Yes, what happened? Did everyone who wanted one buy last year (2019) ?

The market has been pretty quiet on these lately. Honda S2000's seem to be all the rage now.

Yea supply seems to have dropped off substantially. It does appear a lot of folks "offloaded" over the last 18 months. Things may pick up again in the spring.. we'll see.

In the mean time how about a 1958 250GT Ferrari instead? Current bid is $10K:

Ok well, sort of Ferrari...

Holy crap that thing sold for $35K and it is cut in 4 pieces!

I doubt anyone would even give $100 for a cut up FD shell in any condition...

that thing would be a HUGE project, you can always slip a corvette under it or something, but where are you going to get the windshield?

Anyone have thoughts on the 92 on Bring a Trailer?
6k miles and RHD. Could bring a huge amount but it seems like the JDM cars don’t have as much appeal.

The only RHD cars that will ever be worth anything in comparison to the LHD models are the special Series 6 & 7 cars.

The car I sold on BaT late 2019 is still for sale at the dealer who bought it. Asking $43k for a 93 MB/tan Touring 5spd with 56k miles on it lol. Maybe in a couple years.

Unrelated but it's replacement is finally on the way..

Huge project is an understatement but I am curious to know what the new owner's plans are.

I had some Japanese colleagues visit me at work a couple years ago who are at least somewhat into cars. I told them I had a '95 Rx-7. They had a blank look on their face. It was like telling someone here you had a '95 Firebird or something. RHD Rx-7's, at least the higher volume model years, are just used plain old used cars in that market. Meanwhile those colleagues find F-150's (complete dime a dozen vehicle in the US) cool. That's certainly anecdotal but it illustrates that you get used to certain things and don't find so much value in them.

Telling a random person here that you own a FD would get the same response :v Can't expect a casual to care about some 30 year old niche car.

true enough, but they knew what my Challenger was and thought it was a cool car. It was just an R/T with the 5.7, nothing special.

Yea I'm watching that low mileage RHD. It seems they are picking up steam here in the states as low mileage LHD are becoming increasingly scarce. I'm guessing 15% less than what a LHD will bring. Just never know with auctions, going to be fun to watch.

Excellent. If the Japanese don't think a stock FD is anything special, I might be able to get a Spirit R or Bathurst...

BTW good to see you John!

Must've been someone who was looking for rhd. JDM fanboys with money, what's the world come to? Wonder what it would've brought if LHD.

Admittedly I never was all that up on the different packages available in Japan, but I've never heard of this one: 1992 JDM Type-X (BB/red)

https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1992-mazda-rx-7-36/

I'll be curious to see where this one ends up!

I think the Type-X was basically the US Touring. Leather, cruise, sunroof, Bose hose.

Also strange the car has the 96+ whale tail spoiler. Someone added that in Japan. Rest of the car looks bone stock.
