i'm almost glad that i'm not gettin an rx7 anymore,
this was the only thing holding me back and making me regret the fact that i can't afford to insure myself on it...

I just bought a second gen and sold my first gen. And I wanna put a kit on it...something original. And now that I've read all these damn posts (for the past hour or so) I'm gonna wait till Dave pulls this through. I think I speak for damn near everyone when I say we're all behind you man.

Well, I just got back from talking with a maker of my favorite wide body kit in the world, and I think the potential is there if we try hard enough. We will have to work as a team for this to really work. When I ask things, I need nothing but pure honesty. If I ask for someone to do something, and you say yes, then you need to fullfill the commitment or let me know as soon as you can that you can't do it. Here is some of the things I will need:

First off. I need people on here that can draw on the PC. I need people to come up with designs and drawings of what you think this kit should look like. I want a group of drawings that I can take into a maker and say "This is what we want" There is the first step to get this rolling on our own.

Second, I will need committed people to preorder when we get designs ready and a maker committed. Keep that in mind. The kit will have to remain under $2000 for most people to be able to get it.

Let the feedback recommence!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyone know any artists on a PC? I am sure that someone knows a computer geek like us that can draw to go with it

Photoshop

Hey Dave,
Maybe someone can photoshop an existing FC with existing aftermarket pieces that interest everyone. I have seen some real nice work done by folks on the forum and I'm sure some of them, have followed this thread....

Just my .02

or even better, somebody who knows how to use something like 3D studio MAX (3D modeling). You could make the whole car in 3D how you want it, even do the specific parts wanted (close-up on spoiler or something).

Check out www.blender3d.com.

Its a pretty good, free 3d modeling/animation/game-design/etc.... software applicaiton. Its pretty good. You can check out some of the things they've created in their gallery (there's a nicely rendered VW bug... *imagines shiny FD*)

I don't really know how to use it but I'm trying. (maybe somebody knows these things??)

VW Bug

Engine

Wow! Millenium Falcon.

Unhappy

I'm getting confused here. So what's the low down on this 'project'? I realize Dave is still headstrong about this and I'm most appreciative of that, but what about his friend who's the designer? Is he still down with this project or is he out? I'm confused....

Peace,
AJ ^_^

The low down is that my body kit guy is now saying that we have to wait until January to even start this project. IMHO that is too long after being told now months ago we were weeks away from starting. I am affraid that in January I will hear what I am hearing from him now. So... I am taking this idea to other body kit makers. I spoke with one and they are interested to a degree. But we need drawings of what we think as a collective group to submit to them to show that yes we want this and we want it so much that we have even drawn it out for them to build.

So this is a call out for people who have photoshop or other equal program experience to do up some designs that can be used on our kit. This is your chance to be heard and seen as a specific car enthusiast. This is a kit for FC's only! And can be made using the combined knowledge and thoughts of one group of people...the owners!

If we could get a serious Kit manufacturer involved (one that does lots of car molds) they might be willing to make several differnt nose molds for a variety of price ranges, mild to wild. Personally I would just like an aggressive nose with a large air inlet for the radiator, fog lamp locations, and a opening for the stock snorkle which can be used to funnel air to a home made cold air box (Ive been trying to figure out a mod that doesnt look cheap and cheesy by cutting a opening in a nose, no success yet)

Well, I can take care of the serious kit manufacturer portion. I just need more ammo to do business with them They want to see how serious we are. This is the first step in doing just that. From there we will have to get itno the money portion of it, but I am just taking it one step at a time.

Once I have designs, we will go from there. That way we all know as a collective groups where we are in the process and you won't have to really wait on one central person for updates like it was before. This has gone from my project to OUR project

Thumbs up

And it looks like some people are already starting to design a stock-looking FC.

I would personally prefer a 3D model (you can see everything....) to pictures, but anything is cool.

Then they can listen to the suggestions on what they want the kit to be like and... change it.

KIT

If CWEST is not going to make that kit, then I say we use those drawings and change it somewhat so as not to copy it outright. That is a clean kit that flows with the lines of the TII. I don't want anything outragious but anything more then garbage that is made here in the states. Half the stuff we have here looks like Pontiac designed. My 2 cents. We can use the CWEST drawings as a foundation to work off of and see where we go from there.

Later,
Dave

I want a nose for my car that doesnt look so rounded adn bland. The 2nd gen is very nice car with some very good qualities that dont offend anyones tastes. I would like a nose that is a little more boxy and a lot more aggresive looking and with a chin spoiler

Ill try to come up with some time and sketch something out.

I dont want much do I
