Slave cylinder matching

I bought a Dorman slave cylinder from ebay that said it would work for the 80 but the thread pitch was not right.... I've seen lots of listings on and off ebay that are all over the place as of fitment. Any light shedding on the time line of what's for what? I thought 79 and 80 had the same pitch and in 81 and up it changed.

79-80 is M10x1.25 and 81-85 is M10x1.0

RockAuto has good prices.

MazdaTrix has some thread pitches.

I'm pretty sure the slave is not threaded. They have different lengths from the holes to the open end of the cylinder. From s4 and s5 vs fb sa

The rod isn't threaded, but the female portion where the soft line connects to is.

I recently ran into the same issue. I bought a slave cylinder and the threads for the clutch hose were wrong. I think since the slave cylinder is physically identical from 79-85, many sellers are under the impression that it will work for all model years.

so the one that was on the car has a courser thread and new one was a fine pitch. So the question is should I get a newer slave hose to match the fine pitch slave I got or just go with another slave with the course thread M10x1.25? And I'm assuming the other end of the hose/ line that attaches to the hard line would be the same or not?

Getting a new soft line won't be enough. The hard line is also course pitch. It's just as easy to get a new slave from rock auto.
