Well.. what is used to inject the water?? that's what i want to know.. and what do i need to build it? I would like for it to look like nos bottles sitting in the back next to my spare tire i have in the trunk. (is the actuall rim sitting in the back. you might have seen it)

Don't most people just use the coolant reserve tank?

You need a high-pressure water pump, some tanks, and some injectors sized approprately for the size of your engine and injectors... and you need an ECU that's capable of running water injection.

I've seen people use the windsheild washer fluid tank... and use the windshield washer fluid for the "water"

you do not need any ecu mods to run water injection. Their are kits on the market that run a single stage which is on all the time and a second stage that has a boost sensor on it and when it sees boost it turns on. Also the flow is adjustable by a 8 way switch. Also these kits can be used on NA motors for better gas economy. Also aid a NA motor thats been turbo'd run a small intercooler without heat soak.

err, ok, so you need an ECU to do accurate water injection that's based on the pulse-width of the fuel injectors. That's what the megasquirt does anyway.

The reasoning behind this is so that no matter what, you're always spraying a fixed percentage of your Air/fuel mix as water...

So if you get water injectors that are 20% of the flow of your fuel injectors, a fixed 20% of your air-fuel mix will be water... The megasquirt just injects water at the same pulse-width as the fuel injectors...

So yeah you may be able to do water injection without an ECU, but if you want to know exactly how much of your air-fuel charge is water at all times, you need more accurate control of it than those kits can give you.

Another thing to keep in mind about water injection is that while it's actually spraying water, you should turn off closed-loop (meaning go open-loop) as injecting water messes with the O2 sensor readings.

Yeah, WTF was I thinking...

That's what I meant to say, not coolant reserve tank... that'd be bad...

but if any other component in a turbo system fails (and if you have setup water injection as a protection measure rather than for constant use) you can have a buffer zone in addition to "every add on to let you know your system has failed hopefully before its to late."

buk: I'm just really really anti-use of water to tune. *shrug*

I agree with suds on this one... at least for the on-boost part of the use..

I do like the idea of running it at cruise to advance the timing and save gas.

considering the fact that every house is ruined, i'd say it's pretty freakin bad.

they're expecting relief/repair efforts to be more costly than that of 9/11. you want to help? send money to the red cross - they're gonna need it.

as long as you can safely retard the timing if the water is no longer there, I'm with you 100%. :P

Mine seems to work just fine - Crashdummy thinks we should check the timing to get that idle under control - ethier that or we're missing a vac leak

Also - Crashdummy is in need of a welder - asap - let him know if you got the skillz
