A friend of mine just sent me this and I thought one of y'all might be interested.
There is a 1985 RX-7 for sale at Garmon Auto Services near Stone Mountain. (5484 Five Forks Trickum Rd, Stone Mountain, GA 30087). The car has been sitting there for a year and is dirty, but he said the dirt wipes off and the paint looks good underneath. The sign in the window says one owner, 52,000 miles, $4,500, drivable, AC, 5-speed. The shop owner says it was clean and running a year ago when it was parked out front and the lady was only selling it because she wasn't driving it. Since it has been sitting for a year you can probably get it for a good bit less. Might be a good deal if any of you are looking for a low mileage FB.

really nice find. got the steel wheels w/chrome bands. kinda like the rx4 wheels i run. but they would have to come off that price a lot for me to get it. still would like to check it out and talk to that lady.

I have a question for you old school folks. My mustang has a '77 302 V8 engine swap. It has a fairly new front pulley/damper with clear timing marks and degree numbers, but I cannot find the pointer on the block to line the marks up with.
I didn't know this when I pulled out the distributor when I was cleaning up the motor... I tried finding TDC from the #1 piston and re-stabbing the distributor, but I must be off as the car now stumbles to fire up...
I thought I could order the timing pin, but I have no clue where the original one even went... There are options for a drivers side pin or a pass side pin, adjustable ones, etc...
Any ideas?

Some times you can't use the factory tab If it's a larger after market balancer.that could be your problem and would explain why you can't find it

Thanks guys. I haven't had much time to work on it, I took a bunch of pictures around the front pulley, I'm going to try and match those to some google images to order a new timing pointer...

Since there isn't much talk around here, I'll continue to ramble on about the mustang project.
I'm still clueless as to where the timing pointer should be. The front balancer looks similar in size to factory pictures (in comparison to the main pulley that's bolted to the front of it) so I don't think it's covering the timing pointer mounting holes or anything. I just can't imagine it would be on the passenger side of the engine, as there would be no way to even see it without having the water pump off... But when I line the motor up to TDC, the timing marks are around 10-11 o'clock, so that must be where the factory location was...
Earlier this week, I pulled the #1 plug, put my finger over the plug hole, and rotated the motor until I felt pressure. I continued spinning it until the pressure stopped, where I figured was TDC. I marked the #1 plug wire on the distributor cap and pulled off the cap. The rotor button was at least 15 degrees past the mark I made. So I pulled up the distributor and re-stabbed it a few times until the rotor button was lined up to the #1 mark I made.
I popped the distributor cap on and started installing the #1 spark plug, but I accidentally snapped the white part of the plug off... So I had to wait until the next day before I could get another plug. I put it in last night, went to start it up, and it only did a few rotations before the battery got too weak.
So I'll drop the battery off today to be charged up, and tonight I'll give it another go round.
On a diferent note, I called in last night to make a change to my health insurance, and I ended up talking to the phone rep for 10 minutes or so about cars. Right before I hung up, he was like "hurry up and get rid of that BMW and get back into a rotary." It was about the most enjoyable insurance related phone call I've ever had...

The White One Two is getting Older and more Valuable every day.
The Train Wreck 12A remains on display, perhaps the last example of a virgin 12A in the United States.
I recently snagged an original black leather covered 1983 butterfly steering wheel on ebay in great shape, just about completing the vintage red leather interior.
It's gonna be nice.

The Rustang runs again!
I got it started last night, but had to turn it off after a minute because the wife was complaining about the stank. It has a little shudder when I press the gas but I think turning the distributor a little bit will be enough to time it in.
If all goes well, I may take it for a stroll around the neighborhood this afternoon, assuming I get off work early enough...

Well we know those ObamaCare dudes know about rotaries, that's for sure, just ask Brett.

About the ObamaCare. We should first ask:
Is is working? (yes)
Do you care (no)
Do the Republicans have a better idea (no, of course)
If ObamaCare can make more dead chameleons and fewer fat cats feeding off the health care system, and they know a lot about rotaries, I'm all for it.

My car started life as a 79 S model. S model meaning el strippo version. 4 speed, no console, no passenger mirror etc, It was the only one I could afford at the time.
I learned early on the value of junkyard upgrades, so I gradually added most of the missing options, so the notion of keeping it original went away early in its life and went completely out the window when I restored it about twenty years ago. I made major changes and while its still a street car that rides fairly well, it has had every system drastically modified. But it handles, accelerates and turns far better than it did in its prior life, I love it.
Time passes however and original cars start to be worth more and gain a certain attractiveness that comes only with time and I start yearning for an original version to go along with my highly modified baby. So I was interested in this:

It is almost the twin of my car at its birth, S model, 4 speed, same color and totally original and complete, not in perfect condition but completely unmolested, even the exhaust system, and radio faceplate is still intact, hell I think even the electric antenna is the stock one.
But the timing was not good. Been on a spending spree lately and I know my wife would never go for it. What I didnt know was my son knew I was watching it on E-bay and when I didn't bid, he and my daughter did, in secret, and when he arrived for Thanksgiving dinner today he had this:
Seems this is my birthday and Christmas present this year. I was speechless.

Probably not. It's not quite as good as the pic makes it look. It supposedly cranks and runs, but the PO says it sat for ten years and the hood has numerous rust bubbles coming through, makes me worry about underneath.
