16g's dont have a bigger exhaust housing but they are known for 20+psi

Plus i have an s4 motor with s5 turbo/mani. <-- WOuld thhat help with a couple of extra psi atleast?( less compression less back press = lil more psi?)

I would not think that lower compression would help push higher boost.

I think you somewhat have the whole turbo idea confused. You CAN make a stock turbo push 20 psi, I know a ....person here in yakima, that did it once. (he is crazy) the thing is at that point the turbo is (not slowly) destroying itself, AND is blowing some serious HOT air into your engine. You pretty much never want to take a turbo past its efficiency range. (Yes I know you are talking hybrid, and the turbo will be balanced extremely well, but .... why not just stick with the 18 psi recommended? You will make more power at 15 psi with cooler air than 22 and your intake glowing red! :P )

If you want to do 20 psi ...and for some reason your stuck on it (just for bragging rights??), I would NOT recommend a hybrid. What are your goals? You want 410 rwhp on the stage 4 for a specific reason?

(also the 16Gs might have a more sophisticated wastegate setup alowing it to hold such high boost (although useless in my mind)?)

Again if your stuck on 20+ psi, install a stronger spring or weld shut your stock turbos wastegate... will save you money in the long run not having to buy and blow up a hybrid.

You are talking about smaller turbos on piston engines...

Piston engines have much less overlap so the exhaust dillution and intake heating from high backpressure from running high boost or a small turbo (or both) is MUCH less than a high overlap rotary.

This is why we must use huge exhaust housings and do not make much gains as we increase boost pressure (compared to a piston engine...)

The Renissis with no overlap is probably the answer for high boost or small turbo or both. Just need lots of octane for the high compression ratio or new low compression rotors made for it.

SO the efficiency of the stage 4 on rotary is around 15 psi and that would be different for a piston engine?

I didn't think you guys were talking about 16g turbo on a rotary and how they manage to make a lot of power at high boost because I have never seen a 16G on a rotary making any decent power.

I am explaining why turbo rotary engines do not gain much power as the boost is increased ESPECIALLY with a small exhaust side turbo.

overlap

It has very little to do with the compressor efficiency. Yes, you may drop some percentage of efficiency on a 60-1 doubling the boost from 15-30psi. Taking into account that drop in efficiency and why did you still gain so little power going from 15 to 30 psi ...exhaust backpressure and overlap.

Perfect example. GT35R doesn't seem to be making much more power at high boost than the old 60-1 on a rotary despite the compressor section being designed to do just that.

Yea i just talked to Bryan today. He said he would get mine shipped next wed. Looks great cant wait to get mine back. It will be close but i think that i can get it done in time. I have to leave April 4th to go get mine tuned in St. Louis. Looks awesome cant wait.

got my turbo yesterday, got it in last night, and drove the car today.
not nearly as powerfull right off the bat, but thats probably because i dont have a boost controller.
was running at about 16-18 psi on the stock turbo, now the BNR stage 2 is topping at about 4-5 psi. so, basically i need a boost controller to turn up the boost.
the turbo was super clean, and looks amazing.
cant wait to get an MBC and crank up the boost, then ill get some dyno charts for you guys.

hmmm 16-18 psi sounds really high/counter productive for the stock turbo, and even a little high for the stage 2... I'm a little worried.. good luck though! Definitely post up some dynos at all psi please!

haha, dont worry.
it was one of those deals where i had the spare parts, and the stock turbo was just overboosting/creeping like an animal.
i plan on running between 10-12 psi on the stage 2, and i know that i have more than enough fuel to support it (was running 10 and 11 afr's on the stock turbo at around 20 psi, and the fuel system was not even pushed that hard)
so, once i get a boost controller, i can turn it up a bit, and see what she does.

Are you guys running oil restrictors on your BNR hybrids? Just bolted on my stage 3 and I'm not sure if I should leave my restrictor on or remove it before I fire it up.

I havent had one on either and no problems. I put down 322rwhp and 285lb ft on 9lbs. We couldnt get it to hold boost, the wastegate kept blowing open. It is a blast to drive though. Now i just keep blowing vacuum lines off under the intake. I zip tied all the oil injector lines last night and for some reason today it sounds like another vacuum leak. This is getting old chasing these down.

(again I am not saying that anything is wrong with the turbos, I am just doing research. I was REALLY interested in getting a stage 2, and putting down 300 rwhp, but it looks like that's almost impossible with a stage 2, seeing how stage 3s are barely doing it..)
To make numbers, you have to run boost! The compressor peak effiencies on the stage 2 and stage 3/4 don't come alive till 13 psi. So when you get to 13 plus psi, the HP numbers start to jump higher until the compressor wheel/turbine housing/turbine wheel goes out of its effiency.

I have a 62-1 single on my FB RX7 and it dynoed 366 at 13 psi of boost. So that dyno sheet of 353 is great for 13 psi. You must consider how short the manifold is and that the turbo is internally wastegated. Bolt up is the most simple, cost effective way to improve on power. I am not saying its the best way to make 400 RWHP plus. Not everyone is interested in external gates and full T4's. They just want to run well and beat up on some mustangs!

I have a stage 2 hybrid on my T2 and absolutely love it. It has great spool and a good punch. I am running 14-15 psi and it runs flawless.... I will try and get to the dyno sometime in the near future.

Put an external spring on the actuator. That will get you some more boost. I would look at the pipes for leaks. Check the Throttle body O ring to make sure its good. If it is flat, silicone it.
