I see that one all the time too, I've been in his house once but he wasn't home at the time. I drive down that road every day because I work all over severna park and arnold.

There's a black fc on one of the roads behind the arnold McDonalds on Ritchie Highway and Arnold rd. And I've seen a silver FD in the annapolis area somewhere back off of St. Margarets, I would have to look at a map to remember the road, in that case his neighbor said it wasn't currently running.

I also noticed yesterday a white vert. fc for sale on ritchie highway between arnold and severna park, northbound side.

Clutch Replacement

Good day to all...

I have read this thread off and on for about a year now, you folks sure seem to help each other out a lot....thats great.

Now for business, I think I need to replace the clutch on my S4 TII, does anyone know of a good shop that can do that without snatching the gold filling out of my head to pay for it. I normally take my car down to Bret @ RP in Manassas Park, but I'm not sure if it will hold up for the trip from Waldorf. Or could I do the work myself (I have adequate mechanical skills, but have never replaced a clutch)

Any help would be greatly appreciated !!!

Clutches are a bitch. Especially the part where you have to reinstall the transmission. It usually takes some rocking back and forth of the engine, even with a transjack it's not THAT much easier. It usually takes me about 6 hrs to do it by myself with jackstands and a trans jack, and a creeper. Creepers make things so much better. It gets pretty expensive to have someone do it. Usually 350-500 depending on labor rates.

That would be.. (from google, phone may not be current..)

KEARNEY RACING
1223 Marblewood Avenue
Capital Heights, MD 20743-1232

Phone: 301 322 3240

They don't seem to have a working website anymore.

I had them replace my clutch a couple months ago. I provided a new clutch disc, pressure plate and bearings. They provided a replacement flywheel when it was discovered mine was cracked. They also fixed a leaking transmission seal and problem with the slave cylinder.

The original price quote was $350. The actual charge ended up being $999.70.
Part of that is the $200 for a used flywheel.

So about $800 for labor and misc parts/fluids.

They do a lot of work on rx7's. I've read about Kearney on here and my car wasn't the only rotary in their garage that week either. I've only heard good things about them but that was more than I was expecting to pay.

When you want to get it done? I've done plenty of clutch jobs on sevens. I'll help you out.

Been gone for a while. I'm kinda back and kinda not.

Status of my FC... Broke some exhaust stuff, including and exhaust manifold bolt. Ended up removing the motor and having the bolt whole redrilled and tapped, that didnt hold so had a thread insert put in and now that issue is fixed. While reassembling the motor, broke on of the original metering oil lines, ordered replacement, should be here wednesday and then the car should be back on the road shortly after. (And I'll be selling it shortly after as well to make room for the Ram 1500 or F-150 I'll be buying soon.

Status of my FD... We'll after much battling with engine importers and a little financial strife here and there, the motor is finally in transit. Verified it with its tracking number and it should arrive thursday. Problem is... due to so much difficulty with just getting the motor I ended up getting an entire J-Spec front clip. Anyone have a forklift to get this damn thing into my garage? I contemplated looking into the legal BS of converting my car to right hand drive but off of speculation alone, I don't think I want to do that. At any rate the motor and trans will be here this week.

Ken... I'll be getting in touch with you soon so I can get that MS off your hands. Sorry about the delay. I'll probably buy a newer MS off of you now that it looks like they're available and I know you've been workin on one

Last thing... any of you going to Tail of the Dragon on Sept. 10. If I have the motor swapped in the FD buy then I'll be making the trip.

I really have to see your car. Thats the main reason I've been driving all the way to columbia to the meets. I usually hate piston engines in seven, FD especially, but yours and jimlab's projects intrigue me for some reason.

Err, the V3 board that I have is for my own project car. It has also never been tested on an rx7.

The one I originally built for you is still sitting there waiting.

Or did you mean you still want the one I built for you, and you want a v3 board in addition?

school was awesome. you could make your own schedule ... pick a class in the late afternoon on mondays for those crazy wkends. or no class on mondays. you can roll into class with sweats and flipflops and no one cared. you could bail out of class or have someone cover for you.

summer's off .. spring break, winter break, public holidays, snowdays ... life was good back then.
