Well, its been a while since i have worked on the car. The amount of body work needed on my front Sexy Style bumper is stupid (never buy from this company again!)

Still waiting on clutch, transmission, bell housing, transmission adapter and chromoly plate for sub-frame!

CLUTCH: I have no idea what is taking so long. I quit calling because he never has a real answer. (waiting for a tilton carbon carbon clutch from Aasco performance with a custom built flywheel with reverse cut ring gear to run starter in forward position)

TRANSMISSION: Apparently i am waiting on the custom input shaft to be made as the rest of the transmission is pretty much a normal Liberty Transmission setup. (waiting now for over 2-months after final design and deposit)

BELL HOUSING AND ADAPTER: This was supposed to be custom built bell housing by Browell which started out at a $2800 estimate for bell housing alone and iover 2 months ago. I just got my final quote 3-days ago of over $10K for bell housing and adapter. (Needless to say, i pulled out of that one real fast and think i found a better solution and will have a final answer in a week or two that will cost under $1000.)

CHROMOLY PLATE FOR SUBFRAME: Hopefully a couple weeks and i will get the first set of laser cut plates in to build the first production subframe with all changes made.

Talking with Motec right now to design the entire ecu system with traction control and KDR about there anti det setup. Hopefully order both before the end of the year.

I did get in a set of HID H3 lights for the low beams and 35 watt PIAA H3 bulbs for the high beams.

They are to be fitted in the RE sleek light conversion kit waiting to be installed.

I almost bought a set of HID lights for the high beams but was told that flashing HID lights would burn out the transformers (this is the main reason they are never installed in high beams on any oem aplications.)

I also ordered a new front engine cover, external crank trigger sensors and new rear housing.
Motec suggested that i get rid of the 20B front cover which has a gear driven pickup (distributor style) which can have un-wanted slop and replace it with the 3rd gen style with external crank sensor.
(if any one is interested in my fully polished front cover and crank sensor distributor the will be for sale!)
The reason for ordering a new rear housing, i am going to modify it to run external oil lines for remote mount oil filters. I had the aluminum bypass block but it seems way to restrictive.

I am in need of the ignition plate which mounts behind the pulley as mazda only sells it with the pulley! (if any one has one, please let me know)

Save your money. You want to burn more fuel while it's still in the engine, not less.

as far as using the FD front cover, the only thing that keep people from using them is the fact that they dont match the 20b oil pan right?

well, i have an fd front cover on the way. I guess i will find out the if it will work with my oil pan and decide to use it and make a new oil pan or if it is possible to redrill or modify my oil pan to make it fit the new cover..

All the other parts are in..... Will start working on it again in the next week or two..

I should have the trans and clutch real soon... Still looking for a place to machine me a transmission spacer between the bell housing and new Liberty 5-speed.

The front cover as many already know but i found out the hard way has a totally different shape were it fits to the oil pan so if you are interested in running a 3rd gen front cover on a 20b, be ready to make a custom oil pan.

I thought most people, including Pettit's conversions, used the 3rd gen. front cover.

Where in PA are you located? I'm actually flying to philly tomorrow to pick up a daily driver. Would be very interested to stop in for a half hour on my way back home to metro Detroit.

No they usually use the Fd's power steering and A/C bracket. These will bolt on the side the 20b front cover. You only have to drill out a small hole so the bracket slides on the 20b's factory studs.

Thankyou Evil for re-opening the thread. I will try and post some recent pics and info as soon as possible. Also try to keep the thread on the subject which is the complete build process of the car.

i am not sure but i am in the lower western part of PA. 5-minutes from the pittsburgh airport.

Yes, GFG 19x10 rear with toyo proxys is correct. I picked these for show but will probably end up mounting up a set of 17 or 18" wheels to drive it with softer compounds to pick from. I wanted 19" wheels for the look but couldn't find a softer compound which will probably be needed. Hopefully traction control can be utilized to prevent totally out of control spinning.

to the best of my knowledge, only drag racers are pushing 1000+HP.

It is not likely to hook up. Mostly for bragging rights and dyno trophies!

I might be incorrect, but I think BFG makes the DR in that size. Im not sure on the diameter (19) but the width should not be a problem as Ive seen them on a few of DLMs Vipers down here in FL.

Acosta is real close with their 20B RX-8 that was just on the cover of Turbo Magazine. 950rwhp IIRC.

Eh grain of salt, i've been in a caravan with that car on the way to rotorfest, didn't look like 1000hp to me, could have been running a safer tune though. Maybe its because Acosta doesn't like RxTuner that my opinion is a bit negative.

Well, I don't know a whole lot about Acosta.

The car was dynoed at Mother's Performance in Lodi, NJ. Anybody know that shop? Are they honest?
