Wish I could be at VIR w/ you guys, but it's a day at Slummit for me tommorow. Looks like nice weather, maybe i'll try out the new lap timer.

Nah. No tracking the convertible... by design as it has no roll bar.

I'm retired from instructing because of too many really fast cars in the hands of too many newbies. I'm riding sports touring bikes for fun. Sedate old man stuff.

WaHOO!... The last FATT was a wild one. Somebody hit a dear in the chute (luckily, it was an Impalla SS, and the guy just lined back up with a dent in his door!), somebody swerved to split two more, another idiot blew his mustang and ran all the way down the front straight, on line, dropping fluid, and another rolled a 350Z and crushed the roof. The pass wavage was at a decided premium as well.

My pit neighbors had a nice new C6 Z06 wearing the new CCW 1-piece wheels w/ 295/345 Pilot Sportcups, and another in a GT3. Rumors of the Z's untouchability have been greatly exagerated. I ran right down the straight with it on 12 psi. You single turbo guys have got 'em.

I hope VIR is fun, wildlife-free, and the Audi guys are better w/ the pass waves :-)

I picked up a turbo kit from Fritz today at VIR, and got a ride with him I was very impressed. I dont think we ever got passed, but we sure left a lot of cars behind us, and it wasn't even his track car.

Not sure how Fritz feels, but I thought the pass waves were slow coming also.

Wow, sounds like a lot of excitment. VIR was a blast, even though I had a few problems with my car. First off, it very quickly became evident that my Victoracers were shot to hell. Second because i never had time to get an alignment after putting on my konis, I couldn't get my car to setup quite right, the rear was really tail happy everywhere. THEN i had an oil leak problem which Fritz and Bill Gammon both decided was just blow back oil since I don't have a catch can, but it still cause me to miss a session on saturday because i didn't want to take the car out until i knew what was wrong.

My wife did really well in the RX8, her instructor said she progressed very well, and then 2 other instructors told her she improved greatly over the 2 days. Not bad for someone who's only been driving manual for just over a year. She's already making noises about going back.

I had a great session chasing a yellow C6 Z06 which i got on HD Video - but you'll all have to wait a while for Bill to get it on DVD and send it to me. The damn thing took something like 10 GB of data for two 20 min sessions.

Bill had brought some HDDV Sony camcorder that shot in 1080i HD. He had dumped 2 sessions to a blu-ray VAIO that we watched this morning and it was amazing. Course...now i'm gonna have to get a blu-ray player to watch my videos. lol.

I'm hoping that i can take the data and downsize it or whatever to 480 so I can make some web friendly videos with it.

That's understandable. I was instructing in a single turbo beast last weekend and it'll take tons of seat time to manage that beast at even a consistent 80%.

Slap a roll bar in the vette and do some guest class room appearances

Pete,
Those FATT days are WILD damn!

When you come across a c6 Z with a good shoe behind the wheel you'll be thinking differently trust me hehe. A stock GT3 in the right hands is a monster so a c6 Z will be untouchable.

The Audi group is very good with giving passes but FDs usually surprise everybody.

Johny,
Nice meeting you and glad you enjoyed the ride.

You gots to love HOOSIERS

Stock twins at 10 psi with the bolt ons and wasn't passed once all weekend

However the twins are toast now. They had one foot on the bannana peel and the other in the grave before the event so now they're pretty much laid flat out lol.

Even with temps in the 50s the car was running hot and intake temps should of been better. These cars are really difficult to track all out with stock twins in place.

I was running some type of AVS wheels with 275 40 17s back and 245 40s front. About 27psi in the front and 29 in the rear with the tokicos set at 5 all the way around, Ebach pro springs and the push wasn't too bad. Any oversteer was forced but it's a very safe setup.

Light years away from the KB or Gene's car but still a decent setup.

Glad to hear you didn't have any problems though. Yea, nothing sucks more than some guy in an overpriced/underperforming car that refuses to let you pass because he can't accept the fact that he's getting the pants beat off him by a 15 year old machine.

That was me in the single this past weekend. This was my 5th track day ever and 1st time on the full course so I am by far the slowest part of that car. Fritz helped me get much faster over the weekend. In my last couple sessions I finally got 4 & 11 close to right on a consistent basis. Fortunately the folks in my group were good with point-bys because as I got a better handle on the car they became very frequent. Fritz, thanks for the fun and all the help. Chris

I dunno if it was my exit speed out of oak tree, or the drivers of the 2 C6 vettes in my run group but i was closing on both of them on the back straight and the front straight.

I dunno how much better a shoe he would have needed to be to stomp on the gas down the main straight!

Hey man, i'll give you a ring re: coming down some time this week... if you've got time...

What was your top speed before braking?

I'd say you have 335 rwhp max at 12psi and he has 400 plus so the math doesn't add up. I think those cars are geared pretty damn well too and lord know the torque can handle the weight.

Anytime this week is good

Hey Chris,
You have a really well sorted track car and it was a pleasure riding along last weekend

That car is 100 percent monster and it will take some serious skill to handle it and you certainly have the tools and attitude for the task.

Best of luck in Iraq and hopefully I'll see you at the track when you get back.
