David promised me that he wouldn't spoil my fun, so I'm going to post on here, too...

He'll be getting back from deployment the first week in May, and I will be having a Surprise Welcome Home Birthday Party for him on Saturday, May 6th.

It will be at my house, at 12:30.

We will be cooking out, and of course, a birthday cake... but there will be no alcohol allowed... cuz it's at my parents house. Thought I'd throw that disclaimer out there. Sorry guys.

Anyway, I hope to see you there. PM me or call me to RSVP, and I will give you directions then.

-Stina

Is David just on leave or is he back for good? Or semi-good, as military life goes...

anyone off work on the night of May 3rd and the morning/afternoon of May 4th who would like to come on base with me see him off the ship?

I need to know soon, so I can get him the names for security to let us on base.

If people can't do both the naval base trip AND the party, I'd definitely prefer to have a better turnout for the surprise party. I was just hoping some pplz might have work/class off, since that's the last week of this semester.

Hey guys, I've been missing FCs a lot lately, and I'm kinda bored with the GSL-SE project now, so if anyone knows anyone that would be interested in doing a straight trade, my SE for a FC (preferably S4, light is good) let me know.

Hey guys and gals, I got a ?. Do RX-8 seats bolt into an FD with little or no modification? I remember them being pretty comfy and my seats gotta go. I love the look of the stock FD seats but they just kill you if you're driving over a couple hours, and I hate having to "switch cheeks". Just checkin.

Here's the only pic I've got of it now. It doesn't look like much, but it's fun as hell to drive. Needs a new suspension though. It puts down 125 HP to the wheels, a stock SE puts down 101, if that tells you anything. It's definately an unfinished project car, though.

The rundown is:
Chassis has 145k miles (I think)
Dunno about engine, could be original but I don't think so. Definately strong.
K&N cone filter
Racing Beat cat replacement pipe (still have stock cats also, for inspection time)
Crappy muffler. Makes it loud with the straight pipe, but that can be fixed with a decent muffler. I kinda like the loud myself.
FC transmission (better highway economy)
Recently replaced clutch master and slave cylinders, I have a fuel filter that will probably be on the car by the time I trade it.
Spark plugs, belts, and coolant were all replaced last year.
Has an oil leak I still haven't pinpointed.

I haven't driven it much lately, but I used the car as my daily driver for the majority of last year until I bought the Miata. You just have to feed it oil from time to time.

If I recall, the RX-8 seats are too big for the FC, and I think I remember the FD has a smaller interior layout than the FC.

See if one of the RX-8 owners will let you measure their seats...

If you can make them fit, then I SOOO will be putting RX-8 seats in an FD when I get one.

I love the 8 seats.

Eh, I'm not sure. I really don't want money, I want an FC, so it would have to be enough to by one.

I'd have to think a bit to figure out what it's worth. I'd say it's worth a bit more than when I bought it since I added about 25 horsepower and some much needed maintenance However, it still looks like hell.

If you search in the 3rd gen section you will find the answer I think. I am pretty sure the RX-8 seats are too big too fit into a FD along with most aftermarket seats as well. I think the best way is to get better padding put in the stock seats and get them reupholstered.

Anyone near Asheboro that's pretty good at working on and trouble shooting FCs? I've had a problem w/ mine for a while now and just can't get it to run. Getting pretty sick and tired of this now. In the last week I've taken off the afm and found it to be giving the wrong resistances. After cleaning it with a wire brush it was measured again and running just fine.

So I put it back in today and got a battery in... The car's behavior hasn't changed one damn bit. It just starts up, revs to ~1.5k, then dies. No amount of throttle affects it in any way. Anyone around w/ an idea of what's wrong or that could possibly come down a Saturday or something to try to help?

Preferably someone with a T2 so we could stick the afm in my car to see if the afm is just bad.

Yeah you're probably right. I just wanted to do something different. I'm 6'3" so I was planning on getting the Bride Gaias seats since they sit low, but they're like $1600 right now, not to mention I don't know if they're any more comfy. That's alot to drop on something just to find out you don't like it. Thanks folks.

(I'm kidding.)

All this seat talking makes me think of Police Acadamy when the black guy (ex-football player) rips the drivers seat out of the Honda and sits in the back seat so he can learn to drive.

^I'm about to that point Greg, don't think it hasn't crossed my mind, haha. I think I'll go ahead and get the Bride's. It's alot of money but at least I know I'll fit.

New issue, I just ordered my engine mounts on a GB from 4CNair, and I'm thinking about the Delrin bushings GB from TireSmokin7, which is the same material Jimlab used to use I've been told and everyone thought they were the heat, but Cody (4CNair) told me he's putting together a kit that'll be alot cheaper and better material. So does anyone know about this stuff? I don't mean to bogart the thread, just wondering. And does anyone know if Johny will be willing to part with that nice new REW for more than what he paid? I guess I'll have to consult my magic 8-ball, but all that broken record ever tells me anymore is "try again later", the SOB.

All are welcome, I'd really like to have the entire club make it out here... cuz you all have really been a big help on this deployment.

IIRC Jimlab said that derlin and the other material is the same thing. I remember it in his V8 monstrosity thread

Well Cody said Jimlab got mad at him for talking about making his bushings, and he was saying it was a different material than what Jimlab used. I sent Jimlab a PM last night asking him about it anyway. I haven't heard back from him yet but hopefully he'll clue me in. If I can get some as good or better than Delrin for a lot cheaper, I'm all over it, but I want to make SURE it's gonna be as good or better. I want Melba Toast to be happy! And next year I want to keep up with a Blackhawk too dammit! lol

Thanks though, I'll look in that thread tonight when I get home from work.
