I'm going to resurrect the thread a lil. I was digging through my photobucket and found my old dynosheet.

BNR stage 3, microtech lt8s, hks intake filter (not CAI), 2.75" ic piping I think, ebay intercooler, greddy type s bov, 720cc primarys, 1000cc secondarys, cosmo fuel pump, SSAC manifold, no cats, no emissions, etc

NOTE: Fat exhaust leak due to warped downpipe flange, super leaking intercooler piping, ignition break up due to stock plugs, wouldn't hold peak boost to redline. Power made @ 11psi

I have since replaced the piping, downpipe, running all trailing edge plugs, etc and the car felt fast. SSAC manifold cracked...went back to stock manifold and now the car is much smoother without the exhaust leak, but feels slower

i initially had problems with holding 15psi to redline with my FMIC setup also.. I thought maybe it was backpressure within the turbine pushing the WG door open, dropping the boost. So I ended up adding an external spring to the WG actuator which helped, but boost would still drop off to about 12psi

Another interesting thing to note is now that i am back to running the stock IC and i have no problems making 15psi, no external spring needed

Here's mine:

BNR Stage 2
Microtech LT8
750cc x4
Racing Beat TII Exhaust
Greddy FMIC
18" wheels

15psi, but not all the way to redline, it drops off to about 10-12psi

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_2seYMX-SbY - 4th gear pull

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SGq65i7OHvU - 3rd gear pull

Not really sure why they did a 3rd gear pull but oh well. Enjoy

U guys need an intake like mine. IM having the opposite problem.

I replaced the stock TID for a 3" 45 deg. bend one on my BRN stage 3. ANd my boost jumped from 7psi to 14-15 psi.. Just by swapping TID pipes.

ANd it held 15 psi in second gear all the way to 7,500 rpms.

JoeCrappa, I am building a setup similar to yours but trying to make 315whp. Could you be a little more specific on your supporting mods? Also, how fresh is your motor? And have you run it in the 1/4 yet? Thanks

I have a 3" 45* TID. Still can't get mine to hold constant.

I just got my BNR stage 2 dynoed a few weeks ago.

270 whp on a dynopack (load bearing dyno)

it was at around 11-12 psi with the stock top mount.

mods:

Megasquirt-II
3" racing beat
custom 3" intake with apexi filter, no AFM
greddy profec b specII (soon to be replaced with a megasquirt valve)
P/S, no AC, e-fan
emissions removed.
550 primaries
1680 secondaries
walbro 255

I don't think I forgot anything. I'll try to scan the graph later tonight

intake tempts got up to around 160F at 11-12 psi so I stopped raising boost... I need to install the front mount that I have

Couple questions for you guys .....

I have a BNR stage 2, ready to go on. With the plan to go 550/680 injectors, and a target of 300whp. I know that 550/720 will net you that target but how much would 680 bring it down? I definetly know its hard to say exactly, but a guess would be good. If all of this was in the car it would just be a matter of going to the dyno. That's the thing though, none of this is on the car yet. I'm installing it all within the next month. If this will indeed still get me there, the plan was too get both pairs of injectors flow tested. If the following will not get me there, I will put the 680s in primary and get some 720 for secondary.

Mods are the following:

87 T2:

REV T2 Racing Beat Exhaust
BNR Stage 2
Greddy FMIC
Koyo rad
Apexi twin chamber bov
550 primary, 680 secondary
Walbro 255
Apexi power intake
SAFC
Greddy profec ii

you're tuning that with an SAFC? I would definitely recommend getting at least an rtek, preferably a standalone... SAFC is asking to blow your motor. do you at least have a wideband?

how much boost are you planning on running?

stock ports?

Yes .... I will be going standalone eventually but for now the funds aren't there. I was planning on getting an rtek to add to it. The funds aren't there either for the 2.1. Eventually I will either upgrade to the 2.1 or microtech. Little tight on cash when your getting the car painted with body kit and everything needed to get this turbo going at the same time.

Regarding boost, that's part of my question. What PSI could I run with these injectors, and what PSI could I run with the 680/720. Neighborhood of 10-12 I was thinking.

Yes I do have a plx wideband. Stock ports. As far as I know.

I used to have 550/720s and I ran out of injector running like 9 psi or something sad, but I was running pig rich at the time. I would definitely just suck it up and buy some 720s and maybe an rtek 1.8. You can always sell it later when you get something better

or you can look into getting a megasquirt. It's as good at least as a microtech (I would say better) and costs less than an rtek 2.1.

Thanks man, that was the advice I needed ... I think I will go with the 680s in primary and get some 720s for secondary. I don't want the idle to be affected too much.

As for the megasquirt, i'll start looking into it.

I redid my engine set up with a mild street port and an unclipped "P" trim exhaust wheel in the BNR Stage 4.

I was trying to make the car easier to drive in Auto-X and hillclimb and it worked! Power comes on much more progressively and part throttle now provides part boost/power.

I got a chance to run my car on a Dynojet brought into our area for a local "diesel days" dyno competition. I asked nicely, paid my money and waited and waited until all the trucks were done.

Only after the pulls did I get a handshake and some respect from the dyno operator.

They had NO FAN whatsoever on the portable Dynojet, so I was definitely keeping an eye on the temps via the laptop.

They hooked me up with an inductive ignition pick up and we got it reading proper rpm, but the reading went haywire during the pulls so i have no torque or rpm readings .

12psi boost, 4th gear from just before 2,000rpm to 8,000rpm rev limit. You can see on my 1st run I backed off the throttle before the rev limit- doh.

My Innovate wideband showed AFRs in the low 10s and 9s on 1st run and then all 9s on the later runs where the air and coolant temps kept climbing )no fan on dyno).

I think I will see some good power when I get a dyno tuning session and lean it out as well as see how much boost I can run on race gas before it stops making power.

Look at the power at 3,000rpm (55mph). This set up is making good low end power as I hoped.

Even small responsive ball bearing turbos like RX-6 and T3 exhaust GT35R struggle to make over 100RWHP at 3,000rpm. The stock sequential twins do the best with 120-150RWHP at 3,000rpm depending on the mods/boost.

Good numbers Blue!!!

I got a question though. Whats the highest hp with a stage 3 or 4, BESIDES THE GUY WHO MADE 402.7, that someone has made. I made 353 but I know that can't be the highest right???

353RWHP sounds good! How much boost?

Just assume you are the second highest until someone proves you wrong

-edit- found it! 13psi boost. Well, damn... When i get a good dyno tune with a little lean and clean I hope I can get as good as you at 13psi boost.

The 402RWHP cosmo build was with the big full .60 compressor housing (not little Hi Fi like me and I assume you) and was at 17psi boost...

I have a new hybrid coming out. It will be the stage 5 which uses the T61 compressor wheel that is in a TO4E compressor housing. It will be a few months before some dyno sheets come. The car runs now, just swapped out the Rtek to the haltech. Just waiting for the temps to get cooler before I go get some numbers. I am hoping to catch that 403 number.

BTW there isn't much of a power gain going to the bigger compressor housing. Spool up yes. Some wheels like the T61 need the longer diffuser wall. If the diffuser isn't long enough the compressed air will heat up causing inefficiency. The T04B compressor housings have made well into the 400 RWHP's on Rotarys with the 60-1 comrpessor wheel.

Very nice. I still want to see a stock port with BNR 3/4 "maxed out" with supporting mods and a great tune.

Actually it's not a bad idea. When I had BNR 3 and 4 my car was always running, then i decided to go to go all out with standalone, alky injection, big turbo, huge fuel pump, pinned and heavily ported motor etc.. etc.. and now my car hardly ever runs, lol. It no doubt shows my inadequacies as a mechanic/tuner however I'm sure lots of others are the exact same way and would love to have a 350hp car that only needs a direct swap turbo, rtek ecu, walbro pump, and some 720cc injectors.
