Sorry I didn't make it sounds like a blast! And if you want a project car my FB has it covered big time .
I fell off the wagon Saturday, Bought a SVT Focus, dont shoot, dont shoot! I had to get a car to haul the kids and just couldn't see how to fit them in the back of the RX-7, at least without going to jail. Whay happened to the good old days when I was a kid and rolled around in the back of dad's 240Z .

Anyone going on the smokey mountains cruise July 10th? Looking to convoy up on the 9th if anyone is interested.

Next Drawing Giveaway

Good news, I emailed Bryan at RotorSports Racing this afternoon just to let him know how good my engine rebuild is doing and how much I am enjoying their work. I also mentioned that everyone has been interested in the spark plug wires they installed on the rebuild and asked if they would do a group buy for our members on some sets. Here is his reply:
"Sounds like you have a good group of enthusiasts that enjoy their 7's. How about we donate a set of our Sparkplug wires for your next doorprize? Just let me know what model you would prefer. As for a group
buy - I can sell them for $63.00/set on a group buy of 5+ sets. We'll even give you guys color options of Red, Yellow, Blue, Purple, Black, or Grey.

Regards,
Bryan Smith"

I checked their website and the wire sets sell for $75.00 per set. Seems like a pretty good deal if you are in need of a top quality replacement wires this would be a good time to buy - we've all got to change or plugs and wires anyway, might as well go first class. Josh, just think how much a new set of red, yellow, or purple wires under the hood would impress those little girls!

Think about this guys and let me know how many sets and what color you want at the next meeting or post it here.

Sounds great! However much to my shame I didn't notice your wires, Bert, but I will take a look at them next time and see about getting a set. Maybe blue cuz we all know ricer girls love engine bling. now if only i had some chrome or polished aluminum.

Actually they think the foodlion lot will be too crowded. So they are meeting at the atlantic one instead.

it would be cool to dominate the rice scene with sevens and supras, but maybe that is just me.

hopefully, we should have a 2-3 of guys in FDs from Greensboro coming to the next meeting. which should make it an even bigger group of sevens for the next meeting.

Johny (Zooooom),
I live in Cary, NC. I didn't realize you live that far away. Since my FD is a weekend car, I guess we can meet up at the 7/10 meeting so you can take a peek.

To GTUser,
I heard a lot of good things about Rotory Sport in Charlotte. Do they provide full range of tuning and convertion service (e.g. Twin to single turbo)? Is their price reasonable?

Anyone who can share their past experience with Rotory Sport Racing would be greatly appreciated as I am plan to spend big money to modify my FD and is looking for a good tuner within NC. If you have other recommendation, please feel free to share as well.

Thanks!
Andy

Hey Andy! It's been a while...

We might want to talk about your conversion project...

Can you want to stop by the Mazda Sports Car Club meeting this Friday? Otherwise, shoot me an e-mail, vp@msccnc.org and I can walk you through what will be involved in a conversion since I've been doing a lot of research on it in the past few months.

They are a great bunch of guys that know rotary engines and mods. They did my rebuild and street ported it and it has run for over 7k miles without a problem. I am completely satisfied with their work, their after build support, and their willingness to answer any questions you might before, during, or after your work.
You can visit their website, www.rotorsportsracing.com and see what all they can do. I was very pleased with their prices for the quality of work they do. They started by rebuild when they said they would, kept me informed of their progress, and finished when they said they would!

Some Pics of the last Drive-In

I think I can post pics of the last Drive-In for all those that did make it and those that didn't -

Brent, thanks for advice about using photobucket for the pics.

We all had a great time but still want to see all those 7 owners in the Raleigh area that haven't come out or couldn't make it to the last drive-in.

Bert

RE: Organization of the meetings...

I think you will kill attendance if you start making things too formal, especially with a younger membership base.

Organization only seems to work well for large well established groups (Toastmasters, SCCA, <insert group here>)

You might be right, Ashraf. Especially, since I didnt hear anyone back the idea, except Bert. Personally, I think it would be good to set aside a small section for a tech discussion, but who knows, even that may be too much structure.

What exactly are the ages we have? Sound off guys. (we don't have any women so nobody should be shy about telling their age )

I am 24.

Hrm, well, I keep a regular check up on this thread and still haven't been able to get the car I'm after (earlier troubles are mostly over, just right now I had surgery and can't really drive....)... But I'll be going whenever I get it heh heh... So I might as well post. And I'm 19.

Hi Ashraf,
I already got a plan on Friday night but I will try to make to the meeting for a little bit to discuss about my plan. It sounds like I have couple of good choices around here in NC

Hi Bert,
Thanks for your information. I have heard some positive feedbacks from people about Rotory Sport Racing. I will check them out as well as Ashraf to determine who will be a good candidate for my project.

Anyone knows if I convert twin to single turbo, will it pass emission requirement in Wake county and will it be a more reliable set up in long term??

Just my 2 cents, I think the Saturday meeting need to be a informal one for everyone to attend and if tech discussion is necessary, you can make it at the last portion of the meeting so people have the freedom to either join the discussion or leave to go curise around.

For those who plan to curise on Capital Blvd over the weekend, be careful drive there, police are crack down big time for street racing and illegal modification in that area in the past few months.

surgery is no excuse maxduo. carry your *** to the meets. j/k

i see the votes piling up for informal. anyone for a little more structure? I just feel it would be cool to actually get together and share some knowledge in a more formal way(e.g. specific subjects). since after a while we will all get to know each others cars and stories it might stagnate a little. that is unless we start planning events or something. just a thought though, obviously, it is whatever the majority wants.

Typically you will not pass emissions in Wake just because most single turbo "kits" require removal of you air pump. That is the big killer for the emissions tests! Without an airpump you're basically never going to pass. There are a few single kits out there that allow you to keep the airpump... the only one that I know in particular that does is the apexi rx6 turbo. (which are now discontinued and cost over $1k dollars to rebuild) But with some custom piping, you could probably keep your airpump with all the turbo kits except for the really big turbos that use a lot of space.

As for the meetings, i thought it sounded good to have some formal gathering to it but I also agree with Ashraf in that we will probably loose more people by going that route. Maybe we should just try it once.

It's part of the excuse for not being able to pick up a 7 at the moment. The guy I'm gonna buy from is a good distance away, and I don't wanna make the long trip this way
