I've seen some cars for sale from Top Rank and RHDSpecialities going north of $38k for relatively decent RHD examples now.

People love modified cars here. Definitely some crazy machines, but like anywhere you see the best on YouTube and insta. Every single FD I have seen has been repainted, that goes for just about anything decent because paint is mostly labor. Most of the FDs have single kits. And people here seem to consider FDs Supercars, so that's pretty cool

Looks like it's gone. I still have the page but when I go back to the search I don't see it either. Here's some of the text but I guess it's moot....

Seller Comments (VIN: JM1FD333XR0302043)94 Rx7 for sale, 98,283 miles total. Engine professionally rebuilt recently with ~1,500 miles on it, runs like new. Bodywork and paint is fair, with a few small dings and scratches. Interior in good shape except for cut in drivers seat leather.

291 kilometers, Spirit R Type A. For sale in Hong Kong, asking 1,680,000HKD, ~$215,000 USD. Completely immaculate, sounds like it's never even been registered

https://www.contempoconcept.com/prod...rit-r-type-a-6

1) It's a shitload of money, but likely the nicest Spirit R in the world
2) Hong Kong car prices are usually quite a bit above the rest of the world, keep that in mind
3) Check out the rest of the cars for sale

wow... Spirit R or not, I never thought I'd see the day when an FD would be twice as much as a Ferrari F430.

HK$758,000.00 which is roughly $97500 USD.

That Contempo Concept has a Youtube channel where they do hyper-detailing of cars. Like replace anything slightly worn with new OEM. It's OEM part ****

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC90...tXdC1Fe9klf-lQ

If that's a car they've detailed/been through, it's most likely the best example on Earth.

They mounted the switch for the Spirit R optional foglights in the middle position, unless that's for the machine guns.

Seems to have factory correct miss-matched front bumper colour.

Is the suspension set high on purpose, and is there something odd about the way the muffler hangs?

Not to pick nits.

Is there anything from the options catalogue they missed? Even has the rare RX7 Hatch glass banner, it seems.

And to top it off the Spirit R just sold too. Just yesterday it was at the very top of their listed cars which points to being their latest addition.

https://www.contempoconcept.com/car-sold

So not only was it twice as much as the F430 but also inventory wise, it moved faster. Crazyness...

I'm speechless at this point.... https://www.ebay.com/itm/12484216173...p2047675.l2557. That is a roller.... a roller with a rebuilt title, primer everywhere, no seats, etc. and it sold for over 16k..... I hate to say it guys... but I think I'm going to be listing mine soon at this rate. I mean seriously, mine is a running driving example with a ton of the must have mods and over $3k in new interior parts from Ray. This market is just crazy right now, but we are talking some nice house reno money at this point. #Conflicted.

yep the market for everything is stupidly inflated right now. That’s why I sold my FD and my house.

Something has to give soon, stocks, debt, houses, gold, cars and other frivolous toys are all at a peak. We are on the cliff edge IMO.

If you ask me, you couldn't have planned/manipulated a more effective way to keep a boot on the throat of the masses than the past two years. Massive debt and increased living costs (housing etc) will force people to work until they are almost dead. If i wasn't so sure that governments are just as dumb as the rest of us; I would think this was all arranged.....

I tend to agree. I thought for SURE we were at the top about a year ago but here we are. I suppose this market is a bit unique as we haven't had something like a massive pandemic of this scale for quite a while... but regardless, it has to give eventually. It's just hard to justify keeping a "toy" that essentially sits in the garage 99% of the time when it could be used to fund much more realistic goals. On the flip side, I've got 6 years of blood, sweat, tears, and a ton of $$$ invest in this car and it was always my dream. A dream I will certainly never purchase again given the high cost of entry now. If I do end up getting rid of it, what a crazy ride though the whole experience has been. Hmm..

I beleive the rx7 is the better sports car. It is definetly more enjoyable to drive and it is a pure sports car.

Yup. You can always make more money. As the years go by, you'll be hard pressed to find another clean FD for a 'reasonable' price.

I don't believe this is some kind of temporary spike...... the values will continue to rise. The longer you hold your FD before selling, the better off you'll be.

My reason for keeping mine anyway

I don't know if you've noticed, but rates have started rising in the past week by quite a bit. I monitor rates every day. 10-Year Treasury rates have gone up from about 1.1-1.2% for months to 1.36% now. Myself and friends have been saying for some time that rates had to rise, given current policies and our debt. We didn't know why they hadn't. Now the 10-Year has jumped 20% in a week. 10-Year Treasury rates used to average 6%. They went down at the end of the Bush administration and were in the 3's. Then, in 2011 Obama got them lowered to 1%. They really have been there ever since. During Obama's second term there was talk about "quantitative easing" or gradually raising rates to something like where they should be so as not to over stimulate the economy. That was never done. We'll see where things go from here, but I'm liking your doomsday stuff more than before.

I'd go out on a limb to say that reno money would likely not be as much as we think, at least depending on the area you're in. Contractors are asking a ton of money and finding good work is tough as well right now.

A good reno would be to put doubledoors into the living room from outside, so that you could park your FD inside out of the rain.
