Hello everyone, I am hoping someone can help me identify what brand and style is used on my 1994 modified rx7fd. I bought the car back in 2013 or maybe 2014 from Pettit Racing in Florida. I had some body work and repainting done to the front end. The body shop wasn't able to figure out what brand of front bumper was installed. The problem I have is that the turn signals on the side of the fenders have been removed so the signals in the front bumper are the only ones for front signaling. The ones that were installed were so old that they just crumbled apart and unfortunately the body shop did not keep them for reference. I'll attach some pictures and I'm hoping someone can help me out with this problem. I've been waiting for a few years to get the car back and I don't want to risk a long roadtrip without the operating front turn signals.
There were dozens of random makers of front bumpers. That one looks rare. If the side-skirts are from the same make that may be a clue. Can you show a pic from the side.
The turn signal lens may have been borrowed from some other JDM make. I wonder if you can reverse search the pic to see if a match comes up.
Looking at the Re-A bumper, it looks like you can mount fogs and possible hook them up as turn signals. The 1993 S6 yellow figs might be some you could use.
I am convinced that you got it right. I looked at a bunch of pictures of the facer-2 bumper and it's definitely the same one I'm using. Now I have the problem of it being a discontinued item. I'm thinking I might need to have a good fabricator figure out a one off solution. I'm open to suggestions though.
These would work as a last resort to get some working turn signals. I didn't even consider that they would of just repurposed a turn signal housings and lenses from another vehicle. Honestly, I did assume they had the part manufacturered for them. Which doesn't make much sense now that I think about it. I've already reached out to them so I'm optimistic.
I have often been bemused where exotic car makers end up using tailights from lesser models. My guess it is expensive to get low-run bespoke lights made, but maybe it is also a DOT approval thing?
An early importer of GTR here was forced by the regulator to get LHD compatible lenses made for the GTRs he was bringing in. It would have cost him $50,000 to get initial molds, etc., made.
