Post Your First Post Post

This is a Post Your First Post Post, an opportunity to show how far you've come since you first discovered that RX-7club can solve all you problems. I was a little shocked to learn it's been 8 years for me, seems like just yesterday.

My first post was about the oscillator screech. When I posted it I couldn't drive my 84 GSL (which I mistakenly referred to as an "SLE") because it was screeching so bad. I also had no idea what an oscillator was and only the vaguest idea of how a rotor and apex seal worked - trochoid was not yet part of my vocabulary.

Anyway, it worked, the oscillator gurus on the forum diagnosed my problem and I got my first free lesson in the workings of an FB. I fixed the screech in five mintues and started driving the FB again (that was 250,000 miles and just a few more problems ago).

So thanks to whoever started this thing. Who was that, anyway?

Here's my first post, way back in 2002, when I was a newbie.

actually ray, i was far into rotaries by the time i joined the site. got into them in the mid 80s so by the time i joined in 02 i had already gained quite abit of knowledge about them on my own and by a friend that got me started in it. so i was more into helping others rather than asking questions.

Apparently this is my first post on the forum.

"Gates ... a close friend of the Bush family. He served as CIA director for Bush's father from 1991 until 1993."

Does that not **** anyone off? I wish it was filled with someone without any connection to the family. Who knows, he may be the most qualified man in the world for the job or he may be just another guy with friends in high places who hasn't the faintest idea as to what he's doing. Look at the man bush appointed to head FEMA. He was also a friend to the Bush family and a trusted advisor and look how that worked out. !KINKY FOR PREZ! lol.
First post in the FB section:
"my dad just happen to take it over 6500 for a little bit and then it wouldent shift to 3rd then every time we took off it made a grinding noise"

At least that's all your dad did to it. I had mine for a week and first time I let him drive it he toasted the motor. Separated the housings just below the exhaust port. At least I got to swap the stock 12a for a streetport 13b at a fraction of the cost.

click the search at the top of the page, then advanced search. search by user name and check the exact name box. under search options, go down to find posts from, in the drop down box click a year ago and the one next to it click and older. oldest i could find of mine was from 08.

This way is faster:

Enter your name, select search ascending and return posts.

You will need a better flowing fuel pump, better clutch, and some method of engine control. I went way overboard. If you want to know what I did, just write me, I'll let you know.

Great idea man, what a blast from my @ss!
I think I was surprisingly well behaved for a complete noob with
absolutely no experience at all with online forums. lol

Here's what brought me to this forum (turned out to be clogged jets, btw):

= 12A power loss @ full throttle

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have a '85 with 190,000 miles. Ran great when parked in fall but was flooded this spring.
Went through the unflooding steps and got her running again, but now when you floor it
she just dies. I can cruise on the freeway at 80, but it takes a long time to get up there.

If I give it too much gas it just dies out until I back off again.
Seems like its fine as long as the secondaries don't have to open?
All vacuum lines to the carb are in place, and motor sounds fine. Any ideas?

Also, after I got it running and found this problem,
I replaced the plugs and gave her an oil change.

Thanks for your time...

I'm like you Kent, I'd never done anything on line until I learned to post on this forum. But unfortunately I haven't been as well behaved as you, I think Doc had to delete more of my posts than anybody else.

Looking good guys, a lot of wisdom here. If you think of it, post a link to your first post so we can read down and see what all the old crusty rotor heads thought of the newbie when you joined.

In the process it delevoped carbon lock. Now I am tearing down the engine so that I can get my baby back on the road again. In the engine I found massive carbon deposits and that the chrome is beginning to chip off of both rotor housings. So now I am looking for some used rotor housings for an se that are in good condition. If anyone has some or knows where I can get some, please help.
I've owned 7s since '95, so I wasn't a total newb. Some of the slang (like SA, FB, etc.), I had never heard until joining the forum. One of my favorite newbie threads was posted by Jon (FB, FC, F-me thread). It wasn't his first as he has been here a little longer than me, but I do remember clearly when he posted that thread as it was the first thread that I could answer and was the 1st person in the thread to respond.

Heres mine. this is where I describe the redneck way to put rear axle
bearings in using iron pipe. I got some abuse for it but, hey, it worked fine.

I stumbled on this site in 04 when I was bringing my car out of a 3 year
hiatus caused by bad rear bearings and too many failed software startups.

Search newbie! Your first was actually about gsl-se vacuum lines. The oil one was actually your 5 post that day.

I tried to look that up to find the date, but I couldn't find that post. I know I must have posted something before that as that had to have been at least 2002 and I joined in 2001.

Thanks Tim, I think that comes from copying the link instead of going to the source and copying the address from there.

Now I realize there are really two things of interest, the first THREAD that we STARTED (which is what I linked to) and our first POST on someone else's thread, which should really show our long-lost newbieness.

I'll join the search and see if I can find the first post I put up, probably something really stupid.
