Old guys with 12As club meeting
Collin, old buddy! Long time, no see!
And you're still just as fuzzy as ever.
Like, what's that picture of the blue car, your current FC?
And who's Grace? An ex?
And don't tell me you're going to spend another winter up there in Vermont underneath all that snow?
Mike, I'm down for Chinese at the Hunan on Friday, September 27. Makes me hungry just thinking about it.

Looks like we finally might be having a good formula one movie coming out of Hollywood again, first one since Grand Prix in 1966.
It's called "Rush", a film by Ron Howard about the rivalry between Niki Lauda and James Hunt, back when race cars were race cars and drivers were drivers.

Strangely , it does not appear that the original paint finish was prepped before it got sprayed. From what I could tell , the white was not even keyed with a scotch brite !
Had I had more money I would have gone straight to metal rather than the factory primer. I also would have used filler primer in addition to the epoxy primer to smooth things out. Especially the jambs where I had sandblasted.
In a nutshell , I completely disassembled the car.. stripped and sandblasted.. and the car received the following..
- PPG black epoxy primer
- PPG epoxy primer hardener
- PPG single-stage in Mariner Blue
- PPG enamel reducer
- PPG high-gloss hardener
If I'm completely honest , I could have done a better job of the jambs , but I was running out of season to be able to paint the car outside under twenty feet of canopy. I also wish I'd bought more paint to do an extra wet coat.
There's quite a lot of orange peel on the main body (which I sprayed first) , and as I got the feel for my gun with this paint system and adjusted all of my settings , it got better.
Did all my edges and jambs first.. the only things that are not mariner blue are the engine bay , under the carpet, and I left the inside face of the doors in black epoxy primer.
I was determined to do a better job of it than those bastards that "painted" Grace... and while my paint job isn't the best? Still worlds better than the mess I paid someone else to do.
Still needs color sanded and buffed like you would not even believe.
Hunan next Friday, sounds good.
Collin that's a lot of work. I'd have to pay someone to do all that. But now you know how.
Brett, 35# bag of wild bird food. If their wild birds, they should find their own food. Oh and the trans looks really nice.

More pics Collin, looks like we all could learn something.

On the wild animals thing, I was sorely tempted to get a bag of that deer corn at Kroger yesterday. Only $9.99 for a 50 pound bag.
I'm sure somebody around here would eat it.

Hello all, I am looking for my wifes old 95 white exterior, black interior rx7. I have reason to believe it has ended up in Atlanta and I would love to see what has become of her baby!
-Thanks in advance!

Well, after some help from Collin today, my FC is back in a drivable state. Bad thing is, my pretty new transmission has quite a bit of bearing noise. It whistles like a supercharged car or something
I'll be at the meet Tuesday, though, whistling through the parking lot!
