The anecdotal evidence suggests I should be terrified about these temps, but the engine seems to survive just fine. Maybe a UOA is in order.
Yep. Anything over 200 or so just starts to hurt power a bit but I could likely run at 250 all day with no bearing issues etc...

were you happy with the setup ?

I know the tires were quite old .

or was the car under steering at all ?

from the video's point of view the back end looked very planted .
It still loves to turn in which is great because I have zero patience for a car that pushes. The wing is helping to tie the back end down for sure. I didn't have any huge slides during any of my sessions which is remarkable for me.

I checked the times on the laps in the lapping video I posted and it's pretty cool. 5 1.38s in a row and the car is just jogging along in traffic on old rubber. In other words for an old 93 FD it's no joke

If you're comfortable with that, then no need to change. I back off if my water temps get to 220, but that's all in personal preference.

Speaking of oil, how often do you change your track car's oil?

Some people seem to change their oil every single track day, which I think is hugely wasteful (especially at Japanese oil prices), so I have to wonder how many track hours actually justifies an oil change. I am lazy and cheap so I try to do it every 2-3 track days for my track car.

I agree. I've yet to have bearing issues. I usually go 3 events and then change the oil so call it 6 to 9 track days (i usually run high quality 15 50 synth oil). During that time I'm adding at least 1 quart each weekend as there is some blow by etc.... I top off every other session to keep it between 1/4 and 1/2 way up the dipstick. I have a completely different setup now (bacon oil pan etc...) so we'll see how it does with blow by etc....

My car hasn't been on track since 6/2016. LONG STORY!!! I will do a full write up at some point when I have time.

Currently tracking a 2010 GT3 so don't feel sorry for me LOL........

Nice!! I have been on the look out for a 996 GT3 myself. I saw pictures on Facebook of your car at Elite.
