Yeah yeah, i know, i have to post pics, but that will have to wait! I cannot find my camera

I will update this thread with pics in a few, but im off to search the forums before i ask stupid questions :p

But, here is a quick one; Would it be stupid to streetport my engine without rebuilding it? or should i do it all in one shebang?

in order to streetport a motor you must tear it down first.
hence you have to rebuild it with a gasket kit at least.
apex seals will probably be out of spec if it is a higher mileage engine, as well as springs and possibly rotor housings.

Yeah, you can't really port an engine without taking the whole thing apart. Once it's apart, all of the soft seals must be replaced before reassembling it. And if it's out of the car and all dissasembled, you're porting and you're replacing the soft seals anyway, you might as well do the rest.

An awesome thread that details building an engine (though it's a 2nd Gen N/A 13b engine) is this one by Aaron Cake. The engines build up almost exactly the same way, so there's no big difference.

As stated. welcome to the Darkside. Porting is a rebuild, which can be done cheaper than many piston engines, depending on the extent of the rebuild. If all of the hard seals are good, it can be done for under 200 bucks, don't count on it though.

In my sig line is a link to the FSMs and other manuals.

Great choice for a 1st, 1st gen, lol. A Sa, the start of it all for the 7.

Welcome to the forum.

I recommend to everyone that buys their 1st 7 before they start getting into mods. Go thru the car and get it into reliable/safe mode. That means to check the following.
1)Brakes
2)Suspension
3).Condition of all the fluids
4).belts and hoses
5). All the tune-up components. IE: plugs/cap/rotor/wires/fuel filter/air filter
Once you get those in shape then and only then can you have your dessert.
