Alright well I will have mine out and be checking through the exhaust ports to see if there is any apex seal damage. But like you said I wont really know untill I get it apart. So by the time you get back I will have that hoist ready for you. But yea talk to everyone later.
O-Hisashiburi Desu Ne?
Hey all, I've been gone for a pretty long time, but I'm back now. Haven't been up to much with the FB, too much time and $ sucked away by college. Got a new suspension set in anticipation of autocross season, so at least the Rex will have some new feet to run around on. I'm still looking for the perfect '91 FC, but I have to fix my girl's wheels before I can even look seriously. Anybody else going to run their rides in Montana AC this year?
hey there all you fellow mt sevens!! i couldn't get myself to read through all 24 pages of this thread, but i made the first 4 before i discovered that they were about three-ish years old! anyway, i'm a noob
to the rx scene, just got ahold of an 88 se 5 spd. but, my rear rotor is TOASTED!! ZERO comression, and crappy milage to boot. there's only 74445 mi on it, so i'd like to keep the rotory in it, but where do i go to get either a new or re-man motor? and what are you peoples thoughts of the V-8 convert?

Or you can find or I can send you a link to order a reman off the internet. V8 convert is going to cost you ballpark around $10,000 to get it done right if you are not doing all the work yourself. If you are seriouse about the new motor let me know and I can get you in contact with Dale at crash repair.
And yes this thread is just kind of become a BS thread for the montana folks. No need to read the ramblings of the pages past.
kool!! what's that link? and is there one for the v8 swap? i'm a fabricator-type, and will be doing all the work myself (should i choose to go with the swap). next, how many seven owners are in the helena area that are on here? i'd like to get a face to face to learn every little detail that i can about these sweet cars.
thanks!!!!
oh yeah, has anyone made a chart or listing of what motors/models are swappable? or anything of the sorts? where do i find that kind of info?
thanks!!!!

http://www.mazdarotaryengines.com/ is one place you can get them. Like I said you can get one from crash repair here in Great Falls also.
Pretty much any rotary can go into your car you just want to try and keep them series specific as in S4 to s4 Turbo or S5 to S5 Turbo. If you want to learn anything of these cars it all pretty much on the Forums just search for topics and what not. I am going to try and get a meet and cruise together and maybe cruise to my cabin in wolf creek for a bbq or something when it gets a little nicer.
Welcome stopie
Jay
By the way

So I finally got my engine out....... And pulled the turbo and manifold. Took a peak inside of the exhaust port and the rear housing seems fine from what I can see.
No apex look like they broke or anything still all intact from what i can see. Felt inside and the housing is smooth still. Front is fine too. So it seems as if mine may be rebuildable. But I really wont know untill its apart. But from what I can see it is. I also have a feeling that it may be a Series 5 engine. Cause at one time when before I bought the turbo parts car the engine was replaced. And on the recept that I have it says wrong engine and the only thing I can think of is that they put in a S5 engine and just replaced the front cover for the mechanical oil metering and left the rest alone. But I dont know for sure.
Thats why I'm waiting untill I get it apart. Look for numbers or weigh the rotors. But It's the beginning of a project and a money pit ha ha.
Just thought I'd let you guys know whats goin on. Alright well I'm gonna probably go and strip the engine down some more. Or go play some video games.
ha ha Talk to everyone later. Also looks like Sean and I are going to be rebuilding the same time. Well as long as I have the money saved up. And like always everyone else that reads this thread, keep us updated on what you are doing with the vehicles.
Later everyone.

I dont really know I'm thinking around 1k. Which I cant say is extreme for rebuilds. Im just satisfied that the engine from what I can see isnt toast. And whats goin on with my friend anthony havent heard from you. Whats been goin on once you get a chance to check the thread.

Yea I could bridge it. But then I would have to go standalone. Which woud be cool. But it wouldnt work out too well for tuning and expense. I might just run a mild street port or somthing that wont kill on fuel or engine life too bad. I would like to have it done for the car show which wont happen (May 10th). But I dont think anyone else would want to enter their cars anyways for a rotary section. Maybe next year... Yea go with the black paint. And as for wheels if you can later do that too. You should get a better exhaust and boost controller IMO. But for me, I think Im just gonna find some stickier tires for the wheels I have. But not till I get it back together and running. Well Im gonna go and find something to do on my car ha ha. Thats just sitting in the garage. Oh well, maybe when you get a chance to come back here you can get a ride in the beast again. Talk to you later.
Hey all,
Halfway through this shithole deployment.
NO bridgeports unless you want your money pit to become quite large. All the additional support needed to get one to run "nice" on the street would be $$.
Matt, you probably crack the edge of a seal near the corner piece. I did this with one engine and it looked all good through the exhuast ports but you can only see so much. Good to hear though that you felt no damage on the housings.
Matt you should just do your build now man. I don't want you waiting around for me. No offense but I am really starting to lose my passion for 7's. NOT because of my tirals and tribulations with the car but because I have other priorities that I need to get a roll on AND the fact that I have little time anymore to be dealing with this hobby. Work, school, military and a 2 year old daughter keep you busy. Plus I just want to spend more time with my little girl then in the garage when I have free time.
When I return, it may not be until mid june when the rebuild will actually be finished. I don't have the good old nights like when I was single when I could spend 15 hours wrenching straight(I miss that ****)
I am gonna finish my car when I get back(after vacation) but after a tune and dyno I will slow my roll until I have free time.
Just let me know what you wanna do Matt.

Well If I can get a good solid list of what parts I would need and the best place to get them. I can get going on it. Cause I got it out and can start on it at any time. Im also probably not gonna do anything with the ports besides maybe polish them. But other than that I want to get stuff done right when I do it this time. So if you can get me a list of what I would mainly need that would be great. Cause I know the complete gasket and seal set from mazdatrix or racing beat isnt all needed. But if thats the best way, I'll go that route. That way I have every new oem seal and gasket. So in all I might just do that. Depending on what you have for a parts list.
