Thanks, Jesse. A couple of people want to pick up some NGK platinum spark plugs? Any FD guys want to tell us FC'ers what spark plugs y'all use? Just to be sure there is no confusion, Eric drives a MB FD, so what you get should be for a 93/94 FD.

Let's start a list of who is coming if the cookout happens on Saturday. I need a good number to estimate how much hamburger and how many hotdogs and buns to bring. It could possibly be raining Saturday so I'll definitely go for a shelter at Beaverdam Rec. Area to insure that we have someplace to gather if it does rain.

For driving directions go here: http://ils.unc.edu/parkproject/visit...irections.html

I work at Advance Auto... so I get 20% discount. I just got back in town from Virginia today... I left Friday for the weekend... so I have totally missed the news about this picnic on Saturday. Someone PM me/call me and lemme know the details!! I'm gonna read what I missed, and maybe I can fill in the gaps.

Bobby claimed napkins and plates. I have them on my couch saved for the next Rotary event, so it looks like it will be this one. I have no clue if I will be able to make it to the picnic, but I'm sure gonna try if I'm not working!!!

I won't claim anything to bring until I know that I'm able to make it. I should know by Wednesday (tomorrow) night.

By the way... welcome home, Steve... and congratulations!! I want to see the pictures!

Ok... caught up on the forum... I figured I'd just add on to this post. Yeah the R32 came to my Advance Auto store a couple of weekends ago, and one of the guys I work with got to put some sort of belt on it for the guy. Sucks the thing died.

Oh... and who's Eric??

Well, I broke my car on the dragon, yep I destroyed the diff mounts. it handles so well, I just kept going faster, but now it's broke. I had to drive it 8 hours all the way back to J-ville with broken diff mounts, that sucked.

does it really. i think it is funny since people are always talking about rotaries blowing, and how other cars are soooo indestructible, blah, blah. i think the only engine that seems to be nearly that amazing is the 2JZ (Supra motor for those who don't know ). However, I am sure you could even blow one of those if you keep cranking up the boost like a moron.

New FD owner in Raleigh asking for some help

I just got a PM from a new FD owner in Raleigh. He just bought a 93 and has some questions about the car, he wanted to know what an CFM is and where is it located? Can he remove it without affecting the car's performance:0)! just kiddin' He'll try and make the Drive_in this weekend so y'all FD guys be prepared to help a new owner out.

Christina, Eric is in the Air Force and has been to several DIs last year and I beleive he was able to make a couple this spring before leaving for the big sandbox. He is back and we're going to celebrate his return this Saturday. Which AA store do you run? Are you in Wake Forest or Rawly? Can you get me a fuel filter and a set of spark plugs for a 93-94 FD?

Jason, sorry to hear about the diff mounts. 17+ year old car, things break. But they can be fixed or replaced. Got to spend your money on something, right? Good job driving it back to Camp from Maryville, that had to be a long drive back.
Bring your FB up this Saturday for the cookout.

LOL, I broke the diff mount on my brothers car as well the last time we were up there. He had driven it like 4 times up the dragon and then the first time i drove it, "wham". Next time i go up there i am going to hang it up on that tree of shame. At least all the 2nd gen owners will know what it is. Go on Mazdatrix.com and get ya another one.

Is anybody bringing the drinks on saturday?

I just replaced that front diff mount 6 months ago, this is the second time it has broke! But this time it is worse because I kept driving the **** out of it after it broke, so I think a rear mount broke as well. This time I'm going to replace the rear mounts and tranny mounts too.

I will come out Saturday, I'll be driving the FB, it doesn't break as easy.

No one has stepped up to that yet. I'll let you know the head count as soon as I can get an estimate.

Please come to the cookout on Falls Lake. I missed seeing you the last time you made it up this way. I'll be there early to set up stuff. I don't know which shelter we'll get but they have most of them open for Saturday. If we can't find one at Beaverdam then we 'll be across the road at Sandling Beach Rec. Area. I'll post the final directions and info Thursday night.

Hey guys I can't make it this weekend because I'll be in New York. Hopefully I can get to the following meeting. I'm planning on installing my suspension that day if Jeremy's got time to help me out.

Welcome to the rotary world Daniel san. I wouldn't call us a club quite yet, we're still evolving. We have members but don't have dues, or officers, or by laws (some of us do have in-laws), or start times and end times. We have what we call Drive-Ins, we show up and eat and talk rotaries and go home when we get tired or the sun comes up. Its really a pretty informal thing but we love rotaries and I am sure we can answer your questions and help you with problems. Where are you located in NC and what challenge has your rotary wonder bestowed upon you?

DOH! Sorry I haven't been around guys, been working on my dad's tractor and cutting up a tree that fell in my yard last Tuesday. Sucks using a chainsaw in 90+ degree weather. Anyways, I'll be working till 5 on Saturday (as usuall) so if there is anything we're gonna need that gets missed call me at the store (828-4888) before 5 and I'll pick it up on the way out there.

List of quests for Saturday's Cookout/RRDI

At this time I have the following people committed to the cookout:
1. Eric (FD)
2. Bert (FC)
3. Steve (FC)
4. Bobby (8)
5. Jason (FB)
6. Josh (FD)
7. David (FC owner)

I hope Greg will make it after work. Who's next?

Also, we've still got the bottle of Purple Ice I picked up at Tires 'N Parts as a door prize if we have all gens present and a couple of verts. It looks like we'll have the all gens present with Jason's FB and Bobby's RX8. It would be nice to have a really good turnout for Eric's Rotary World homecoming and to fill the parking lot at the shelter area.

Bert, which shelter will you attempt to get. Looking at the map, there are 10 in the area. Sounds like we might be just riding around until we see a bunch of rotary cars!

Depends on how you'd get there. I'd go up I-440 to Glenwood/Crabtree Valley exit and make a left onto Glenwood. Go past Crabtree Valley and make a right on Hwy 50/Creedmoor Road. Beaverdam Rec. Area is about 10-12 miles north of Crabtree Valley on Creedmoor Road. As you go north you'll cross under Hwy 98 and Beaverdam will be 2-3 miles ahead on your right and Sandling Beach Rec Area will be on the left. Make a right into Beaverdam, stop at the gatehouse and pay $5 to get in and drive until you see the rotaries. We'll have a picnic shelter and there will be a nice swimming beach if you want to swim.

CAUTION: Alcoholic beverages aren't permitted in State Park areas. Besides with a driving event and water activites alcohol isn't such a great idea anyway.

Yeah Bobby, that's about it. They reported today that they had only one or two reserved for Saturday so I'll get there ahead of schedule and occupy the best available for our use. Just drive around until you start smelling that rotary aroma, we'll be close by. Christina said she had the plates and cups from Rockingham if you can arrange to get them.

Sorry man, you're now on my list! No the oil filter will be great, if you want to bring some finger food things like chips, salsa, cookies, whatever that would be cool. You make 10 committed so far. Which car will you be bringing, your drifter or the road racer?

1. Eric (FD)
2. Bert (FC)
3. Steve (FC)
4. Bobby (8)
5. Jason (FB)
6. Josh (FD)
7. David (FC owner)
8. Jesse (FC)
9. 1RX7dvr (FC)
10. Greg (FC Vert)

I met Carl senior the other day, I was coming from Cary on Hwy 54 and decided to stop by the shop and drop off a few RRDI business cards. Nice shop. If you see Carl mention the cookout to him.
