My buddy runs a fiberglass bodykit factory and he makes all bodykits that I sell. My main concentration was on 3rd Gen RX-7 but now I would like to make some stuff for the 2nd Gen people as well. Coming out with a new line of bodykit is very hard but converting an exsiting bodykit to other car model is much easier. It's done by a lot of manufacturers. The very good example will be knock off Veilside bodykits. It has been converted to many cars. My bodykit friend has done some of those too. If you are looking for a C West style, Abflug style, Mazdaspeed GTC style, Veilside Style bodykit for the 2nd Gen, it can be done, as long as there is enough demand for it. Widebody is harder but can be done as well. I hope I can work with David from FC3S.org. If you guys can give me a chance I will be able to help. You can also go to my website for reference on what kind of stuff I am selling. My body kit friend's factory is in LA. David, if you are willing to meet me at my friend's place, I can discuss the possibilities with you and also show you the quality of his work. I am in SF so you need to give me a date for me to drive down.

Wow! Now this is what I am talking about! I definately think we can work on something here Chuck. So basicly what yu are saying is that we can get any body kit that is out there now, and have it integrated to fit our cars? If so, then we are in business.

So there you have it people. Start looking at the other kits here, and make your final bid on what you want!

Chuck, I will email you so we can set up a time to meet. Where in LA, and do you have any particular days in mind?

Dave:

My bodykit friend is going to Japan next week so definitely we should all meet before he goes to Japan. He has wide selctions of bodykts and he has molds for all of those. Not just for 3rd gen bodykits but also for BMW, Honda, Toyota, etc. You can have a blitz front end or a Hamann front end for the 2nd gen if you want. I will talk to him to see what's the best time to meet him. I also need to have some stuff done here before I go down. Send me an email with your phone number or you can chat with me by AIM. My AIM is rotaryextreme. See you soon. =)

Chuck

Good news everyone.

I'll be getting some more hyperrev mags online soon. That means EVEN MORE BODYKITS ideas are on the way.

I'll try to add manufacturers, websites, & retailer text to those pictures to make it easy on everyone.

I forgot to tell you where we are going to meet in LA. It's going to be in El Monte right off junction of 605 and 10. About 2 hours driving from SD.

Looks like we will probably be meeting up on Saturday to talk more on the kits. I should have info for your guys on Sunday or maybe Saturday night.

It also looks like we may be doing some other products for the FC...like maybe some CF hoods? I am starting anothe thread that will be linked to this one as far as who is doing what...check it out

Oh yeah, and don't forget to go and send me an email with your car pics and histpory to get it entered in the Car of the Month contest at our site!

OK people, here is the latest:

I just spoke with Chuck on the phone for an hour or so. It seems like we are on the same sheet of music as far as what we want as an FC community. We talked about different bodykits and so forth, and have come up with an idea.

Since we really have no idea of who is REALLY committed to buying a full kit, how about we start off by making a front end first. We could offer a bumper, see how everyone likes the styling and so forth, sell that first batch and go from there. That way we show our commitment as enthusiasts and they show us the quality of the product. Sound reasonable?

Tell me your thoughts...

Sounds like a plan to me. Start off simple, get a feel for the maker of the product. That'll work.

Cool GT-C!

What's this you say? You can fit existing kits to different cars than those for which they were intended?

I'm going to weigh in and cast a vote for the Mazdaspeed GT-C Touring front bumper. See the photo I posted earlier if there's any confusion.

Why?

1) It looks cool.

2) It's aerodynamically functional. This is the front end that Mazda uses for JGTC competition (think Denso/Sard Supra, Calsonic Skyline, Mugen NSX GT etc). It's the big time.

3) It looks very cool.

4) It allows (or, rather, implies) use of the 99-spec third-gen driving lights, which we all know kick a$$.

5) It looks really frickin' cool.

Mis dos centavos.

well i don't have an rx7... and unfortunately it doesn't look like i'm gonna get one soon, so don't weigh anything on my suggestion

but if i got a kit i'd want it to be pretty agressive looking, i'd basicaly want it to completely change the front end of the car, i wouldn't want it to look stock at all, the only thing i'd want it to keep the same would be the light through lenses... i wouldn't want the grille to tbe the same, i wouldn't want the shape of the roundness of the nose to stay, i wouldn't want it to sweep under the car at all

actually althoguh it'd be a pretty tough change i'd like this bumper modified...

OK - that's an OK kit but I really don't think it would suit the RX7.

I like the cleaness of the kit though, very smooth, not overly excessive.

What I think we need is something clean and smooth with functional brake vents, a large front opening big enough to fit a decent sized FMIC and something that has provision for a nice set of modern driving lights. Thats my only real demands.
The front should go straight down from the front of the car or maybe a little bit back. Nothing too fancy (veilside style).

Don't make the **** end too big either - Bomex really screwed that up.

Maybe include an intake vent but try and keep the front symetrical.

I would do some design ideas for you but I don't have a PC at home and I can't do it at work.

of course that EXACT kit wouldn't work, the rx7 and the impreza are two completely different cars, i just meant that if there was some way to make a kit in that STYLE for the rx7, the smoothness mainly, however only the bumper, the rest of the kit on the impreza looks horrid, the rear bumper espescially (not actually a kit, a genuine production run of that edition of the impreza was made)

OK - well - turns out we have got a custom kit over here in Australia already:

Whatever prices are listed here then halve them and that is about what it will cost in $US.

I really like that front end from this page www.ausrotary.com The vents in the side look pretty wicked, but still not "swallow your children" like the ricer kits. nice work

Ok, Chuck and I are ready to proceed. I need someone in LA with a perfect bumper and TII hood that they can loan to the shop to get the mounting molds made. Then we will decide on the style that they should be. But the shop needs the molds of where the mounting points are first. I might be able to provide the bumber cover, so anyone got the TII hood?

Uhm, out of curiosity, are you going to be basing the kit off of an S4 or an S5? It does make a difference, doesn't it?

The moldings are different, but the bolt locations are the same for the hoods and the bumpers.

Something like this modified Mariah front nose that I changed is what I would like. I do like that knightSport front. It would have to A. be a direct replacement and B. have a Big main Air intake in it. If you do a hood I do think there should be 2 one for Turbo and one for N/A and have the N/A have something for the air intake area behind the head light.

I've been trying to line up people for the CF hood group buy. Kurgan said he would buy one after christmas, but it seems that everyone wants a (2nd gen) border style scoop. So you dont need a turbo II hood to take the mold, a non turbo would work too if we were not going to use the scoop (which i dont think we should). Why spend the money for a hood that looks just like stock, i know its lighter and everything, but you know what i mean.

And how about a copy of the RE Amemiya 2000 front end??? I was going to order one in the spring, but if we could get some interested people, we could all split one, and get copys made?

If not, i also vote for a modified GT-C front end
