AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHRRRRRRRRRRRRR MUST GO TO BED BUT CAN'T!!!! HAHAHAHAHA huughhhh......

if all this works out... maybe 'the kit master' would be willing to do some interior for us FCers? make it feel more like a cockpit than just a plain old car cab.

heh... I just finished reading all of the posts in here. whoa... 3:30 am... must sleep but ...finish post....

I thought of a few things. Is this kit going to fit up to the 86-88 bumper? or 89-91? The reason I say this is because no one's really brought it up and I think that a really awesome kit would be ruined if it didn't match up with trim (or get around it while maintaining looks). 2 versions would be good, but I completely understand how it wouldn't work at first. I guess the there are two possibilities. try and find some way around the differences in trim between the two styles of FCs.... or try to figure out which one would sell better and go with that one (and maybe later make minor changes to make the trim match for the other model). Right now I have an 86 but soon I will be buying an 91ish. I like most of the examples that people have been giving, and most of the FC kit styles. I prefer pop ups (the half way round light ones are very nice) but that doesn't matter. I'm very confident that this kit will turn out durable, affordable (as quality kits go), very stylish, and most everything else positive. But I still feel that a trim discrepency would ruin the kit for the other 'trimmed' FC. I'd like to hear if you've thought about this.

I thought of that as well, but haven't had to opportunity to discuss it with the maker since he is still on these stupid damn autoshow trips! (who needs autoshows anyways? ) Anyway, I think the front bumer will fit both series' FC's dince I doubt that he would use the stock molding in his designs. I am sure that a guy with a creative mind such as his will work through that problem. I really doubt that he would design 2 seperate models according to year to match trim. That would involve 2 seperate molds for every kit he produces, including future ones When I know what he thinks, then you all will know

at any rate, it'd be best if you brought this up with him and showed him some pictures of the differences. just in case, because there are tons of people that don't know there are differences. Just to be safe.

Why yes there is You posted right during my conversation with Leonard lol

Here is some more news:

First off, he is back from his trip and finishing his previous commitments and then we are in business. He has the link to this forum and the thread so he will be reading all of the posts and checking out all of the pictures that have ben posted. He will also be signing up on the forum and posting a "hi" in the near future. Here are a few answers to some of the questions real quick. I am sure he can and will answer the others more indepth when he joins up here.

Hoods? if so, then maybe CF or FG?

He said that it is defiantely a possibility and more than likely will happen. The thing is though, is he wants to do the kits first, then make the hoods to match the kit. It doesn't make sense to have a hood that might be aggressive and the rest of the car stock. If they were made they would be FG I assume.

Fenders to go with the kit? Seperately?

Again, he wants to roll out the kit first, and then work on things like a set of fenders and hoods. I did forget to ask him about interior parts though, and I won't speculate on if he can do them or not because I really have no idea

Kit Material? Choices with it?

The kit will be fiberglass. He has some really cool stories about some of the other kits he has made, including a car with one of his front ends on it that hit a wall in his parking lot and it screwed up the wall but did little damage to the car or bumper. The typical thickness is roughly 1/8" thick and very uniform in its thickness throughout the kit. The kits he has made previously have not had any complaints on durability. He can also make them thicker or thinner at the customers request when ordering.

Pricing? Why is the wing $500??

Pretty simple. Most people order the wing before anything else. He has to make more "tools" for the wing (molds) since they are used so much more, therefore he has to charge more to offset the costs. Also the wings are typically 3 piece units. They require larger boxes for shipping that cost a significantly more amount. Like I said before though, these are going to be top notch kits and pieces. From what I have seen there will be no regrets.

On a side note, he did mention alot about doing custom lights because "noone wants to have the stock lights in comparison to those who want the aftermarket ones "

Also, now is a good time to decide if you are going to be one of the first to pre-order. I know we will all want to see drawings and so forth, but the tools have to be made before you can sell kits. Hell, count me in!!

Dunno about free. I am just the consultant on behalf of the RX-7 community I am hoping for a significant discount, or maybe some help with the race car as far as body kits for it go We'll see when we get to that bridge.

I just have one request of the new kit. Make sure that the front nose isnt too low to the ground or anything like that. My friend has a front end on his Eclipse that makes it impossible to go over any speed bumps or even to pull in to many driveways. As for myself, I would need a kit that still allows my car to be functional as a daily driver.

Talking

Amen to that. My friend's CRX is so low to the ground that if I jump into the car, it'll bottom out. Also it's really scary whenever he goes into residential neighborhoods with the crappy roads in North Seattle.

Peace,
AJ ^_^

PS: MasterRX I notice that on your bio thingy on the left it says you're located in Edmonds. Might I ask you post a pic of your car so I can keep a lookout for it? If anything just to wave hello to a fellow Rexor. ^_-

No he obviously won't be taking any orders at all until there are at least sketches done. After he is ready to start making the tools (molds for the pieces) then he will start taking the pre-orders. Personally I am dying to see how this turns out. It is killing me! I will be calling him this week to get any further info that I can. You guys will be the first to know any new news.

Thanks for the sticky Mykl

True, but imagine what a $4000 USD kit costs there I am sure that he would br interested in making some sort of deal with you on an order of 10 kits. That of course is something you would have to discuss with him. I will let him know that there is talk of it

Thanks man. We are really stoked about it too. That would be great for some pics and write-up of the install. If anyone ever does an install of something and has some digital pics and a write-up of how you did it, I am always happy to post it to the site. I have a few in there now that were done by someone else and then sent to me.

You should be OK. Worse case scenerio would be you might have to trim the bumper to fit around the FMIC, but I won't know for sure until we see some kits in the prototype stages.

I assume he has some ideas for what the kit will look like, doesn't he? When will we be able to see some sketches? When can we pre-order? Can we get several people together and order in bulk for a discount? I am definately interested in a hood that will still work with a stock intercooler on an 88 TII. Let us know

Kris

Yes, he and his designers have some ideas, but until he actually gets into the project, then there won't be any sketches. He will provide all of the info for the pre-ordering. If you buy a bulk order yourself, then yes I am sure he would do something for you, but this is not a group buy on the forum. More info as I know something!
