Thanks Stu. I got thanksgiving week off so I'm shooting for 1st turn over and final wiring testing and if that works out it's plug and play from there. Still need a radiator , hoses and a few prayers. I'll keep you posted, thanks. Dave

Yeah Jeff, I'm concerned about the noise too, can I put more than on silencer on if it's to load. Thought I'd never say that! LOL. 175hp Dam that raises the bar for sure. And competition is always good, and 2nd place sucks.

Hey Foxy. Oh yeah a rotory fits in anything that's one of the cool things. I've see a few Datsun on here, they look fun. As for color it's gonna be blue but I'm still working thru the shades. JG has a really cool Dark Blue (see his pic in this thread) or a lighter French Racing Blue. Either whay the interior will be aviation gray.

You can use as many silencers as will fit.

Could I do a dual exhaust with a cross over pipe? That would give me more room for another silencer.

Anyone using a Westco battery for their rotary? I like the compact size and was wondering if I could use one for the Bugeye.

I have a group size 51. It is small and light. Very popular because Hondas use it.

I see they have one for the Miata and I was going to go with that. How do you get the oil filler tube out. I'd like to install a shorty filler. Thanks, Dave

Thanks Hump, I'll rock that sucker out of there tomorrow. The 75 Midget RE sounds like a cool build as well, you got any pic's. I love to see other peoples efforts and ideas. Thanks, Dave.

Help Needed again!

I'm ready to install vacuum and engine vent lines and I search the sight and found most of what I needed but was hoping someone would confirm what I'm doing is right. First looks like the only vacuum lines are on the Dizzy and I'm just going to hook them to the lower intake. The vent holes however are numerous. There are two big 1/2"+ holes, one on the lower intakes and one under the oil filter, it goes into the iron housing. I assume I just run a hose from this nipple to the lower intake nipple of the same size. Next, there a three smaller nipples, two are on the middle and back iron housing at the top, and one on the oil filler tube. I assume that I just run all these together to a catch can. Am I missing something? Thanks for any help, Dave.

The only vent for the case is the one below the fill tube, send it to a catch can.

The nipples on the back plate go straight into the coolant system. The little one on top on the pass side is sort of a bleeder for air trapped back there. Once you fill the system you can plug it. The big one on the side under the filter can also be plugged, it used to go to the heater. I usually crimp it down to a slot and weld it up if the engine is already together and I know I'll never have a heater again.

The dizzy needs venturi vacuum not manifold vacuum so don't run it to the manifold itself. If your carb doesn't have a vent-vac port you'll just have to set your advance accordingly.

WOW I was way off. I am going to install a small heater core as I will probably need defroster up here in the north. So I can use the big one under the filler. Is it a goes into or a goes out to? There are also two nipples come out of the water pump neck. I'm figuring ones is also for the heater. Not sure what the other is for. Can I put a nipple in my air cleaner for dizzy's? Thanks man, this helps me out a lot.

Its been a while since I've looked at a stock set up but if the nipples on the water pump housing are two sizes, the bigger one is for the heater return and the small one can be connected to the little one in back on the passenger side.

I try my best to stay away from carbs but IIRC the DCOE doesn't have a venturi vacuum port. You will only be able to use the mechanical advance from a dizzy if thats the case. The vacuum port would be at the bottom(mounting surface) of the carb. It will show vacuum only when the throttle is open.

The one thing that sticks in my head when forced to look at a DCOE during vintage weekends playing with Alfa Romeos is that they want to be at a 5 degree up angle and get cranky if forced to live above about 8 degrees. Have some washers ready to twist your engine on its mounts if you're outside this range.

Ok this is disturbing! I'm assuming you are talking about horizontal. 3 degree is much to play with. I gotta look into this, Thanks.

Also whay wouldn't they put a vacuum port on the carb, if you don't use you just plug. That's just dumb.

Yes, the westco will work, a few people use it. There's also the odyssey 925 and 600 something. The 600 is bad for anything you don't have a tender on though because it has practically no capacity.

Thanks Nissan. I gonna go with the WestCo. I don't want to tend the battery if I don't have too.

That 5 degree up is from horizontal and puts the velocity stacks higher than the base. I would be willing to bet the manifold is designed for that range on a stock engine install, just giving you a heads up because of the swap.

No venturi vacuum port goes back to the days when dizzy's were all centrifugal advance. Its progress' way of telling you that you should have gone EFI

Yeah, I kinda figuring that out! You mentioned mechanical means? What do you mean, some sort of mechanical actuation?. As for the carbs can I make a tapered space plate to get the proper alignment?
