Stay 2 feet off the apex (turn a little later) entering oak tree to round it out a little more and get as deep as possible (just touching the curb on back side of oaktree) gathering up some needed track to get around oaktree and out fast.
Obviously like I always say creep don't leap so just get into the rhythm of up shifting to 4th carrying a little more in but keeping the car well balanced (not over braking or jumping on the gas) so you can use the track out to scrub speed if necessary or gently apply more gas if track allows. Nail 10 (on the F course can't remember what turn it is on the S) and oak tree and you'll cut atleast a second.
I love the speed you're carrying into the bitch that's a great corner to practice going in hot but not a good spot to practice coming out hot if you get my drift hehe.
The carousel is a really good spot to work on coming out hot and car control so just shift into second and drop the hammer coming out of there

Thanks to Fritz for a great time and education this past weekend on VIR-S. Fritz is patient and confidence inspiring as an instructor. He help me get my lap times a second or two faster to 1:25 , but I know I could have been faster. I'm not sure, but it seems like I should be able to get in the low 1:20's even on street tires. I need to compress my braking more and there is still line and grip left out there for me. The car handles so well. I did have a front tire I was nursing. It was coming apart so I was holding back a bit. Its a shame there are not more of these cars where they belong.
It seems that it was a bad weekend for tires - those kuhmo knockoffs that I got didn't last the first day with two of us double-stinting the car (glad I had picked up the spare set of Toyos). Fritz was even running out of tire on Sunday.
And speaking of which - thanks to Fritz for a pretty wild ride around the track during one of the instructor sessions on Sunday.

I had great time as well and you did great job getting the most out of your car. Once that boost issue was fixed I think the only car that passed us was Tom (instructor) in his GT3.
There's always more time to be gained under braking but that's the last place to stretch. I think t 10 still has some more in it along with smoothing out the carousel and entrance into the fish hook. Same for me btw those areas of this course are very VERY technical and there's a bunch of time to be gained if you can master those sections.
I should of captured some vids but I never got around to putting the camera in the car. I love the way this car handles. It will do anything I ask even w/ the staggered setup. I attribute the handling to the TEIN race coilovers which I HIGHLY recommend for anyone in an FD running good rubber (275 plus sticky tires) with good power (325 plus power).
NEXT VIR F W/ FSR PORSCHE..........CAN'T WAIT

The Porsche First Settlers event was FANTASTIC.
Good students and GOOD TIMES!
I was hanging with some buddies; Pete, Phillip, Pat and Ram and the only down side was the heat because it was HOT but all of our cars did fine. Pete was running some sick laps is his twin turbo FD (2.12s) and I think Pat and Ram were both below 2.20s in their Porsches. Again it was pretty hot so I don't have any times to brag about but I had an awesome time instructing, concentrating on driving and taking a break from the daily BS, and drive I did. I gave 8 different people rides, spent 300 dollars at the 100 octane pump and wore out a nice set of hoosiers in 3 days
I'll upload a vid from Sunday morning when the temps where around 75 to 80. I was running some 2.09s or high 8s in mild traffic.
Next event is the BMW Marque Madness event on the VIR Full course June 14th and 15th http://www.nccbmwcca.org/index.php?id=137,933,0,0,1,0 This is a fun, well organized group with a wide variety of cars. June 14th and 15th is the Thursday and Friday before the Mazda event on the Grand Course so you could run both to get 4 days at VIR

Dude, that video is 400 mb... what did you do, tape the drive home too? :-)
Great weekend! I think I need to get in better shape to drive in that kind of heat though!

I have no idea what I did because I'm still in a fog from the 3 tall ones Friday night
Somehow I managed to download the video at a very high quality and I don't remember changing any settings.
The heat............yeah you were soaking with sweat when you were changing pads and tires along with packing up your gear. I bet that was a long drive home. However I'm sure you had a blast. Your car is running AWESOME

Yeah I was having some serious difficulty w/ oaktree and I usually do. I didn't nail it once the whole weekend. I need to carry a little more speed in, start my turn in earlier with a huge slip angle which is obviously a bit difficult for me to manage. I need to really be on my game to get that corner right.

Some cup cars were passing me but they're very difficult to see especially the white ones and they were both white
On the back straight I was seeing just over 150 with 275 40 17s so that's actually pretty accurate and on the front I was seeing about 150. I'm dialing in the brakes a bit better in this car and I was able to squeeze the throttle a little longer on both straights. Still have more on the back but not much more on the front. This car has excellent braking. It squats quick and stays straight and smooth.
I'm really happy with how it handles and brakes but I took out a 250lb passenger and was atleast 3 seconds off my pace so the power is nothing special. I'm guessing somewhere between 325 and 350.

I uploaded the vid of the coolant on track through the esses.
Title is something like: PCA VIR F 5-26-07 Coolant on track in the esses
It's not nearly as dramatic looking in the vid but trust me I'm still thanking the track Gods for saving my ***

Nice video Fritz! Dude, after seeing Pete's FD it makes me miss mine
Yeah, the best lap I had was a 2:18. I'm still a little scared to entering the roller coaster after last September. Hopefully, I'll man up next time and take it a little faster and get my times down. Plus, I need to dump my crappy factory Euro suspension and install some serious coilovers. Good seeing you guys this weekend!

I hear that
Pete's car is REALLY nice. It's the strongest twin turbo FD I've encountered at 12 psi.
I'm going to find the tape with me following him a little bit and put that up. I can't believe the way his car was pulling away from me on the back straight and the bridge straight.
2:18s in your car are some very good times. Once you have that car dialed in and figured out you will be ready to step up to a GT3 and show Ram what a great *** it has

After Pete saw intakes temps of 50c in 90f weather he's probably not returning Crispy's phone calls or emails

Seriously the thing worked so good he's going to hold off on the v-mount and just use Crispy's as a prototype to have a duplicate made.
I doubt it because he'll probably need to find an IC.
