How to value your FD
Good point, I'd hold on to the money for at least a year or 2 so that hopefully things like lumber prices can stabilize. It's annoying because I could really use some new siding to replace the ugly original stuff on the house from decades ago. That said, no immediate rush. Other house work I do myself so the money stretches a lot further.

I don't know if you've noticed, but rates have started rising in the past week by quite a bit. I monitor rates every day. 10-Year Treasury rates have gone up from about 1.1-1.2% for months to 1.36% now. Myself and friends have been saying for some time that rates had to rise, given current policies and our debt. We didn't know why they hadn't. Now the 10-Year has jumped 20% in a week. 10-Year Treasury rates used to average 6%. They went down at the end of the Bush administration and were in the 3's. Then, in 2011 Obama got them lowered to 1%. They really have been there ever since. During Obama's second term there was talk about "quantitative easing" or gradually raising rates to something like where they should be so as not to over stimulate the economy. That was never done. We'll see where things go from here, but I'm liking your doomsday stuff more than before.

Having some hard assets including the FD is a good idea if your debt to income/savings ratio is solid. I'm not all doom and gloom I just listened in my econ classes so this is really more of an opportunity than anything else but this stuff can't continue as is so I'd prepare as best as you can.
As Rich said the FD is truly priceless as there isn't another car I've enjoyed driving and being around more and that's what it's all about.

I hate to say it guys... but I think I'm going to be listing mine soon at this rate. I mean seriously, mine is a running driving example with a ton of the must have mods and over $3k in new interior parts from Ray. This market is just crazy right now, but we are talking some nice house reno money at this point. #Conflicted.
So until mid range cars prices go up further (e.g. there have been several cars on BaT for $26-$35k) then we have compression at the lower end between ok drivers and absolute crap that needs restoration. I think this is just supply and demand. You can't find a roller for cheap. But you can still find an "ok" car in the 20's and 30's.
I have participated in the stripping down of maybe five FD. I was always surprised that no matter how many parts I took off, there still remained considerable items of value still remaining. Did not the description of the car say the motor was recently rebuilt? Assuming that is true, then you are looking at about $10,000 to recover from the rest of the car.
Conversely if you try to replace all the missing pieces (at used part fair market) the costs add up extremely fast.

YEP, heat is the enemy. Typically a nice garage is shaded by trees etc.. so they are rarely heat traps. The stock vacuum hoses will typically be hard as a rock on a car with lots of heat cycles or over 75k miles that's stored outside etc.... A lifetime in a nice garage makes A HUGE difference in the condition of any old car.
We'll. The beautiful banzai 20b just went for 55k +fees. https://live.proxibid.com/BidderWeb/...-catalog-item|
The auto went for 26k +fees.
Both of these were great deals.

That Banzai 20b was a steal, as far I as can tell. I'm sure the guy spent $50,000 on the build or more. You don't have the detail and back and forth that you have on BaT, but Banzai does such great work and the pieces that went into this are top notch. I remember this car from a few years back.
Yeah, it sure is a good one. Definitely could not replicate it for that much. Its not a collector car, but I still feel like it would have gone for more money if sold elsewhere. Not sure if BAT would have taken it, and eBay is a crap shoot, so who knows.
