I'll be there but God only knows what I'll be driving. Hopefully still an FD but just today the DP almost fell off of Gene's car
No matter how well these damn cars are sorted I can't keep a manifold or DP on one whether it's a single or twin. Two bolts were completely missing one was just hanging on and one was tight. The funny thing is a month ago I just tightened everything up when I did the oil change because they were all loose.Oil pan is of course leaking. Not bad though IOW I don't add between changes.
Boost on the spring has gone down from 11psi to 8psi. Still feels really strong so it may be the gauge. With all that said though just taking a few corners in one of these cars make me smile like a 12 year old on a roller coaster.
Maybe I just need an NA 3 rotor.
See you in Nov. my brother. BTW your parts shipped yesterday UPS ground
PS don't forget about my rotors. More than likely I'll need them when I wear out these APs.

I never even hit WOT, toed it in to about 6/8's throttle and still hit 150 on the back straight. Hopefully a few of the RX-8's who I passed on the straights will post the vids. I need to get a camera mount installed for the next. Since the last track day was over 8 years ago, the track bug has bitten me as well.

Glad the bug found you again

However I can't believe how lucky I was before i started trailering my ride. Good move and see you soon
I am pretty sure Gene used Nord-Lock washers on his dump tube (at least we suggested to him to use them <g>) and they work really great. If anything gets loose I purchase some for it and I haven't had one come loose yet.
If you want some info, check here: http://www.nordlock.com/
You can buy them at www.mcmaster.com just do a search for "wedge lock" they are actually Nord-Locks. BTW up the torque ~20% to make it comparable due to the additional friction.
I thought that may help you ...OR you could just buy my car too
Good luck,
Grant

I had same issue with manifold and wastegate bolts, so i drilled holes in the bolt heads and safety wired them, they do not and can not come loose now :-) its worth the effort.

Brad had his old car safety wired which seemed to work but I had to take everything apart when the manifold cracked to pieces.
Where do you get the saftey wire hardware IOW the bolt heads with holes drilled through.
Thanks,
Fritz

Hey Grant,
That's what he had on there but evidently they aren't quite up to the task

PM me with a link and price I didn't see it on the forum (don't forget the racers discount LOL) on your car.
Thanks,
Fritz

well Andy (gooroo) and I have been on a quest to find pre-drilled bolts with not much luck, we found a lot of places that sell predrilled hardware in general, but not in the metric sizes we need.
I did mine the old fashion way, drilled them myself!!! :-) I beat up a few drill bits, but it worked well, my only change would be to drill 4 holes, not just 2, sine the position of the bolts will make it hard to thread the wire in some cases unless you have done 4 holes.
the safety wire and plyers i got fom longacre i think:
http://www.longacreracing.com/catalo...d=942&catid=21
http://www.longacreracing.com/catalo...d=940&catid=21
but you can get this from a lot of places online, like here:

For the metric stuff try:
http://www.cfi1.com/index.htm
http://www.yoyodyneti.com/
Off-road motorcycle shops often have this kind of hardware as they use a lot of safety wire as well.

I love the THSCC events they're run SO well
If you guys aren't familiar with this club then get on board.
I just got back from the north course with them and really had some fun. Gene's old car is running well and I saved the Hoosiers which had about 1 good day left for Sunday and it paid off
Ran a 1:41.8 during the time trial which I'm happy with and it may have been near the top of the field. I know an M3 race car ran a 1:39 so FTD isn't in the cards
Hung out with some brothers from the forum who acted as my pit crew which I really appreciate. Probably couldn't of made the time trial with out there help THANKS GUYS!
Next event is later this month with Audi on the full course and hopefully I'll see some FDs there
Video coming up shortly. As mentioned before I put on the Hoosiers which I didn't use at the last event because I was saving them for the time trial and I was LOVING LIFE. I title it big smile because I was really rocking in rolling with those puppies on

Fritz, you'd be crazy not to keep some 18" hoosiers around for that car... otherwise it's like asking Fred Astair to dance in a pair of sketchers.
I'll have to download some North course video from Mazda and see what I ran, though it was cold and traffic-y.
Any interest in the May Seat Time? I'm not sure I'm going to make it to The Glen.

Hey, i just wanted to say thanks again, Fritz, for being an excellent instructor. I had a great time, learned a ton, and can't wait to do it again.
For those of you who don't know, Fritz is a great guy and incredible driver. Taking laps with him around the course really opened my eyes to the capabilities of these cars and gave me a goal to shoot for in my own driving skills.
It was great getting to hang out with you over the weekend and a pleasure to finally meet you.
~John
PS If you need a stock part...

Like wise don't you just feel like
when you're at the track
I tried loading the video once already but the connection was lost and only part loaded so I'm uploading again.
Title is: THSCC VIR N 4-06 BIG smile
link is: http://fritz.sysadmin-racing.com/
It's long but I was having fun and wanted to capture the whole vibe. At the end on the last lap with a bit of traffic, a passenger and a little drift around t14 I run an easy 1:44.

I hear you my man I had so much fun on the Hoo Hoos that I'll probably splurge and for the 1st time in my track career have BRAND NEW ones. Well actually maybe I'll compromise a little and get some 710s gotta check the prices first though hehe.
I'm all set with the exception of a big exhaust leak as usual
I was hoping it was the DP because I lost another bolt and the other 3 were loose but when I tightened em up and put in a new bolt the leak was still there. I'm starting to think those bolts aren't just for looks and the ******'s welded to the turbo.
Anywho maybe they'll pair us up and we can raise some hell
See you in a couple of weeks,
Fritz

How do you sign up for these races, I would like to get the FD out on the track some time soon after I figure out what coilovers to get and get all these new bushings I have put in. Im leaning towards Tien Flex's.
Auto crossing is fun but I want to get out on a track.
