Ok, I removed the "S" pieces on my intake and I went ahead and tried to put the HKS filters back on just to see what would happen and sure enough, my hood wants to raise about an 1/8th inch on the passenger side because the HKS filters are stacked one on top of the other.

I need some K&Ns that are less than 5 and 1/2 inches in diameter.

Brad,

You might want to do what this guy did with the KN filters..

He just plugged it right into the hardpipes.

Mike, thanks a lot for the help with the Boost Controller! It'll take me a couple of days to fine tune it but I learned a few things messing with it tonight.

Don, maybe you can help us with my FMIC but we might have to do some cutting and drill some holes

Well I got out there and started working on my car again yesterday after a long time of not really doing anything to it, but don't worry the world isn't coming to an end. I started modding the headlights to convert them to "Wael's sleepy eyed conversion". I'm going to try and finish the headlights and the battery relocation today.

Ride home was good but I couldn't do much with the controller. I searched around last night and found a guy with almost the same setup as me and so I tried his settings....took it out for a spin just now and with his LOW settings I was constantly hitting 14.6psi!!! Not that I don't mind that because I'll probably use that for my HIGH settings but I still gotta figure out the low.

So far everything I've tried to keep my low settings around 11psi has resulted in 12.5 to 13psi. I guess I could just go with the lowest settings possible that are programmed into the controller. I'll just have to see. Thanks again for the help guys.

One other thing. My peak hold on the controller reads 14.6psi like I said earlier but the peak on the PFC was .85bars!!!! 14.7 * .85 is like 12.4psi!!! The instruction book says the controller converts using 14.5 so my PFC should've read 1.01, right? I know the PFC is off a little but not that much is it? Or am I just totally confused?

Brad

Ok did some more tuning on the boost controller tonight and this is what I've got so far:

LO settings I'm getting 11.9psi, so I'm pleased with that. Rather it be closer to 10.5 but whatever.

HI settings I'm getting 13.2psi at peak and the PFC reads a peak of 0.88 (12.93psi), so I guess that's pretty good but I'm still working to fine tune the HI settings for closer to 14.5psi. I'll work on it some more later.

Good news and glad its working ok for you. I drove mine today and have a few issues to work out. Oil leak, exhaust leak and car running hot ( think its just air in the system as it was running cool last time I drove it but I had to dran some fluid out to take the turbo and heater hose off. I am pissed at the oil leak as I thought I had that fixed... On exhaust leak I am just going to take it to a shop and have them cut and weld o fix any leaks.

WOW! Everyone is working on their cars. I'm done putting my engine for the VR FD (minus the block off plates).

I have my Blk FD engine on the stand and started to put things together and going to do the wiring harness tomorrow and day after..

Today, Went down to Leo's shop and did some Vac hose job. Leo should be running in about a month.

Hopefully we'll all have a running FD by Chuck's tuning class

Worked on mine today also. Re-ran wires and hoses for boost controller and new boost gauge. Pulled my A-pillar again to make way for the new wideband. Hopefully I can do a little detailing tomorrow to make everything neat for the install.

Mike, that sux about all the leaks. Do you want to take a shot at that extra exhaust gasket that I have? I'll post pics of it tomorrow and you can see if you think you need it or not. But like Don asked...where is it leaking from?...oil I mean

Did'nt even bother to jack it back up as my wife and kids would have killed me since I spent the complete weekend on cars... But looks to be middle rear of engine or maybe below drivers side. I think its going to be the oil level sensor. I think it should have an oring and mine is just rtv'd.

Brad, thanks for the offer on the gaskets but I think its best to take it to a shop as my midpipe and catback are no lined up perfect. In fact I could not even install the racing beat CB for this reason.

Here is my engine bay with K&N's. The small filter is only on the BOV because it blows mists of oil sometimes and it keeps it from getting all over everything.

Chris, thanks for the pic. I ordered 2 K&N RB-0800. I don't think they're quite as big as yours though. The ones I ordered have an outside diameter of 4in. and are only 4in. long as well. They should be in by tomorrow afternoon. Right now though I've made some modifications to my setup and the HKS filters are fitting fine and the hood closes perfect now. If I don't like the K&Ns then I'll just put my HKSs back on.

About the filter on your BOV...is that the filter you can get at Autozone and Advance that's an oil filter breather? If so, did you modify it to fit around the exit tube on the BOV? Just curious because I thought about purchasing a small filter for mine and all I've seen around at the part stores are these oil filter breathers with very small openings on the ends of them.

I think their original purpose is for crankcase ventilation, so it should be fine to use there.

It actually came with the others. I bought a used Pettit, I think, intake setup when I first got the car. It's just a normal filter that was there initially for the air pump, I think. I figured I can't use it for anything else so if I mess it up by blowing air through it instead of sucking in it, oh well.

I've seen some filters about that size at the auto parts store, not sure about the inlet/outlet size though, they should be near the smaller ones.
