Exclamation Would running a MIDPLATE help keep DOWEL LANDINGS from breaking?

My motor is mounted from the front, would adding a midplate help keeping things from twisting/breaking?

Yes, it fits between the engine/tranny. Then, the midplate mounts to the chassis.

not if you don't run a front plate too. an added benefit to using a front plate, is that your aluminum v-bands won't leak. when you use v-bands for intake couplers, the motor can't rock at all or they will all leak.

How would a front plate work? Fit between the front cover and front iron?

My motor mount is already in front, like the old schools. I doubt that's what you're talking about.

And, I have V-Bands for intake couplers. I don't have any rubber intake couplers. Do people have a big problem with them leaking ?

We've run front and rear here for awhile, have good detonation event and you will still crack your rear plate.

Hmmmm, if these help that much I wonder why more people don't use them?

They're only $250

I just welded tabs on to my scatter shield and bolted them to the frame.

I hear you, but why are you running one? To help keep the motor together?

Sorry to butt in, but could you give me a more clear picture of what this reason is? Just better support for the rear of the engine? And just to be clear, I am NOT being sarcastic in any way, I really would like to know this information.

Thanks

well dowling should always be done.also consider a thick baffle plate between engine and sump.heres a pic of my engine running a mid plate from tim mcamis race cars.and my own front plate i made.they do flex easy so i cant see it being a solution to what you are asking about adding strength.

pm sent to better answer your question though.

you dont need the mid-plate, just do the dowel pin on the engine.
many race cars that run 7sec in the 1990's in P.R.

Cars like La atrevida, Anais, adriana, etc...
