[QUOTE=redneckvtek]what is DTSS?/QUOTE]

"The rear suspension was more unique. As all the Japanese automotive manufactures were playing with rear steering in the mid -eighties, the RX-7 followed suite with an independent, Dynamic Tracking Suspension System with trailing arms, Triaxial floating hubs, camber control links, coil springs, and a 12 mm anti-roll bar (14 mm with the Heavy Duty suspension). Mazda claims to have applied for more than 100 patents on their Dynamic Tracking Suspension System independent rear suspension. With DTSS, the rear wheels become an active component of the steering system, changing from toe-out during low lateral force cornering to toe-in for extra stability during high lateral acceleration cornering situations and to reduce lift throttle over steer which had been a problem on the 1st generation. Similar systems were soon found on Porsche and other German manufactures vehicles."

Yeah, guys. That whole thing that happened is probably suspension related. I have my suspension pretty much on it's softest setting but it still feels like riding in a go-kart. Bouncing around doesn't leave much tire touching the ground on some turns, hence the spinout; gravel didn't help either.

Like greg said.

Basically at the limit just before you would feel like the rear end was going to step out on you, it doesnt. Instead you get the feeling that the rear just settled itself and your turn rate increases. At first its a disconcerting feeling because you are preparing to hear the tires squeeling to let you know the limit is near, then suddenly the car starts turning in stronger and you get the feedback from the car that you have a lot more to play with before losing traction. Once you understand WHEN this is going to happen you can enter a turn more aggressively and let the suspension/tires do their job. Knowing that it will stick when you get that initial hint of impending oversteer is a reassuring thing.

So what's the deal with Deal's Gap? Where is the Dragon Death Squad assembling at? You know if I don't sell the car by then that I'll beat the hell out of it with a for sale sign on.

^That would be the place to advertise too, as long as those people don't actually SEE you beating the hell out of it, haha. I'm not sure what the deal is, I don't know if I'm even going anymore.

Cable Cove. that is the name of the camp ground up there. Im going to look into it later today/tonight and see what info I can gather. IIRC its $10 a night with a 14 night limit. I think you can have 2 or 3 tents per site. Thats what Im thinking about doing.

If not, then Ill be with the group at fontana.

edit: there are 26 seperate camp sites, each with its own parking area, so no need to park the car in a common lot and leave it unattended.

Who else is in? I know I'm getting about $450 worth of stuff, haha.

https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...6&page=1&pp=15

http://www.canterburymazda.co.nz/par...ries/clothing/

I may just order it myself though if there's not going to be a discount with the GB. I mean, if it's gonna cost the same or more than just getting it straight from Canterbury, what's the point?

I saw a black FC around Hillsborough on my way back from VIR Sunday. Anyone we know?

My last $300 mod trimmed 10 seconds off my best VIR full course time. Driver education. I still have almost 7 seconds to trim to even keep close to Fritz Flynn.

Fritz can't be that fast I might have a mod that will help you catch up, some 17" Hoosier slicks

Carl FTW hah! BTW, wish I had looked at your car more Saturday night. I didn't realize it was yours untill I asked as you were pulling out. From what I saw it looked nice though.

Matt must let us know about this $300 mod!!! Sounds like it was well spent. I'm really trying to budget up at least one if not two of them up there this year.

Greg- A $300 HPDE. No part I have bought or tweak I've made has given the same value.

Carl- Fritz has video of him running 2:16's in a stock FD. The man should be dubbed Mr. VIR.

That's what I figured, I need to buy the same stuff hah! Steve was trying his best to get me on the track last year at the CHIN or PCA one... I'm going to do at least one there this year no matter what. Fritz has some great videos, love watching them!

I'm in the same boat, right now I'd love to just have a ton of money to use on HPDE's.

On another note...I just picked up a SLEW of FB/FC parts. A whole 13b engine with just a bad apex seal, housings, intake manifolds, fans, fan shrouds, an FB dash, and FB front bumper and lower air dam, just so many parts. Here are some of the pics. It's kind of hard to see since they're still in the truck bed, haha. I'll unload everything tomorrow hopefully. At least before the end of the week since my beloved FD will be home Saturday and need a roof.

Oh yeah, a couple more pics and I got 4 manuals too. I'll take more pics of everything once I get it unloaded from the truck.

I don't have lots of money, but I make difficult choices to budget it. I drove a $900 beater for years. I resist the urge to buy car parts. I'd love a new set of wheels, but...

Set of wheels = 2 HPDE fees + Brakes

Take my lunch to work. Haven't been to a movie theater since...JAWS it feels like. Track is an addiction. You'd be surprised what it makes you do.

I wished I had video to show of the demonic station wagon. That SOB was fast. I need to find out more about it, but someone told me it was built up out of Ford Racing parts.

Carl- actually I got them from the lady I get my hazardous materials from at work. Her husband used to race FBs many years ago, and he had a bunch of parts laying around. Now he builds old motorcycles, like Triumphs and British bikes. He also has an Buick Regal, I don't think it was a GNX but it's something special like that. And he's restoring another car but I don't remember what it is.

Matt- I wish I could budget like you, but food and actually working on and rebuilding cars are dear to my heart right now, so it might be a while til I get on the track. I spend enough money just getting parts, I'd hate to see what that coupled with paying for track time would get me, unless it would be straight to a race team, haha. But that's pretty much impossible. However, I primarily bought all these parts to sell them on the forum, whatever I'm not going to use anyway. When we worked out the deal last summer, I don't think I even had my first FB yet, so I was planning on selling ALL the parts. Now I'm keeping some of them.

Speaking of $, after some discussion it turns out the autocross entry fees will not be raised so if you know someone who you think should come send then please them on. More is better in this case. It will help spread the volunteering load. $50 is pretty cheap for a full day of car fun.

On food, I still owe Greg a steak dinner.
