Also, any 'recomendations' in the city where to get an inspection?
I just take my car to my friend at mercedes and it passes . Might have to just throw him a couple bucks extra...

i wouldnt advertise that for your friend. i had people tell some friends that about me, and i had a couple people expecting inspection stickers from me when they knew their car didnt pass. if its a close friend or family member, thats cool, but when you get into people you dont know, you could have a state trooper up your *** real quick. ive seen it happen. i would hook it up for you, but thats the reason i dont do it for people that arent real good friends.

My primary concern is how stringent they are on emmissions equipment. I do have a cat, but nothing else. Trust me, I would rather do this legitimately.

I am certainly not looking to get anyone in trouble, so if you guys are not comfortable sharing info, that's cool too.

oh, i feel you man, i wasnt saying that, i was just saying that last time someone said i would hook it up for someone i didnt know, it kinda put me in a weird situation.

most places wont notice that your air pump/everything else is blocked off unless you have nice shiney plates on your intake. they may look underneath, but the rule is that if it has emissions equiptment, it must be in place, but doesnt not have to function properly. it has to be hooked up so that it 'should' work. but, before i got my licence, no one noticed on my first gen that it was missing all that crap even with the silver racing beat block off plates, unless they just didnt care.

i dont know of any off the top of my head since i do my own stuff, but im sure there are plenty of places out there that will let you slide.

Here was the eBay auction for my TII:

I'm making a few changes before attempting to re-sell - I might even get it running (:gasp!)

I am debating what to go with for replacement of the FC's rustback exhaust system I currently have.
Corksport - it's cheap, it's 40 lbs lighter than stock, but I also hear it cop attracting loud (and maybe even a little rice)
Racing Beat probably ther nicest most expensive way to go but sooooo shiney
OR
see if someone here still has anything left to sell

I'll have to see what I get for the BMW and back on my taxes to see what I can afford - I oweCitibank a couple of grand still. It's starting to look like used Mazda car lot at my house FD, FC, Miata, MX-6.
The Miata is going up for sale soon too (its not mine it's the GF's extra one).

Hey guys. I'm thinking of getting a TII, but I would like to have a chance of driving or riding in one before I settle on an RX7.

Is there anyone that has a TII that I could meet up with in the Richmond/Midlothian area that could show me there car? I live in Midlothian and commute to VCU during the day.

My cell is 804-380-6401.

Thanks, Tom

I would have no problem letting you check out my rx-7. I am not even a mile from vcu. Problem is it is a fully gutted track car, and its a se model with a t2 swap and standalone. Good thing is it has the stock turbo so it would give you some idea of the power. Other that that, for ride quality or any other aspect of the car is completely gone.

There is a guy selling a nice black turbo 2 in virginia in the classifieds that was having ignition problems after the new rebuild. I think its goin for 3 grand but well worth 5-6 if it was running.

Cool. Is there a number I could reach you? Or just give me a call 380-6401.

I'm considering a standalone, modified TII so I'm interested to see anything anyone has.

Thanks
Tom

Did any of oyu guys go up to the Mazda Zoom Zoom Live event in DC last weekend? I met a guy with an FB from Richmond, but he says he doesn't read this forum. I met lots of people I knew online from the DC area, and saw plenty of people from the Hampton Roads area. I put a writeup about my experiences there, if anyone is interested:

I will try to make it with the RX8, wish the 7 was ready for the road....maybe by springtime.

Update-I spotted a rare breed the other day called Zach McAfee. He said he has not forgotten about us, has just been extremely busy with work, 12 hour days and stuff. Still no excuse to not make it to an autocross every now and then!

I thought all the zach mcafees were extinct, something to do with intake mainfolds explosions and carbuerators or something.

Well with that much work and no life he must have plenty of money spend on his 7 (just no time).
