Alabama 7s: H'ville to B'ham to Mobile
Yes, caravan sounds good but ot sure if Don will be done. I was able to get out a bunch of air out of cooling system tonight so I hope that solves the running hot issue. I still have to fix the oil leak and exhaust leak. Maybe I will do that in the morning.. How is yours going?
Well, I've been lazy I guess. I was going to go ahead and remove the front bumper last night but when I got home my son wanted to go fishing so I did that instead. I picked up my K&Ns this morning so I'm about to leave work for a while and see how they fit.
From what I'm gathering I can still use my Optima battery with my FMIC and not have to get a mini. I think I can cut the battery tray and turn it so that it's not in the way of the radiator. Anyone have any thoughts on this? Do I have to buy a mini to get everything to fit? Not much for relocating the battery either.

drove it again today and feel pretty sure the temps are good now. Holding 84 on commander. Still have oil and exhaust leak and did not have time to look at either today. Also still having some boost isues. I need to confirm what spring is in my tial wastegate. Seeing 16.5 psi today with boost control off. Been doing some loging and fuel enrichment and so far so good.
the clutch would probably get written up as abuse at 28k miles by the dealership. they'll want to fork out the least cash that they can while bending you over on the labor to install the parts.
Might as well go ahead and bolt on a supercharger if you're gonna have to change the clutch
I'm guessing the money for that clutch could let me get the FEED front w/paint, the bumper lights, the sideskirts and few other goodies for my FD...really sux Mike.

He just purchased the car a few months ago, so even with it being previously owned, it still should have some warranty from the place he bought it.
No warranty ! I was given 30 days option on the warranty and passed. It would not have covered the clutch anyway. It also is void if you add a power adder (super charger) hence the main reason I passed at the time. I still may purchase one from porshce but have gotten mixed reviews from the porsche forum if needed.
It seems pretty normal for the clutch or the clutch lever to go on them from 20k miles up (from what I have searched).
Price is not that bad after all. Anywere from 1200-3k depending on what needs to be done.
Oh well, atleast the FD is up and running!

Yah, I'm sure niether helped but I drive it hard all the time! I would have thought it would have had some small signs first. I might even just do it myself! Need to research it but I have read of guys doing it themselfs in 4 hours! Maybe I can get Dustin to rent me his lift one day??
I thought it would be lot more but thats not bad.. I'm sure if we took our FDs to the dealership, they would charge over $1000 to replace the stock clutch.. Can you get something more agressive for the 996?
lol.
Well, I finally hit that cool night spot last night. Took my dad to Hooters in H'ville (ran into Don there) and on the way back home I kicked it down in 3rd and BOOST CREEP to 16.3psi! The damn thing starting shaking violently and I thought I had blown the motor but I had my limiter set at 15psi so I guess it was kicking in and trying to cut the boost because everything is fine now. Running 13.5 on high settings and 11.5 on low. Scared me though because I thought I had screwed up big time. Guess I'll eventually have to port the wastegate or stick in a high-flow cat. Damn cool air!

or switch boost control! I have heard of many brands and just differant models having issues such as boost creep.
I just got back from about 45mins of logging and I am still way rich. Temps did ok considering 90+ outside and my undertray is still off. stayed around 86 but went up to 88-89 after a few pulls. Boost is still an issue with me too. I am still seeing 16.5 with boost controller off. I am going to see what spring is in my wastegate (should be blue .9 bar). Then I am going to replace the vac lines going to boost guage and boost control as they are many years old. But progress is being made as I have been pulling it to around 6k and still in the high 9's too low 10's on A/R's. I have a suggested A/R grid that I am trying to match but its going to take a long time at this rate.

No confidence in my skills?
) just make or buy one that fits the battery.
