Man doesn't it figure you'd have a run in. You can run 85 all around town on the beltline or through downtown at 45 with traffic and never see a cop. The first time you try and have some fun....

Back in the day there was about 6 of them use to run with us in the SCCA so we got to know them pretty well. Would come over and party with us and not say a word about what was going on. Back in those days half of Raleigh didn't exist so you could find nice twisty back roads to drive on or places to drag that you never had to worry about. I had a '70 hemi-orange Dodge Challenger that was well known by the Raleigh Police. Me and my best friend who had a '72 Z28 (totaled it!), a '65 GTO and a '67 Firebird use to play cat and mouse with them on backroads and around town back then. Was rather fun watching them try to keep a 318ci stock Police car on the road in the twisties or even get up to the speed limit before we were out of sight. They would show up in this lot where we use to hang out or at his garage and then either hang out and talk about cars and racing or give us the required "talk" since it had gone out on the radio for screwing around with them. If it wasn't for them knowing who we were I would have spent many a night in the slammer or worse. It's kind of funny, in all those years from the time we were 18 to 24 I only got one ticket in Raleigh and that was thrown out before the court date. Glad you ran into one that was "very" nice 'cause there were, and hopefully still are, some who are cool about it.

Damn Greg, I would have pictured you in an RX-3 or something, maybe a 110S Cosmo? What's the deal man?

On a different note, did anyone post the flyers on RRDI yet? I rarely check that site or any other forum, I guess I'll have to get on that though.

Well, I'll be watching for them, but if you see them let me know anyway cause I'll probably forget, haha. You know what they say...

greg, if it makes you feel better, its not that clean. the pics make it seem that way. Its got a cheap paint job on it. the seats are nice though. I would be willing to trade those seats for some clean grey T-II seats.

I grew up working on MOPAR cars. The 1970 Challenger to me is one of those cars that I had to have and would love to have again. There were 3 of us that had them that hung out: me, Andy and another guy. Mike with his Z28/GTO/Firebird and Terry and another guy with Camaros. We were all into smallblock engines and road course type driving. Got to remember this was from '72 to '76 or so. We were just getting out of high school and going off to college or whatever and just getting into the SCCA/IMSA thing. There was only one guy around, Tim Nines (yes his dad had a junkyard) that was into rotary stuff. Later on Team Highball, the IMSA/SCCA team I hung out with, got into them after a stint with AMC sponsored cars and did very well racing them during that heyday of Mazda owning the GTU Class and others in the 80's. There was one car, a first gen 7 or something, painted brown with the EZ WIder rolling papers logo. Wonder why I remember that one???? There are some good shots of Amos and some of the guys running the 7s at various places on the net still and they won several races and championships. Ramble ramble ramble....and all thru that wacked car stuff I was playing in bands... I had two choices and music was my first love.

Hmmm, yeah...that one was kind of a cluster, haha, but it worked out for all of us! If you don't count all the work, heartache, blood, sweat and tears, etc.
