Saturdays In Raleigh, Nc
Gary: We should be able to make it for the RRDI meet, although we would be a bit late. Unless, of course, we all decide to get something to eat near the airport. I might skip the RRDI altogether since I'll need to wake up at like 4:30 to make it to the airport by 7:30.
I got back to Raleigh just in time to miss the meeet by 5 minutes. Only Chris was left when I got there, but I was so tired by that point that I just went on home. Sorry Chris, I was going to at least eat there, but by that time greasy burgers didn't sound to appetizing.
The Auto-X was awesome. I had lost of fun and learned a whole lot of what the car can handle and how much more I need to through at it before each coming close to it's limit.
I was paying too much attention to what was ahead me, so I didn;t count how many cones I murdered. But I know I mortally wounded at least one, and got more than a few grazing shots on others. I had one bad spin out, not bad-wreck but bad way off course. and then 1 slightly off course spin out. Other than those 2 I think I only completely missed the cone path twice, but then again when your thinking about what's ahead of you it's easy to not realize you missed something or went on the wrong side of a cone.
Anyway it was a blast, sorry I missed peoples at the meet tonight. And see ya'll next meet!

Hey everyone, been home for a little bit now and I'm finally coming down from my adrenaline high! The Auto-X was completely amazing!!! I myself never lost control of my car, but others did...hint, hint^! On the 1st timed course I pulled 35.6 sec lap, my best lap...and on the 2nd timed course, my fastest was 65.1 sec. Not bad for a complete noob to autocross! I can't wait for the next event! We should do something like this as a group. See ya at the next meet.

I'm too tired to read all of this page, but I was trying to convince Josh to stop by Char-Grille with me tonight but I talked to Phil and he said he didn't think anyone would be there due to the autoX. For those of you that don't know, Josh and I picked up my car in GA today, on ZERO sleep. We haven't slept for two days, besides about 15 minutes just before sunrise in the parking lot of an Economy Inn somewhere in SC. I'm pretty sure he's sleeping right now actually, haha. And we also thought about going to Deal's Gap if we were close enough, haha. Well, he mentioned it (probably more joking than anything) but I was dead serious. Turns out we weren't as close as I thought, so we skipped it. Here are some pics from today...
Oh yeah, congrats Nic on being so good at the autoX, haha. I'm sure you all had LOADS of fun, I wish I had been there.

^I love rolling shots. Here are a couple more shots...
Alright, I'm going to bed now. I have alot of maintenance tomorrow. Oh yeah, I think they fixed a few wiring problems when they installed the carpet, haha.

Ugh. Got a speeding ticket this morning in Cary. Totally my fault.
Haven't had a ticket since 2005, so I don't know what to do to get it dropped down.
Advice?
84MPH in a 55MPH zone on US1 going South in Cary.

I think I am actually gonna be able to make this RRDI.
I will make a motion that we pay Johny and Karen's expenses this year since they paid for a bunch of people that went or didn't go last year. Who is going and when do you plan on leaving?

David and I already spoke to Johny this year about it, and he said it wasn't his cup of tea.
He prefers the official driving courses. I don't blame him. If I had that much blood, sweat, tears, and MONEY invested in my car, then I'd probably feel the same way.
im going up wednesday morning... leave at 11 at the latest...
and who do i get in touch with to get a shirt, esp cause im probably not going to be there on saturday when they have the banquet thingy...

Gary/Nic - hahahahah!!!! Fun wasn't it!!! Yeah it makes ya want to do more track stuff for sure. It really is amazing what you find you can do by the end of the day, how much you learn and want to learn. Glad you guys did it and had fun!
Deals Gap - I'm going up Thursday, early Thursday, early Thursday morning, early as in leaving at the crack of midnight 12:01am Thursday morning. Ok, maybe not but early enought to get there as soon as I can check in. I still haven't gotten my stuff in the mail from them yet.

Anyone going to have some room in their room? Im kicking around camping, but if the weather is shitty I may just stay at the inn. Also the inn sounds like its going to be more enjoyable as far as the social scene goes. Ill just take up an inflatable mattress and sleeping bag corner of the room. If anyone doesnt mind Id appreciate it, and obviously pay my share.

Perky I agree on the drive back Sunday but I have to be at work Monday so... I am going to do the Skyway drive Sunday though no matter what. I'll either just make a few more stops on the way back to break it up or shoot it back home like we did last year with just a stop or two.

Second, find out how much it will cost you. Go to Geico, Progressive, whatever and get an insurance quote with and without that ticket. The reason will be apparent in the next step-
-Get a lawyer. If the DA doesn't want to play nice, it's time for you to play hardball. Lawyer's aren't cheap, but for speeding they really aren't that expensive either. This is where the insurance quote comes in. If your insurance were to jump $500 per six months for the ticket, then it would be worth it to pay that $500 to a lawyer to get the charges reduced or dropped.
I agree with Joey on getting a lawyer. They walk in with stacks of tickets to be knocked down. Some folks are able to get it changed to something meaningless like improper equipment. You might also research if its time to ask for a PJC (prayer for judgment).
For those that couldn't make it to the autocross, you should be proud of those that did. There was some good feedback from the instructors. Autocross, is likely the most intense driving you can do and some instructors were surprised how well some of the drivers performed with no AX experience. Nic & I had the same instructor, Rick Butters who drove an S2000. IIRC, Joey had Miata ace Kevin Butler. The MSCCNC staff was pretty busy helping Ashraf so I did not get to speak with everyone.
As for the next one, well....I think we need some time. You would not believe the work it takes to put one one on: site rental, insurance, instructors, course prep & design, organizing the ever shifting run groups and so on. We're beat.
And its time to start organizing for the RBQ.

My first step would be a lawyer, but that holds other advantages. such as not having to miss work(i prefer using my time off for more enjoyable things) last time i got a lawyer i think it was a little less than 400 and that included court costs, etc.
I think with a relatively clean record a PFC would not be that difficult to get. Honestly, I would save the money and go for the PJC, if you have time to go to court, and look really pathetic. beg the judge, tell him how youare a college student, and were in fear for your job if you showed up late.

feel free to stay in our room. Bring the mattress, though, cuz I do believe our extra bed is taken by another couple who is coming.
Thanks for all the advice guys... I'll PM you with my questions when I get a chance to think about all this. I don't mind showing up in court.
I'll just be missing class... and I'd rather show up and obviously make an effort so that I'll have a LICENSE for my fun days off!!!

Besides... it will be a while before I have my Supra or FD, so that should help me stay out of some trouble. lol
