Pretty well for my car only revving to 6k rpms (still working out the kinks with my MS3X upgrade) and only running 5 psi of boost (in the middle of swapping boost controllers). I placed 1st in my class ahead of a 300 hp turbo FB. The really fast guys in my class weren't there though.

new suspension worked awesome. You and Rocky should come out to the next one FedEx is a blast.

Maybe next year, after we move and I can put money into some upgrades. My car is too slow/old for that course.

your car would probably be in road tire E stock... not really the fastest class :-P Your car being slower than other people's doesn't make it any less fun. In my experience upgrades usually just make you in a higher class so you're even less competitive

Hey guys, i need some input from the rotary heads.
Well i just got the BaD news from speed1 about my NA motor. I was going to have it rebuild/streetported. Well after Dave broke my motor down, he find out the motor is trash. Not rebuildable :'( so.... He gave me a couple different ways to go. But reman motor then port it, put a motor together with good used parts around there amazing shop, or buy jspec turbo motor...
Meanwhile i will be driving this car pretty much everday.... Im looking for some hp but more into reliable.... What you guys think? Its blazing red 91 coupe with no s.unroof

Just so you know, I don't know what I am talking about. But, if I was in your position, I'd probably get the reman and have them rebuild/port that. I would assume that the internal parts would be matched by Mazda better then the parts they have around the shop. I think you will get better balance with the reman unless they are going to balance their in house parts for you.

Again, I don't know for sure but that is my guess. You can probably ask Dave what he thinks about that.

For what its worth I never heard good things about JDM Motor's. You never know how long they have sat, current condition etc.. Which would put you in the same boat your in now. Best bet would be getting a reman and porting it.

As Jack said, a ticking time-bomb as they sit. If you go with one of these you are going to still need to rebuild it if you want reliability. Honestly, I do not know what the value would be for going with one of these, are they cheaper? Do they have to do less porting?

yeah, you also have to realize that the reason most of these rx7s in japan are ending up in junkyards is because they have blown engines....

that being said, I'm not sure you can get mazda remans anymore. at least not second gen remans.

Well, now i've decided what im doing as far as the engine is. Now dave told me , i could save alot of money by not porting the motor & just go with a better flywheel & counterweigh. Too break down the reman motor, replace rings & do a port job is around 1,100. Or go with better flyhwheel/counterweigh. Now my bill is getting up to my budget number & not looking to spend a **** load. But a ported rotary engine sounds beast & about to say **** it to my limit. Need some input from you guys.

FWIW: A bridge ported engine sounds like a beast, but then it is highly recommended to not use as a daily driver. A street ported engine, which is fine for everyday, doesn't sound much different.

Money talks and bull*** walks. It all comes down to what you want out of the car and how much money your willing to spend to get there.

I'm Pretty close to you, right off Dale Blvd. In a few months I'm hoping to be putting in some work on my FC. Mostly steering and oil related. Unless I'm allowed to spend enough money on a Turbo and a standalone as well.

I have one goal, It's to beat Mike at EVERYTHING.

I might as well post it here so everyone who might be interested can see.

FedEx autocross is put on by the SCCA. Here is the local chapter's autox site:
http://www.wdcr-scca.org/SoloAutocro...6/Default.aspx

the next autocross is in a week and a half on Sunday 6/3. you should be able to find out how to sign up through that site. Send me a PM if you need help classing your car.

There are also some smaller groups in the area that are a bit easier for beginners to start with. My favorite being Capital Driving club: http://www.capitaldrivingclub.com

I would talk to him about about maybe installing a 4 port NA engine, instead of the 6 port. Also, will he be providing the used housings? I had a center one that you can have for cheap (sorry, had to put it out there lol)

The good thing about getting the irons on your own, is that you can port them yourself. I have various porting templates that you can borrow or sketch out.

I wouldn't mess with buying a jspec, and then rebuilding it. You are better off buying the parts separetly, that way you absolutely know that you are getting good parts. Be carefull of NA reman, since last time I check, they werent buidling them (well they were, but they had no estimated time)

Yea, im just gonna leave it up to the professionals... I just need to decide 100% on what i wanna do. As far as a reman install or a jspec turbo motor install with other stuff being install as well.(full exhuast, new clutch, new flywheel/counterweigh, new radiator,coilovers,shortshifter... I personally wanna do the jspec but super scared.. & its about $1200 cheaper. Ive been trying to look up pros & cons of the jspec swap & i cant find any info about the swaps people have done.

If money is tight, you can do the coilover/shortshifter install yourself.

many many moons ago, I did the jspec swap, twice, and ended up having to rebuild it The first engine had bad water seals, and shipping it back was a nightmare. Second engine was better, but borderline good compression; so it was the price of the jspec + a rebuild kit. If you go jspec, plan on rebuilding it on the spot.

What ECU will you be using?

The good thing is, Dave is good people
