Second engine was better, but borderline good compression; so it was the price of the jspec + a rebuild kit. If you go jspec, plan on rebuilding it on the spot.

What ECU will you be using?

The good thing is, Dave is good people
I woldnt even know into the car is finish.... But i just read a couple threads with important info about the jspec. Im sticking with reman with better flywheel. The jspec is a huge gamble & sounds like a nightmare . like you said rebuild on the spot!

I removed the PS from my FC, and I am regreting it. I was kind of hoping that you werent using PS, just to prove that auto xing a FC without PS can be done successfully.

I was previously sucking at auto x on our stock miata, handling the FC without PS and wider/larger tires on the front will be a PITA

nah, it won't be that bad. how did you depower it?

earlier this year I co-drove a friend's MR2 that was "depowered" by essentially unplugging the electric p/s pump but everything was still connected (probably similar to just cutting the p/s belt, but worse) and it has 275 width hoosier slicks on the front... and it was pretty brutal... but yours will be way easier than that.

Here is a video of me driving my friends mr2 horribly...

I've autocrossed a few people's cars without p/s and it's usually fine.

I brought the FB out for last weekend's CDC event. I didn't end up as good as I am used to with the FD, but at least I think I've fixed the power issues. No hiccups this time. I ended up taking a half turn down on the fuel pressure regulator and it seemed to like it. (sorry no videos uploaded yet).

The FB has no p/s with bald 205 RA1s and a small diameter steering wheel. You have to really manhandle it when parking but it isn't horrible on course. It definitely forces you to keep two hands on the wheel though . I wouldn't delete power steering if you are going to be autocrossing on a really tight/technical course like CDC. It does help.

On the other hand, if you don't have it I wouldn't go out and get it either (unless you simply don't have the arm strength). You can learn a lot by not having power steering. It doesn't allow you to make ridiculous re-corrections while driving. It forces you to drive a smoother, more controlled line.

I basically removed all of the PS components, and capped the steering rack.

My only auto x experience is with CDC, and that was like 5 years ago. I don't know if they changed their auto x locations, but back then their courses were short and tight.

I am running 235/40/17 up front, on a 13in steering wheel, and it sucks during low speed. I am considerong putting the PS back on, but mostly because I DD the FC. Now that I have the car back, I will be doing CDC autoxes again, we shall see how bad it is

capped the lines? you need to at least loop them so the fluid can go from side to side.

it would be even better if you took the rack apart and took all the seals out and greased it up.

I think I need to do some work to the car to be competitive. The tires really effed my index without really adding any speed. (insert additional racer excuses here). When I learn to drive better and am competitive in it, I will like it better. On the plus side, I let an organizer take the car out for three runs and he did no better then I.

Posted on the thread.

And yes I should be at the CDC event, trying to get Duc out there too since it is on a Sunday. Are you coming? They have a $10 discount on a second entry, very tempting.

Is this for steering/front knuckles modifying for increased steering angle? Drifting?
