That's the problem. There is never "an FC" when you need one.
You have to buy them in a lot of three or four and piece them together!

Add to that the fact that they are still actively raced and it is interesting that with the high production numbers that they can still be hard to find. To find a cheap FC, you really have to dig around.

I seem to have the same problem with finding a cheap Miata. It's either cheap and ragged out (or wrecked and not worth getting) or it's someone's baby that they want 2 or 3 times market value because of the "low miles"...

Got lucky today, I saw 2 RX7s within 1 hour at same intersection!!
Spotted both of them at the intersection between Davis Dr and Cornwallis Rd.
First One was a VR FD around 7:40am with a outstate license plate (I think it's a Maryland or South Carolina Plate) and it was a girl driver!! Next was a white FC around 8:30am. It has an aftermarket exhaust, looks like this young man was in a hurry heading over to Miami Blvd. Anyone know who they are?? I didn't have the opportunity to chase after them because I was heading to the opposite direction and was not driving my FD.

I have already saw least 2 different girls driving a VR FD in triangle area, anyone know who they are??

The White FC could have been me as well. Normally driving N on Davis, turning right onto Cornwallis towards Miami. Was the car missing the black trim on the sides?

New pedals from Autovation

Got my new pedals from AutoVation installed Sunday, a week ago, and first time I've had a chance to post the pics, sorry, they're a little dirty from all the rain we've had the last few days:

Took about an hour, no problems at all, they fit the factory metal base just like they were custom made for them, oh yeah, they were customed for the FC pedals.
They are a great deal for a 4 set match, custom made for FCs and with all the mounting hardware included. Considering what you find in the auto parts stores and their prices these are a great buy.

Bert

tried to get ahold of an S5 GXL today. failed attempt. i got a good laugh out of it though. this guy that owns a shop, is a mechanic himself, told me that he was gonna interchange a lot of parts between his s4 GXL and his S5. i nearly laughed in his face when he told me he was an RX7 fanatic. i told him that they wouldnt interchange a lot of parts. his reply- yeah they will, they're the same motor 13B... haha, i thought it was kinda funny. especially coming from a "fanatic".

Dave - who is this "mechanic"? Just we'll be sure not to go near his shop.

Andy - The mazda drivers school is one site here are a couple of others:
http://www.motorsportsemployment.com...g_schools.html

http://www.sportcompactcarweb.com/fe...c_mazdaracing/

http://www.mazdadrivers.com/

http://www.autocross.com/evolution/

Eric and Ashraf from the MSSCofNC over in the Triangle should have specifics about some of these and will probably know of some more. Eric and his new bride were at the Mazda Drivers School up at VIR in June.

Bought them just for looks/to replace bent stock pedals or are you planning on learning how to heel-n-toe?

You only need one website for HPDE's:
www.trackschedule.com

If they want do a race school like Skip Barber, tell them to save their money and buy a racecar/gear and do some HPDE's before racing and they will do just fine.

Same goes for the the "street" driving schools that Skippy and the others offer, unless you can't check your ego at the gates and are going to intentionally ignore your instructor and thus probably bend sheet metal.

Andy -- will reply to your e-mails in a few more days (after my exam).

If you are talking about just bolting stuff on, sure, S4 and S5 don't interchange.

I've seen S4 motor with S5 induction running and vice-versa. Granted, the idiots putting them together didn't make the proper adjustments for the smog controls, but the motors ran fine.

I think that the old hardcore FC3S list folks would agree with him.

You should see some of the wacky hybrid motors I've been involved in (mixing motor bits and pieces from the "FC parts bin" in a 24-hour motor swap from hell to get a guy running posthaste).

well, that wasnt the point of this, this guy thought he knew what was up and how he was gonna just swap stuff directly. he was full of **** and didnt know what he was talking about. i could tell by the car he was driving. it had "powered by" seat belt covers. i thought that i should have invited him to the meets after i left but, i'll prolly go back sometime.

Been there, done that.

Wasn't sure where you were coming from based on what you wrote in the first message. Sometimes it is best to just leave them be..."in ignorance there is bliss"

No not for looks, my OEM pedals were worn slick and ready to fall off the pedals. They were only 15 years and 117K miles old. I got these for the gription. Yeah I'll be doing the heal/toe thing one of these days.

Bert, Ashraf,

Thanks for the racing school reply, I will check them out.

Ashraf,
I didn't want to bother you as I know you are probably busy studying. Been there, done that and understand how stressful is the exam week. Good luck!!

Aloha again guys,

Hey Bert is there a link to where you got those pedals? Ours are getting worn out as well. And if you don't mind me asking what was the cost of the set? I have not seen a good full set for our cars before.

And FWIW, I just sent out about 15 Resume's to a bunch of shops and teams in the area over in Moorseville/Charlotte. Hopefully something good will come about for us. * Crossing my fingers*

Still loooking forward to seeing a few of you guys if can. It is on the list of a million and one things to do Never enough time ya'know!

Later, Dave

Well now I'm not sure I'll be able to make the Saturday drive-in this time. I had totally forgotten that I've got a kid's birthday party to attend that night at the Durham Bulls ballpark. I think it starts around 5pm. Bert, Dave, Steve, how late do the RX7 gatherings normally last ? ...roughly

Good to hear from you, the company that makes them is called AutoVation, here's their website = http://www.autovation.net They were having a group buy on this forum and they were $65 for the full four pedal set in bead blasted finish. Choose products and then select Mazda to find what products they offer for FCs & FDs. They mentioned when I got mine that they were going to be selling them thru the RX7 Store from this forum.

Good luck on the job hunt I don't know what the market is like but I know it must be very competitive. Look us up when you get to this area, I know everyone would love to meet you.

For sure, A job on a team is like looking for a needle in a hay stack. But you can't be told no unless you ask correct? Gotta try to get what you want in life, It sure as hell hasn't been given to me so far!!

And i put in a bunch of resume's to some of the motorcycle dealers in the area as well. ( I have factory training in all Japanese brands)

And we are still planning in a trip to the Raleigh area. Just not positive on the dates yet.. I'll keep you updated. I'm looking forward to getting there We haven't taken a break in 3 years! Should be nice.

Thanks for the pedal link too Bert. $ 65 is an awsome price for a full matching set. I'll check out the store as well. Also did you get the "turbo" style or the "traditional" style? What are the differences.? No pics of the turbo style on the site.

thanks again, Dave
