Glad to hear everyone got back safely, sounds like Josh went to sleep before he got back. Glad to see the FD made it early for the departure time. The first alternative to the Drive In is over and hope everyone had a great time, we need to do this periodically when there is something going on and someone wants to put a trip together.

It looks like it was a good trip and some nice cars. Needless to say we had a lite turnout at the Char Grill Saturday night. We had a new FC owner from Arizona bring his car in and it was Greg, Tate, and I for Saturday.

In July we're going to do a cookout on the 9th probably at Falls Lake to welcome Eric back to the real world. He is supposed to be returning from Kuwait very soon and drive up to the RRDI on that Saturday. Sounds like he'll need to do some PM work on his FD since he's been away for many months. I'll bring a fuel filter, some others want to bring him a new drive belt, or an oil filter, a wiper refill, etc just to say welcome home and helpout with the little things.

Lets look at the Oak Tree Nationals SCCA sanctioned event in early August as a trip and DI at VIR.

If the Nopi group hadn't been so tired, we should have all met up at the Char-grill meet. We were back in Raleigh around 7-ish. LOL. I didn't even think about the meet until I had already started getting relaxed enough to fall asleep. It was a long Saturday. Sad to see I missed a meet. I figured everyone was busy, cuz there were like 5 weddings going on this weekend, and the regular people said they were busy or at Nopi with me.

GRR: First weekend in August. I'll create a thread later this week... for details and other stuff. Just so our local guys know for now. It's going to be on that Saturday of that weekend. August 6th. Plenty of time for people to have one last big to-do before we all go back to school for the fall.

Idea, since GRR is the same weekend as VIR we could do both if anyone wants to. Since some people will be from out of town and spending the night maybe we could meet again Sunday morning and caravan to VIR for the races.

Hey guys, I'm going out to TN this weekend. Any of you want to come out and swing by deal's gap, let me know. I'm gonna head out Thursday or Friday, I'll be there until Tuesday.

Spent most of yesterday printing out some new business cards for the RRDI. I'll have them at the next drive-In for anyone that wants to take a few to passout when you find a new rotary car around your area.

Sorry, I'd love to go up to Deals Gap and Fontana but my GTU will be up on jack stands on Friday. I just ordered 4 qts of RP 75W90 Grear Oil yesterday to change and flush my tranny and differential oil. If I can cleanout what's in there now, it has been awhile since the tranny oil was changed, and replace it with Royal Purple gear oil it should be in good shape for a long time if I can do this once every year or two.

Anyone ever had their tranny flushed and cleaned and is it worth the money? I'll check some other sites.

Sounds like a cool idea. Ask Josh. He's the other planner of the event. I think it would be really cool, though, personally. we could meet up Sunday morning for VIR, but do our GRR picnic Saturday. It just depends on if ppl are willing to dedicate that entire weekend to the RRDI people.

A tranny flush is only needed for an automatic, because it's really hard to get all the fluid out of the torque converter when you just drain and refill. A manual uses gear oil and doesn't need a flush.

$300 ain't cheap, I'd rephrase that as "the least expensive I found are $ 300". The term or concept of "Cheap" does not exist in the FD world.

Thanks Ray, I also did a 2 gen forum search and found the same advice, if want to wash it out the only thing recommended is to buy some cheap gear oil and run it through the tranny before filling it with the good stuff. Since I'm putting it Royal Purple this time and I don't know when the tranny fluid was last changed and what has been in there I just want to get as much of the old stuff out along with any trash that has accumulated in the tranny and differential. I can by a gallon of 80-90W gear oil for about $6 and flush the transmission out with that before I put the good stuff in.

Anone know what size washers are needed on the drain plugs? The FSM says to replace the washers but doesn't give any specs for type of metal or size.

I bet your differential oil has never been changed. I took the car to NTB when Steve was turning my rotors and we put some redline gear oil in my limited slip, and man that old **** was NASTY. It smelled terrible and just looked to be full of buildup.

As far as the washers, well that's a question for Steve to answer. I just talked to him a little while ago and he's on his way back home from the honeymoon (they are driving). They're about to stop in Nashville for a bit and I think should be back by tomorrow.

hey dunno if this belongs here, but can someone tell me where the proper lift points are on a 3rd gen? I'm from a local shop and our main mechanic who worked on car is unavailable, and we need to get the car on the lift, and don't want to mess up the frame, all of my searching has brought up posts about jacking points, but none for lifting points. this is for a possible downpipe install for a customer, thanks in advance...

christina, it happens. i am late most of the times, so the rule would affect me too. i think everyone was just cranky from lack of sleep. seriously though we should set a rule like that for RRDI. especially if there is something that we need to be to at a specific time.

Go to this site: http://www.iluvmyrx7.com/
click on the manuals, 3rd Gen and if you have Adobe Acrobat Reader 5.0 or higher you'll see the manual index. Choose General Info and there will be a few diagrams of where the lift points are on the frame.

Yeah thats me, to bad the camaro couldn't keep up. Actually I think he blew by me.
I gained a lot of experience there was a lot of times I should have been wot but found myself just crusing. Anyway I never went off track and I didn't break anything.

We have been away last week on a house boat on smith mountian lake. I haven't done anything to my car yet. My dad is also in the hospital so Im taking care of a lot of prioritys first.
Thanks for the pic.

Word is that there's an R32 Skyline GT-R out there lately. My buddy saw it last weekend. He's got a heavily modded black VR-4 and they might run...
