Well boys. I have found out that I have a S5 Engine from the marking on the engine side of the flywheel its got the 370 stamped on it. And it also has the "later" front casting. And I know that cant mix and match the rotating weights all to much. Maybe thats why my car was such a beast ha ha. So I think I'm gonna go from what I've got and rebuild from there.
Matt,
The parts list is not hard. Take your engine apart and find out the condition of everything, then download one of these many free FSM on this site and read through the Engine Installation section. It doesn't have a parts list but it does tell you everything you need to install. Your main concern is you order:
-6 Factory MZ 2pc apex seals
-Engine O-Ring set from Mazdatrix(has everything you need seal wise)
-Front E-shaft main seal
-Rear E-shaft main seal
-UIM gasket
-LIM gasket
-Waterpump gasket(internal WP gasket if you take apart the WP too)
-Front cover gasket
-oil pan gasket
-oil pick up tube gasket
-Engine to mani exhuast gasket($$)(check condition, if no cracking of delaminating re-use)
-Mani to turbo gasket($$)
-DP gasket($$)
-Emission gaskets(if you want to retain BUT would advise removing and just orderiing a block off kit which usually includes gaskets)
-Turbo oil line gaskets(or RTV)
- Turbo coolant gaskts(or RTV)
-93-95 corner seal springs
-Rotor oil rings, small and large
-pilot bearing
-pilot bearing seal
Then all your oils, filters, special tools, cleaning materials for parts, ect.
Not hard to find buddy, just do your research.
Let me know what you find once your tear it apart. Hope this helps

Nope nothing yet. Havnet even got the engine apart. Kinda stuck on the flywheel nut which I'll get off soon. But havent been making enough money, so I am probably gettin a different job, something full time. So when it comes time for parts I'll actually have the money. But once I get it apart I'll let you know. I'm really starting to miss the car. It was fun taking on those few people that think the 7 isnt up to the challange. But I guess once I get it back out and broken in it will be more of a suprize. Damn the stock restrictive parts...upgrades are on the way. It will be ressurected.

My rebuild goes no where till today. Got an engine stand which may simplify things. Have the flywheel off now and front cover. Also leaked the remaining oil and antifreeze out of the block on to the floor.... And damn was the oil nasty. Blow by isnt good. Smelled like fuel.... Tired seals though I'm guessing. Well should have it apart by tomorrow night. And I'll start checking some of the specs. See if I need anything else, hopefully nothing that will kill me in price ha ha like housings.
Sounds cool. Gonna get any pics of it for us sometime?

Dont have a camera to take pictres. Well I do but they wont turn out well. Oh well I'll still take some pics. Nice car though. Damn clean and straight body. I like it its pretty much like mine but newer and different colors. Oh yea and if you ever turbo swap it, its gonna be a good candidate for it. Mainly cause its like one of the lightest FC bodies like mine. I like having the lighter car. But you might just wanna leave it NA. ha ha too much trouble.

Yea I dont blame you on not turbo charging it. Its a pain and too much money. And in that instence...I got the engine apart now, and the rear rotor and housing looked imaculate but then I saw a little piece of the apex seal stuck in the edge of the rotor and two places on the awesome looking housing gouged out. So i was better off just getting a reman cause now its gonna cost more than a reman to rebuild. But whatever. I guess I could always use the experience. I'm still gonna mostlikly get a different job anyways so I can afford this project. I cant believe that everything inside was beautiful all up unitll I saw that little piece of the apex seal. Just a very little piece. Now I have to find a S5 rotor within the same weight as mine and I suppose I should just get new housings. Cause I dont want just one used one. Oh well, nothing seems to go my way anyways. Whatever though I'll have to finish the damn thing. I'll let you guys know what else is goin on later. I guess I could go back to NA. Make a high compression PP or high compression 3 Rotor. YA....thats not gonna happen. Alright I'll talk to you guys later.
Matt,
Sorry to hear that man BUT there is light at the end of the tunnel. You can use housings from NA's too. The 89-94 housings are the best due to the stonger material used in the plating. If you use an NA housing all you need to do is grind out the pitch diffusser in the exhaust port and grind out the plugged coolant passage for the turbo coolant lines. Very easy to do. JUST MAKE SURE you don't mix 86-88 with 89-94 due to the difference in spark plug hieght locations. You can mix turbo housings with NA, doesn't matter just make sure years match.
Sooo..rip apart one of the many NA's you have laying around, inspect and move on from there.
A reman would be nice but from what it sounds like you are tight on money as is so NA housings are your saving grace. Good news right?
Check out Rotary Ressurections website for more info on the matter.
This is the begining of the fun/frustration that goes along side the MODIFIED rotary adventure. The one friend you will need by your side in order to be successful is MONEY. It blows but automotive hobbies are pricey but worth it when finished.
Things are good here at Earth's *******. Almost out of here, two weeks left. Attacks are steady but the insurgents can't aim a mortar worth **** so that is good news.
How is everybody else? Ransom, I talked to a friend at malmstrom and he knows of three places that have chassis dynos in GF. We have one at the base too, so if all others fall through I might be able to negioate a couple free hours on that one. All they require is a case of beer.
Nice car bd180, congrats on the purchase.

Well I got the first gen all fixerd up. Got that carb rebuilt and ran into some trouble, nothing I couldnt fix.
(Forgot to set the float leve.) Idles good now and I can run it to 7k! Its really livened up now.
So thats one thing going my way. But need to take car of it cause its my daily. Got to get the rest of the front end on it and fix the dent primer with some white primer and the door panels. Then should look good as nw. But that set aside for the moment I'll have to find some housings and a rotor pretty close in weight. Any chance your cousin has one laying around??? Anyways had to let you all know whats goin on. I'm not in a big hurry any more to fix the Turbo 7 cause I know it will get done but only with time patience and money. Other than that its gonna just sit and collect dust. Talk to you guys later.

Its not bad. If I drive nicely which I had to with the carb. I got around 15-20 mpg. And I would only have to fill up every 2 weeks when I get paid. But I have to premix which usually keeps me from driving too. Other than that its nice need suspension, an lsd, and better exhaust ha ha. But I'm not worred about that quite yet. I have 2 projects but one has priority. And you know which one does. But with the carb done it runs pretty smooth and is nice to drive now. And gets me where I need to go.
Pretty good! I don't think seth ahs any turbo rotors laying around, only NA. How bad is the damage to the rotor? If it is very small and hasn't altered the apex seal groove then you may be okay if you sand it down.

I dont know it might have pinched it a little but im not sure. I'll give it a look over tomorrow. Check it with an apex seal and see if it fits like it should. I'll also try to get some pics of it.

I dont know what I'm gonna do yet. Its just gonna sit untill I figure something out to do with it. These cars are pretty good at sitting and/or being broken. I'll see what Ransom has for a housing and if its about as good as mine, Cause we took a look at one housing and it has some flaking on the edge. I want to build somthing I can rely on more. I'll just have to wait and find out though.
Well Matt I won't even give you the rear housing its done for. I will check the front housing and see how that one is. Also I found out why my car stopped making boost. It's because my Turbo is done. So I think its going to take me a little longer to get this damn thing going again.

Yea I remember that rear housing, didnt look too good. I dont think the rotor us useable the sideseal broke when i was tryin to get it out and there is a little piece pinched in there that wont come out. So I dont know what to really do now. Different plan then.
hey ppl... I was just thinkin about that damn SE of mine. i need to move it soon, i have the front converted to the 5 lug with the GXL brakes, but my Question is, is there any way i can put the SE stock brakes on the rear so that i could Use the E-Brake to have at lest some stoping power, so i can tow it somewhere, cuz i have a hole rear end for it but its at Matts. an could i use the SE brake lines with My GXL brakes...
Where did you send it man? Never the less that blows. This 62-1 I bought awhile ago has a very small amount of damage on the exhst turbine, so I hope it doesn't poop on me in the future. It is minimal but still, it is damaged.
What happened to your 8. I always saw your ride at the base gym. How is the renesis turbocharged? You sponsored?
