what did you do to your rx7 today
This last week Ive swapped out diffs (went from lsd to a welded), made an aluminum e-brake grip(working on the solid brass drift button), and moved the the fuse box in the engine bay to help tuck away some wires. Nothing really impressive; just stuff I have put off way too long.
Oh, and to who ever decides to remove a diff without dropping the subframe, WHYYYYY WOULD YOU NOT DROP THE DAMN THING. I fought for 3 hours and a trip to the bar(had to calm my nerves with some friends) before I said to hell with this and just dropped it. Life was so much easier taking the 2 minutes to drop it, then maybe 2-3 minutes re-aligning it. The diff was out and in after dropping the subframe, so simple, even at 3 am on a gravel driveway with little to no light. Do people just like to make the simplest of things complex? lol end rant.

Went to Drift Evolution here in southern Oregon. 106* heat didn't stop my heat magnit bologna slicer from making good power. Drove against some great drivers, but the rotary held it down for the top spot on the podium. 100$ prize paid for entry fee and gas. Overall it was a good day.
reupholstered my door panels with some microsuede. turned out pretty good i think.

Fired up the FB's new motor. Open downpipe, no radiator or intercooler piping... still lots to do before it can be driven, but at least it means my wiring works. Encouraging, given that this is my first attempt at MegaSquirt and fuel injection in general.
^^ congrats on the startup
do you have a thread? i like to see how you did your ms install.
i made most of my primary fuel rail, heading to the shop to make the secondary now.

I'd be interested seeing your build thread. ^
Today:
I finally got insurance!
Also, I removed both driver and passenger side window glass. The OEM tint was peeling so badly on the passenger side that it was putting resistance on the window motor. The driver side wasn't so bad... But it was still peeling.
After removing the OEM tint, I attempted to removed the sticky adhesive with Goo Gone... No luck. CRC Brakleen worked very well, though. I was able to complete this whole process, including reinstallation, in a reasonable amount of time.

This is what Sean and I did to my FD on Friday. Hopefully he will get all tha welding done tomorrow and we can start replacing the clutch/flywheel on Tuesday. More photos to follow...
^ Good work.
Earlier today I removed the turbo from my engine bay. I'm bound and determined to get this broken exhaust stud out of the engine block. (It is IN there... Nothing to bite.) - I have quite a few ideas, though.
I'll be making my own exhaust gaskets, too... As long as an automotive place around here has the sheets of material.

The FB drove under MegaSquirt power for the first time today. It's still very rough and I'm dealing with some noise from the CAS signal (I suspect grounding issues), and a weirdly consistent misfire above moderate load, but it's a start.
Here, have some crappy cell phone pictures.
The engine ready to get dropped in:

Getting it wired, intercooler mocked up, etc.:

This was about the point when we realized the wastegate actuator for the secondary turbo was completely in the way of the radiator. No way to fix that without spending a bunch of time engineering and fabricating stuff, which we had neither the time nor inclination for. So, the twins came out and the S5 turbo that was in the car before went back in.
MegaSquirt fully installed in the glove box:

Complete and ready for a test drive:

In case you're wondering, the hood is in fact able to close, but the intercooler piping hits the hood support bracing. I'll probably end up taking a mallet to the bracing, which ought to take care of that. I'll deal with it later.

Congrats on getting it running with that MS.
Next on my list is finish transmission modification/reassembly and install the driveshaft loop in preparation for the drag strip next Wednesday.

I haven't been on here in forever! I finished up my exhaust today. I put on a Apexi N1 that my friend gave me. I brought it out from the drivers side. It was off a 240 so I had to do a few things to it. I also dropped the trans to change out the clutch disc from a rx8 stock to a 6 puck act. I wanted to finish up the cage and some other stuff to the engine but ran out of time. I love my car and I can't wait to drive it at SevenStock!
Car is a 86 sport model making it into a Time Attack monster lol
Its a Na 6port with a full bridge and a Holley 650 and a high rise equal length header I made
here at the shop. I love this car I love mazda and all the Rotary family!
Peace and Love Goodnight!
