300hp all decade.

Because I'm stupid for one. Two... I've put a lot more time and blood into the TII and it's one of those things I'd rather never have to sell, so I can be one of those old guys that says "Yeah, I've had this thing since I was a teenager." That and if I ever wanted another one, it would be hard to find. First gens are everywhere.

First gens...everywhere? Odd...I see more second gens all over than I do first gens. But good luck trying to get what you want out of it Jimi, although I dont see anyone trading a sport bike for it.

Well, they're always up for sale at least. And usually pretty cheap. FC's are really common, but not TII's. There's less and less of them around every year. Who knows if anyone will trade me straight up. I'm not that picky on bikes and they can be pretty cheap. I'll probably just end up using the money to buy one outright.

eh, most 500+ cc sport bikes still command 5k+ with NEW being 10k+
But the kicker is insurance, helmets, and proper riding gear.

I can get a brand new '08 Ninja 250R for $3500 msrp. I could probably talk them into throwing in a nice helmet for the sticker price. I just hate the idea of borrowing money so I'd rather pay cash for a used one. I went to a dealership this morning, and surprisingly there are a lot of nice new bikes for under 7k. The '07 model R1's and R6's were very affordable, as were the ZX-6's and ZX-10's. Most were around 5 or 6k. They had a new Ninja 500R there for $4500. Bikes are pretty cheap.

Derrick, you are right about the gear and insurance. I haven't looked into insurance costs yet (another reason I'd rather not borrow money on a bike), but I know how much gear costs. That's why it would be great to trade straight up for a bike, because all my extra cash I have sitting around could be spent on some nice gear. There's always used stuff though, and it's cheap and easy to find.

Yeah, but think of it this way jimi, do you want used gear when the bikes gets laid out and you go sliding along the pavement? Leather's last a long time and through alot of scrapes, but you never know how much its already been through. Dont cheap out on **** that will keep you from needing stitches or skin grafts man, just keep your hide intact.

Pfft... stitches and skin grafts? What, you think I have insurance? I'll just bleed to death, it's the cheapest option of all!

Whatever you say Jimi, its your skin out there. I was up on the dragon sunday and watched a biker on a full dresser just lay his bike over in one of the lowspeed hairpins. Didnt really hurt the bike or his fat ho that fell off the back, BUT his right shoulder was totally raw just from falling off the bike, no protection of course but y'know what i mean.

Nice Derrick. I gotta learn to ride before I can start thinking about the Dragon. I know it'll happen eventually though, it's inevitable.

yeah, but riding a motorcycle is almost the same as riding a bicycle, you just dont need to pedal, and you have a 300+lb machine to lift up should it fall over.
