not sure on the ebay stuff.. I would keep an eye out for a M2 or other known smic. It is very important to have a duct and I did not see that in the ebay pick you posted. The biggest thing that most people never do is see the actual benefit. I would log your intake temps after warm up say driving temps then after a hard 3rd gear pull see what temps went too. Compare that with the new IC and you will now know if it was a good choice or not. You could always just keep your stock IC and start running meth mix and not worry about it!!! What I plan to start doing son.

Don - I might possibly go that route.

Mike - thanks for the link but at this point I don't know if a FMIC is what I need. Yes, I know I already have a FMIC but my goal was the 330-350rwhp range and I might be wrong but I think I'm pretty much somewhere in that range and I don't see where a FMIC is going to change the hp numbers so much more than a SMIC on the stock turbos. But hey, I'm all game for throwing the FMIC on if someone wants to come help me do some cutting and relocating of parts! <---that's my biggest problem...I'm apprehensive (or you can use the word scared if you wish)

shpaintball - Welcome! This thread is for us Alabama guys to share and discuss ideas for our 7s. Some of us meet up every once and a while, usually either in H'ville or B'ham. Check the section from time to time because we are going to be getting together in the near future so drop by. Also, my name is Brad to

I'm still trying to straighten out my custom v-mount setup. Waiting on the mig conversion kit for my welder so i can fab up the piping... oh yeah and free time to do said fab work.

Fiberglass work is pretty easy for ductwork on a smic. Just make sure you keep some cardboard for templates. I've done a couple f'glass speaker enclosures for friends and the hardest part is the finish sanding. Resin and sandpaper will be the major expenses and they aren't that major.

What a day I had today. I was going to TN today but decided first I would go to the muffler shop and get my new magnacore muffler put in my mid pipe. Go to start it up again to pull it on the lift and it will not fire? I first think its flooded (happens easy with the 1000cc primary's) but after a few minutes I notice my pumps seem quite? Look under the hood at pressure guage and zero pressure? Long story short used my AAA card got the car on a flat bed home, ended up having 2 wire connectors fail on my pumps inside the tank! They just came apart. Not sure if I miss crimped them but I doubt it as I am **** about that kind of stuff. The other conectors inside were fine just the 2 that I bought from NAPA a few weeks back. I just finshed putting it all back together so in the morning I can see if the muffler help any. Just very glad that this didnt happen while on the dyno or boosting on the streets. Would have cost me my motor!

Dang Mike, all that sux. At least you had your AAA card.

I had a bit of set-back today. I emailed and called and left message with the rx7store Saturday about canceling my order on the AEM wideband and gauge pod and sending me the Koyo rad instead. Well guess what arrived at my house today? That's right, the AEM wideband and gauge pod. So I guess I'm gonna go ahead and install it. But now I still need a new radiator and I for sure want a SMIC. So I need to sell my FMIC. I saw where the price on it has jumped to $530 from the $480 that I paid so I'll let mine go for $450.

Brad, honestly unless you just want to upgrade the radiator the stock one is fine. The only downside is the plastic end tanks, but for cooling it is plenty good.

Hey guys. I just wanted to chime in here and say hi. I live in the Shoals area and purchased an 88 RX7 a couple of days ago. I was curious as to when and where, if at all, any of you guys meet up or anything. I've got a lot of questions and all about the car itself, and I need to meet some people that know more about these things. So far I've enjoyed the car, but there are a lot of things that I'm going to have to do to it.

A little about the car itself, it has a different motor, I'm unsure of the year it came out of but it was a wrecked seven. Its a five-speed, has a posi rear from a turbo model, again I don't know the year it came from, and has an issue with some wheel hop on the right rear. Anyways, I was quite excited to see an Alabama thread, since I'm not sure what I've gotten myself into, but I know that I've enjoyed driving this thing, more than I'd have imagined. I got it at what seemed to be a steal, for only 900 so I can't really complain, I just need some help diving into this thing.

Anyways, thanks for your time, and if anyone wants to take a look at it or do anything, PM me and we can set something up. Thanks again.

Edit: Forgot that I had a pic hosted. Forgive the shape, I bought her as is...

OpenSecond, I live in Muscle Shoals and I would be happy to hook up with you sometime. However, I'm still climbing the steep learning curve on my 3rd Gen and I've never owned or worked on a 2nd Gen. There are a few Alabama guys that own or have owned a 2nd Gen and could help you more than I could but I'll do what I can.

I would suggest going to the 2nd Gen Faq thread on this Forum and reading it frontwards and backwards. There will be a few guys there that will be glad to help you out as well. Also I would find a Mazda Shop Manual for your 2nd Gen (you might find one for sale in the Classifieds threads) and keep it second only to the Bible.

Some of us try to meet in H'ville at least once a month. The B'ham guys meet quite often...and there are a lot of National RX7 and Import meets that some of us try to attend. I would try to hook up with you this weekend but I'm leaving in the morning to go to the beach for a week, but I'll give you a yell when I get back.

Brad

I'm thinking about going to that Rolex race, I've been meaning to get down to Barber to check the place out anyways, so this'd be a great opportunity. I just have to get my car sorted out before then. It started having idle issues, won't idle without my foot in the gas. Before the problem showed up, I had no air filter, put one in and it started this mess.. I was reading about the BAC valve in the 2nd gen faqs section, but I have no clue how to even check it.. I did try setting my TPS higher, but that doesn't seem to help it any. Its odd, sometimes it'll idle okay, and then sometimes it just dies. I'm pretty clueless on this one, but this isn't really the right place to discuss it anyways.

Hus, I met someone that knows you yesterday at AutoZone, said he drives a 4 door Teg, didn't catch his name though. Anyways, when you get back, shoot me a PM. I'd love to see your car, and I've got a friend jonesing for one now. He's supposed to be looking at a first-gen today.

Well I came back from the beach a day early....just got in. I still gotta put my car back together so looks like I'll miss the whole 7/7/07 thing. Gotta put the wideband in too.

Sorry I missed you down in Orange Beach, Fred Villamor...maybe next time.

^If you are talking about the SCCA race they actually cut off worker registration due to having to many. They just didn't have enough certified/experience corner workers for each station. The normal everyday local people, like me, got 45 a day, and the certfied got 80. You didn't have to have any kind of license, or even be a member, they were giving out 90 day temp. memberships to those that weren't members.
