Although my friend ,who recently opened a hobby shop ,told me today that the highschoolers are buying out his R34 snap together models 10:1 vs his FD models.
I'm assuming that will only touch cars 10 years old or newer. It really should have zero effect on older cars. However, the world post covid is a weird place with a lot of firsts.
Yes, it appears the tariffs don't affect 25 year old + imports. Btw, seems people in this thread might not be taking into account that the value of the U.S. Dollar has been devalued significantly since 2020... Take that for what it's worth when setting your asking price for an RX-7... Don't let them fool you!
Here's my take, don't shoot the messenger. Also, it's just my personal opinion and I'm sure many may disagree. There has been quite a bit of buzz out there (in the japanese websites that leak info) about a new rx-7 coming to market within the next few years. Even though there is no official announcement yet, even Mazda has been teasing their iconic SP and talking about a potential future rotary. If and when the new Rx-whatever is announced, the third gen prices will drop. As much as I love the FD, I would never pay 50k for one if I could buy a brand new rotary sports car for 10, 20, or even 30k more. It just doesn't make sense to ME. I'd much rather grab the brand new car that will last many years or decades before needing any major work. Also, being able to go to the dealership and get parts is a huge plus. It may never happen but with the Feds talking about dropping emissions standards recently, it seems closer than ever. Trumps tariffs do put a damper on things though, let's hope that blows over with the cars as that could potentially hurt the roll out. I don't think Mazda would be building Rx-7's in the USA and I don't think they will sell nearly enough if people have to pay and extra 25% for them.

I think you have that backwards. Look at the prices of the 90's NSX's, Supra's, and Skylines when their respective new model (current gens) came out. If I'm not mistaken they all went up. I think FD pricing would get a bit of a bump if a new model rx vision or rx9 or whatever was introduced. Unfortunately I don't see mazda doing anything further with the rotary other than a range extender for a hybrid. If the rumored sports car colab with Toyota does actually happen, it will be a piston engine or hybrid or whatever nonsense is the currect eco/ cafe friendly fad.

Really nice car, super clean. However, listed 2 years ago, still not selling. I'm guessing the seller is reluctant to drop the price to the right market value...
