You'll go through front tires a lot faster with knuckles. When the ackerman is changed to zero, which is a benefit of modded knuckles, you will get a ton of wheel scrub daily driving.

about ackermen. I am running modified knuckles with supernow tierods, stock tierod ends, secret eliment rack spacer on the pass. side and extended ball joints(30mm).
at full lock I have a good amount of ackermen. like a ton of ackermen. Anyone know why or how to fix it?
I am also running pbm coilovers. I hate the caster adjusting top mounts. but right now they are all the way cambered/castered in.
I dont even get full lock both ways. My wheels hits the control arm and the frame before I run out of rack travel. but the inside wheel seems to move faster/further then the outside. in both direction.
I know my rack is centered.
only thing I can think is the rack spacer is messing it up. would I need to reomove it and just get adjustable tierod ends?
any input?

Get SuperNow tie rod ends, keep the knuckles, ditch the spacers, and throw the stock tie rods back on.

Then check it.

Had 2 rack spacers on. had more ackermen. so I took one off. Supernow used to make them if they dont anymore, for sure. I have had them for a long time. Gotta order the tierod ends. idk though. from what ive been told you only are supposed to used the one spacer on the pass side. maybe i was told wrong. maybe its just an s13 and corolla thing.

I saw a video of when buckey got his car tuned and he had his wheels turned. It looked like he had the same amount of ackermen that I do. but couldnt really see too well.

also I dont think I will put on stock tie rods if I have better tie rods now.

I found this pic in rotaspinna69s thread:

it is kind of like this, but not as bad. (Yes I know its an s13.)

It is probably half as bad(or less) then that on the s13. still more then enough to make me hate it.

I guess its gotta be the tierod ends. from searching around it seems like then only think it could be.

You only put a spacer on ONE side on a FC, correct?

If so, THAT is your problem. Spacers should be on BOTH sides.

yeah only one spacer will totally screw up the geometry. I have a bunch of 240 friends and I've never heard of them running only 1 rack spacer.

^it's common for one side to have a rack spacer. you just have to recenter the rack which most people don't want to do.

1 spacer is only a 13/corolla thing.

you need the tie rod endlinks to even adjust the alignment straight for one. how yours is straight with stock tierods, and without a spacer on one side is the only way. when you do the other spacer it should be normal with adjustable endlinks.

you're thinking too much.

I had both in and it seemed like the ackermen was worse. My tierods are longer then the stock stuff thats how I am able to adjust it straight with just one(or both) spacer. I recentered the rack once I put just the one on. I had the rack centered before too.

if theyre longer than oem dont run spacers at all, and get aftermarket tie rod ends.

if they are stock. then use 2 spacers.

you're worrying about ackerman. your spindles are what is causing it. look at that whackspeed LS13 you posted a pic of.... **** is garbage.

I actually know a guy who bought modded knuckles for his s13 and the ackerman is worse than OEM. Thats why you need to get knuckles from trusted quality sources like Hotline. I think Buckey's were made by Get Nutz Labs and are good too.

I agree with Buckey. I think you can mess with spacers and tie rod ends all day and your ackerman wont change a bit. It's all about where the fabricator placed the tie rod pickup. If memory serves then closer to the brake rotor the closer ackerman is to 0? Anyone know for sure. There's a thread on here somewhere.

not trying to knock Get Nuts Labs, but i would recommend just skipping the middle man and save yourself time by hitting up Justin at Hotline for his.

i'm on my 2nd set of spindles and there are alot of things i dont like about my current ones. but that's a whole 'nother story.

mine are awesome. backwards entry proven. but not 100% perfect.

yes I know how to make knuckles. its not rocket science. I placed the pickup as close to the rotor as I could. I think I just need to get tie rod ends. I put both spacers on today and have the same ackermen. im over it. Ill order new ends. and then mess with it all.

That's why your ackerman is like that.

Also, align the car with string or something. If your running a lot of toe out, even if it look's fine to the eye, your ackerman is going to look extreme, and is going to be exaggerated when at full lock.

So I just put on my tie rod ends from hotline, added some 10mm spacers and set my camber to -3.5 degrees. I now have this much angle.

So i was told that i need to get rack spacers to add even more. Where do I get those? The only site I found was this, http://unfriendlygarage.com/products-page/fc-rx7/

And 5mm doesn't seem like it would do much. Any ideas??? I eventually plan on getting modded knuckles as well. I just don't have tons of power and figure I need to get used to this much angle before I go all crazy with it.

Is that what they listed as "tie rod angle spacers" for $10? Sorry, I'm mechanically retarded.

those won't work... FC's dont have enough thread for just the spacers. you need the thread on kind spacers.. i can get you a set if you need.. but i'm wondering what tie rods ends you got that didn't have rack spacers??
